I had hopes after Orguss ended up being good, but this kinda sucked
>>23705460orguss was terrible at least southern cross was 23 episodes of shit instead of 35
>>23705460It was a fun little ride.
>>23705460Maybe try Mospeada.
They needed more focus on the other two women and more interactions, that would've made it unique. Instead it doesn't do much of anything before it gets a rushed ending.>>23705847Orguss would have been a classic if it actually had a budget and the writers kept to a consistent plot on some of the episodes. Very memorable cast and incredibly cool concept that was well ahead of its time.
>>23706606No. No it really wasn't. Which is a shame because I liked a lot of it's designs but so much was just completely under used. >They needed more focus on the other two women and more interactions,Especially since the main one was such a pain in the ass.
>>23706844The 3 main chicks were all cool in their own way and on its surface the premise was decent, an advanced civilization that went out to space coming back to find some assholes colonized their home planet. But all the execution was just a mess. Why did they leave in the first place/not leave some people if they NEEDED the magic plantsTryhard transforming mechs that looked dumb in every form. Somehow the frog with a giant cannon barrel sticking out its ass was the best oneTrinity and no emotion shtick that made no sense whatsoever when they were clearly acting on emotion the entire timeLeaders of both sides are just braindead ME WANT WAR idiots to keep everything going Zor are too advanced and untouchable (except against main characters) and then suddenly are weak ass cannon fodderSpecial shoutout to people carrying around peashooter pistols and every so often not just taking out the giant ass mechs with them but sending them flying back 500 feet
>>23705847Still too much, I will never get those 9 hours back.
>>23707279>Why did they leave in the first place/not leave some people if they NEEDED the magic plantsThis gets explained in the art books. The Zor are humans that were transported through space and time to Gloire by some unknown force and eventually developed their own civilization. After contaminating the planet with a nuclear war, they left to settle on another world but were forced to return to Gloire. Obviously, this all would have been in the show were it not cut short. The idea was that while they'd modified themselves to live in symbiosis with the Protozor plants, they could just as easily live as normal humans again but their leaders wanted to hold onto their old ways.
>>23707356This isn't conjecture either, as Big West's Yoshimasa Onishi (on the left there) saying the show was supposed to be about the Zor rediscovering their humanity just like the antagonists in the prior Super Dimension shows. The other guy is MIC's CEO, Shigeo Tsubota because Galvion was meant to be Southern Cross's sister series but Takatoku's death lead to that show being canceled.
>>23705847>orguss was terribleNot all of it. It was definitely too dragged out. The two main leads were terrible though.
>>23706844>Especially since the main one was such a pain in the ass.Meh, I was amused by her Sailor-Moonish antics.
>>23707356>>23707365I thought the original idea of the show was a warring states in space with the samurai looking power armor the characters are wearing and the three women sharing the show as the 3 leads?
>>23716974The Sengoku SF version was the earliest proposal (hence all the armors and robot designs) but that was quickly abandoned. Lots of anime get reworked like that. What I'm talking about was how the anime would've played out had it not gotten canceled. At least this show got an ending, unlike Galvion. >>23716968No she's Sailor Mars.
>>23716994She seems more like Sailor Mars.
>>23717011Jeanne was Michie Tomizawa's first starring role.
>>23717013Ah, so.
>>23705460Been reading about the show's development and Akira Kagami in general. It never would have happened, but imagining this as a lolicon x mecha show is certainly interesting.
>>23718096Aki Uchiyama's planned comical little girls action series could have been cult classic like Gall Force.
>>23718105Nobody remembers Gall Force.
>>23718232I do, there’s a thread up right now>>23716994I think galvion’s ending situation is similar to ideon but much worse for obvious reasons
>>23718105Now I'm curious what a SD version would look like.>>23718232You do.
>>23718232Not with that attitude.
>>23718941I like Westaboos
>>23718105Too pedo-coded.
Did you know that Big West had their own knock Plamo Kyoshiro called Plamo Genius Esper Taro (プラモ天才エスパー太郎) focused around kits from the three Super Dimension shows? It's on a bunch of legit manga streaming sites but I never figure out how to rip it from any of them.
>>23719158neat
>>23719158>プラモ天才エスパー太郎https://www.a-zmanga.net/archives/104851#more-104851
>>23719655Can someone just get the Taro part?
>>23705460
>>23722963Hey, is that Toten's work?!
>>23723717Looks like it.
>>23718232I remembered Gall Force.
I’ve been contemplating whenever or not I should watch this, one one hand I heard it’s pretty meh and this thread doesn’t really help lol, on the other hand it’s is fairly known series and the only anime that made up robotech that I haven’t watched yet seeing Macross 1982 and Mospedia last year
>>23724556God damn I really should’ve fixed those typos before hand
>>23724556It's so short you could bang it out in a week.
>>23724633Alright I’ll probably get to it in about a month or two
>>23724556Of the three shows, this one was by far the most edited.
>>23724556AND WE
>>23724556>I’ve been contemplating whenever or not I should watch thisIt's 80s mecha anime. Do you like 80s mecha anime? It's not a great show, but it's got some interesting designs, both character and equipment wise.Watch it if you like 80s mecha anime.
>>23727619I like 80s mecha anime.
>>23724556It's a fucking cartoon. Either watch it or don't. It doesn't need contemplation. Good fucking christ. In all that time you could have at least tried it.
