>Is Jegan the GOAT of mass production suit?
Not exactly. It was the Federation's last decent attempt at mass production. But I would say the Jegan wasn't the best they could do during the 0090s.

During the 0079, the GM was a really solid attempt at a mobile suit. High end with brand new beam rifles and beam sabers. This was cutting edge technology. Maybe only slightly below the original Gundam, but the GM was still quite good.

During the 0080s, the Federation was constantly testing the limits of designs. Such as Hizacks (dominated everything during the early 0080s), Marasais, Asshimars, and Barzam. These were very high performance mass produced suits.

In comparison, the Jegan feels rather bland. The Federation was only putting in a half-hearted effort. Sure, the Jegan had the latest technology but it was quite clearly a very "budget" mass production suit. The Federation could have done better if they wanted to.

In car terms, if the UC 0080s were filled with Ferraris (Ashimars and Barzams), then the Jegan was Toyota Corrola. Not even a high end Toyota. Just a base model car.
>>
>>23739191
>Maybe only slightly below the original Gundam
That'd be GM Sniper 2 or GM Sniper iirc

I wonder how, when they're basically Gelgoog tier and can't power multiple beam weapons.
>>
>>23739205
>I wonder how, when they're basically Gelgoog tier
Manga shows them easily dominating old One Year War mobile suits and easily defeating leftover Zeon remnants.

>and can't power multiple beam weapons.
I don't even understand where this meme came from. Are you making fun of Hizack's machine gun?

The reason they use machine guns is because Hizacks often go inside colonies for mobile suit battles. You can't shoot beam rifles inside colonies. It's a sealed cylinder. Firing a beam rifle means the beam will continue traveling, and hit the inside of the colony wall and kill nearby civilians. The beam may potentially even punch through the wall of the colony. That's why Hizacks use machine guns anti-remnant operations inside Colonies.
>>
>>23739212
>I don't even understand where this meme came from. Are you making fun of Hizack's machine gun?
Having to power up weapons platforms in pairs iirc
>>
>>23739205
>can't power multiple beam weapons.
A GM reactor can power a beam saber and a beam rifle. A Hizack has a more powerful reactor than a GM. Therefore a Hizack can power multiple beam weapons.
>>
>>23739212
I'm honestly surprised that Gundam fans don't have common sense and expect all mobile suits to always be running around with beam weapons. It's the worst weapon to use inside or around a colony.

>BEAM BEAM BEAM. WHY DOESN'T IT HAVE MORE BEAMS??? NO BEAMS?? IT'S WEAK! NEEDS MORE BEAM!!
Pure autism from Gundam fans. 08th MS Team showed us that mobile suits are supposed to choose the best weapon for the job.

The Geymalk needed way more beams than they could fit on a mobile suit so once they ran out of space on the frame itself they decided to give it funnels too. But that still wasn't enough beams so they gave the funnels their own funnels so that it could vomit a hundred different beams in every possible direction

>>23739212
>I don't even understand where this meme came from.
Early Hizacks had faulty reactors that couldn't reach their intended output due to Anaheim messing with the parts supply.

https://desuarchive.org/m/thread/21735952/#21745696

It's been a lore thing forever, remember when old games like AEUG vs Titans let you pick the Hizack but force you to use a heat hawk when you pick the beam rifle, or only allow the beam saber when you pick the machine gun? Or the old G Gen games doing the same thing with the different color variations of the Hizack? Or Giren's Greed doing the same thing?

>Hizack with the beam saber has an ammo count of 140 for its machine gun, Hizack equipped with the heat hawk has ammo count of 10 for its beam rifle
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2_mZcvhujs

>EFSF Hizack has machine gun paired with beam saber

>Titans Hizack has beam rifle paired with heat hawk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHgrTuBKOso

>Giren's Greed Hizack machine gun paired with beam saber
https://girensgreed.fandom.com/wiki/Hizack_(Machinegun)

