Please remind me what the fuck was the Earth Federation doing during Z and ZZ while Haman and Glemy were fucking the earth
>>
Watch the shows and find out.
>>
>Zeta
The Federation forces had a schism, with a large portion of them siding with the Titans, and a large portion of them siding with the AEUG/Karaba. Both sides basically wiped each other out. Many of the Titans who survived joined Axis. The Federation is basically wholly depleted.
>ZZ
The Federation is fucked up. They need Karaba's help to start producing GM IIIs, of which they only make about 800. The best their main forces can accomplish is stopping the Pezun rebellion. They don't have the ability to oppose Neo Zeon.
>>
>>23700226
So the Z earth schism was solved by the ZZ neo zeon schism?
Seems lazy
>>
>>23700235
It was solved by the majority of the Titans and the AEUG both dying, and only the milquetoast regular Federal forces being left over.
>>
>>23700201
They deliberately let neo zeon attack Earth so poor people die in order to reduce population and keep prices low
>>
>>23700201
Sentinel explains it. The federation main fleet had its own civil war and got fucked up. 2 parts of it backed Taskforce Alpha, which was made using units from the combined fleet and new units. 1 part of it backed New Dessides, which was led by the Federation instructor's corp, who trained new pilots and learning computers. At the end of ZZ we see some new ships show up so they probably rebuilt during the course of the show, but it doesn't look like a lot. In some spinoffs it's a "large fleet" whatever that means, so maybe there were more ships behind the ones on screen.

>>23700317
also this, cause spacenoids are racist. New Dessides was right btw
>>
something something Garmillias

The Federation had a civil war during Zeta and destroyed themselves. The two sides were Titans VS AEUG. Thousands of mobile suits and hundreds of ships were lost in a civil war across the Earthsphere. Ex-Zeon pilots, spacenoids, and even random people from Jupiter joined both sides. Fighting on both sides were brutal and both sides destroyed each other. Leaders on both sides were dead by the end.

Before the final battle, BOTH sides made promises to give Axis Neo Zeon whatever the wanted. As long as Neo Zeon helped their side win. Haman chose to mostly stay out of it. AEUG even promised to give them all of Side 3 and almost everything the Principality of Zeon once had, as long as Zeon helped them. The Titans and AEUG hated each other that much.

After the final battle, most of the Federation military was exhausted and depleted. Only a token force remained to keep the Federation government from collapsing. And it almost did.

With no real Federation military left, Axis Neo Zeon (which had spent 7 years rebuilding themselves in secret) were able to roll right in and take over with their huge army. The Federation couldn't stop them. So the Federation tried to appease Neo Zeon and give them whatever they wanted. As long as Zeon didn't totally destroy the Federation. ZZ was Neo Zeon's best (and last) opportunity to truly make a come back.

Then Neo Zeon had their own civil war. Originally Director Tomino intended for Char to create his own secret Zeon faction and rise up to fight Haman's faction. This would have been really cool. But then Bandai offered Tomino a chance to make a movie. So he said he didn't want to waste Char's final story on a TV show and changed the story of ZZ. The staff rushed last minute and pulled a blonde background character, originally called "Soldier A" in the character notes. Then hastily called him Glemmy. He became the replacement Char during ZZ. But results were meh...

I believe in ZZ there was a huge fight that happened between EFSF and New Decides because New Decides decided to double down instead of surrendering when the Task Force α wave its dick around with FAZZ, Z plus and S-Gundam

>But then Bandai offered Tomino a chance to make a movie. So he said he didn't want to waste Char's final story on a TV show
Why?
CCA is like 2 hours long
Even a 12 ep show at 20 minutes is 4 hours, twice the time to develop characters and themes
>>

The episodic nature required by a children's cartoon doesn't allow the writing freedom that an animated movie would allow him. It's not about time, it's about being able tone-a-hat you want to say without corporate coming in and telling you to make weekly changes in order to push more toys and make it more palatable to kids. A two hour movie isn't a restriction for a good story teller anyways.
>>
>>23700669
>tone-a-hat
That's supposed to be "to say".
Jesus fucking Christ, I hate autocorrect. Why the fuck is that even a word in it's dictionary?
>>
>>23700670
Less corporate meddling makes sense but
>he doesn't tone-his-hat
NGMI

>The staff rushed last minute and pulled a blonde background character, originally called "Soldier A" in the character notes. Then hastily called him Glemmy. He became the replacement Char during ZZ
So Char was even originally planned as a pedo...
>>

>tone-a-hat
What's that? I can't find the definition

can you give me the source? I assume it's from mark simmons gundam website.

>I assume it's from mark simmons gundam website.
Not that anon but I'm gonna tell you something. Not everything is from Mark Simmons website. I have no idea why you would even assume that idea.

There are hundreds of Tomino interviews scattered across the various databooks, newspapers, magazines, and the internet. Possibly more. Sure some of them appear on places like Zeonic and Mark Simmons fan websites. But Many more of them are untranslated, only appear in the Japanese newspaper/magazine, or remain on obscure websites from the 1990s that you can only find on internet archive because the original website is long gone. Tomino did a ton of traveling in the 1990s and 2000s. Tomino visited anime conventions, did lots of interviews with fans, and gave speeches at some conventions.

Tomino has said so much shit over the decades that I wouldn't be surprised if you told me Tomino said that peanut and jelly sandwiches are sexual in nature, or that Bright eating a burger represents his strong libido and his desire to dominate Mirai. Tomino is blunt and a very unique type of person.
>>
>>23700826
Agreed. Tomino even pops up in interviews meant for other anime Directors. There's no single database that has all of Tomino's interviews. I doubt there ever will be.
