i just finnished watching the final evangelion rebuild movie and when i saw the fight between eva unit 13 and unit 01 in the city it reminded me of this exact gif. the fight looked so hilariously bad. how do CGI bros cope with this?
I thought that was on purpose, to show that the 'final climactic battle for the fate of the world' really isn't that spectacular, it's just a father and son squabbling

I've got a buddy who enjoyed that reference so much it made him overlook the fact that the entire second half of the movie is shit. The only redeeming parts of 4.0 are when they are fucking around a comfy little town, and moreso just because it's a well animated small Japanese village and we follow Evangelion characters around doing stuff. In a few years you'll be able to generate something with AI that is the same premise though that probably looks just as good so it was all a meme anyways

>>23704664It was all in CGI and looked like ass. Most of the action scenes since 2.0 are CGI and don't look great, they increasingly relied on it and it was probably the wrong call, especially since they are movies and you'd expect a little more effort put into things

The city set was supposed to look bad but the first fight in the movie looks worse and legitimately made me want to turn the movie off. Eva 4.0 is a weird movie because I thought it was actually pretty good aside from that fight when I first saw it, but I like it less and less in retrospect. I do appreciate how Shinji finally has some agency and grows a pair to finally admit his true feelings about things, and I liked his confrontation with Gendo, but the rest of the movie was pretty shit and the ending was bad self-insert wish fulfilment. >>23704636This.>>23704892To be fair the series was made by an Australian but I am very sick of seeing it everywhere, even as an Australian.