More recent games started being more relaxed about it, but even Gundam Battle Operation 2 specifically mentions in the Hizack unit profile that their units have the reactor flaw corrected so you can intentionally choose the beam rifle and beam saber at the same time. You know they definitely had to put in that line of text just so autistic fans don't send the game devs emails about the Hizack being inaccurate.
>>
>>23739205
>That'd be GM Sniper 2 or GM Sniper iirc
The GM Sniper II is as good if not superior. The Gundam is mainly famous because of Amuro. Otherwise it's kind of middle of the pack by the end of the war in terms of tech. It's not even better than the G-3, let alone the rest of the Gundams.
>>
>>23739212
>I don't even understand where this meme came from. Are you making fun of Hizack's machine gun?
Model manuals say this. The MG details it the most. The pulse module for routing power or whatever can't handle charging a beam saber and using beam rifle at the same time. It's also why it still has external cables just to operate. The internal wiring is a mess because it's a frankenstein of Feddie and Zeon tech stuff into a beefy zaku body.

IIRC AOZ retcons a few things. The Hizack is a cheap AE production version of a Federation developed state-of-the-art prototype Hizack, which was used as the base for some of the TTT hizack variants. There was internal fighting between the federation and AE over what reactor to use resulting in the design issues that led to power issues, but it was fixed in late production models. Pretty sure Master Archive also has some commentary about this.

Please explain to me how Hizack can have a 360 degree cockpit screen when it only has a single mono-eye main camera? We saw in ZZ Gundam that hooking up a Zaku head breaks the 360 cockpit and makes 360 cockpit partially non-functional.
>>
>>23741454
Zaku head lens FOV too small and camera system isn't suitable with panoramic cockpit view systems of the body
Hizack head lens FOV very big and cameras all over the MS are compatible with it's camera subsystem

Think firmware and software and interfacing level compatibilities and compromises

The Zeta Zaku didn't work because that was an impromptu field repair to a unit that wasn't 100% compatible.
There's an episode in ZZ where Neo Zeon pilots are using Zaku IIs on flight units and those have fully functional panoramic cockpits.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Nemo is the WOAT
>>
>>23742589
except for when they're unmanned, that's a buff to their performance
>>
>>23742589
I've been rewatching Zeta recently and it's shocking how much the Nemo is fumbled. There's an episode in the early-middle on earth where Amuro doesn't have a designated mobile suit yet and the writers had the option to either give him Char's Rick Dias or use a Nemo for an episode. For some unfathomable reason he shares the Rick Dias with Char.

This was the easiest slam dunk of their lives, just have Amuro use the Nemo for an episode or even two to show what it can do, hype the machine up, and then leave it to job later to show how good the new Titan suits are. Instead, the Nemo is never ever shown to be a good suit, and just instantly folds because it's ALWAYS either a grunt pilot or one of the complete noobs like Katz or Fa.

This genuinely annoyed me as a viewer.
>>
>>23743009
You are starting to realize that real life politics influence anime.

The Rick Dias model kit was released before Nemo. Therefore Bandai wanted to promote the Rick Dias as much as possible. Therefore Amuro gets in the Rick Dias over the nearby Nemo.

This is the exact type of thing that Director Tomino was upset about. Real life toy sales and politics slowly influencing the story he wanted to tell.
>>
>>23743009
Reminder that one time they stuck Amuro in a GM and had him eat shit. Char can't even tell that Amuro was piloting it.

>>
>>23743893
>beam saber randomly doesn't work and Char kicks straight through where it should have been
The drawing and choreography isn't that good, but the panel is supposed to show that Char stepped back and dodged the slash.

>le beam spray gun is only good at close range, amuro says from like 100m away
I believe Amuro is saying that Char is too fast and keeps dodging. So the spray gun can only work when Amuro much closer.

Overall it's a mixed bag. The reaction time of the GM is slower than Gundam. But at the same time, Amuro is doing a poor job piloting it. He isn't used to the timing and is making mistakes thinking he's still in the Gundam. Mistakes like waiting too long to dodge. Or diving into the enemy with a beam saber when the GM is slower. Amuro's timing is completely off when using the GM. So he's at fault too.

Neo Zeon had a real problem with their best pilots being stuck in total junk suits in ZZ. These guys stuck in Zaku IIs with pinpoint aim. Desert Rommel's guys all in OYW suits. Mashymre, with cyber enhancements, using a Zaku III at the end of the war which is probably worse than the Gallus-J he started with, never mind the Doven Wolf team and Quin Mantha he is fighting against. Haman herself in her old Qubeley, she probably could have won the whole war if she had the Quin Mantha instead of Glemy.
