I've seen almost all the sentai series even the showa ones, and this is frankly the worst ending out of every single one. Even Ninninger, while overall an even worst show than Gozyuger, had a passable ending.

Decent finale, overall the show is a 7/10 for me. The 6 rangers were all really likeable but they were used extremely poorly due to giving most of the focus to Hoeru and Rikuo. The Bridans were amazing villains but the calimity were kind of generic for the most part. Every Universe Warrior was entertaining (except ShishiRed/2nd GozyuTyranno) yet they speedran through the Universe Battle. With the exception of the Mochitsuki, Omotenashi and Showa No Ones, all of the No Ones were fun but they barely contributed anything to the plot and they were mostly a detriment since they would detract focus from the Universe Warriors whenever they were written by Akiko which was most of the show. Many themes of the show blend together surprisingly well yet the show introduces several ideas to the worldbuilding that are never utilized again or are extremely rushed like the berserk Universe Warrior or whatever Orca was, also a lot of the world-building is gated by the Gozyugers not asking any question to Kumade which makes them all feel retarded. And then there's the whole Sumino recast situation making some episodes feel ominously depressing and several instances of poor editing, with the second worst case of editing being this final episode.

Overall I had fun for most of the show aside from like 5 episodes but the show felt like it didn't make the most use out of any of its ideas, ultimately the only thing I found consistently good from start to finish is the action, music and designs. I still think Matsuura is a producer with really good ideas and would like him to keep making toku but I really hope Akiko never does any team-focused toku ever again.

I like that they made it a point to include classic camerawork, like the mooks jumping in and the team flipping in to hit fire candle. They also probably got lucky some of the roll call was greenscreen to begin with so the last part of it still looked fine.

Long answer: Considering that Oto was able to recognize Sumino with a different face than from the time the two met, reality has probably been rewritten so as those deaths didn't happen. Or got "One More Day"/"No Way Home" Spider-Man-ed where those events still happened but couldn't be pinned to Rei.

As for the ending itself, a bit weak in the payoff department but I did think it was fitting thematicly in that the moral of story is firmly "The real treasure was the bros we made along the way" and even best boy got a nice acknowledgement from Hoeru and his no 1 family. Sumino however felt completely forced in there and that kinda skews message to "Yes bros, no hos". If there was one thing I would regret about this entry is that they really could have done a couple more bits with how chill of a god Tegasword is just going along with the hijinxes everyone else drags him into.

The term "wiener" is more of a sausage (a more common sight would be the タコさんウィナー / octopus sausage) and it's a clear reference to Episode 1 and restart in Episode 16. That said, the Japanese do love their puns so having multiple meanings/references is not out of the question.

Such a shame it all ended like this. I just started sentai 2 years ago and this was my first experience watching it as it aired. I was so hyped at the beginining. Sumino was easily my favorite character. It genuinely all collapsed after she left. The only solace I have now is draining my sack to Maya Imamori's gravure archive now.

I've been shitposting in Sentai weekly threads since 2009 and I want to say it's been an honour and a privilege to share that with the 20 something other anons that have been keeping them going since the decline.

gonna be honest I mostly watched for Hoeru's animalistic fighting style so on that front it delivered. It's probably the weakest of the Anniversary shows though. It's been said before but sentai really could have ended on Donbrothers and had a more satisfying conclusion. I think a better ending would've been them just repeating the ring battle over and over again and end sentai off by saying that the Gozyuger will keep having ring battles until the next sentai, and if they do ever bring gozyuger back after Vs Boonboom they could just say that at some point they all got their faces changed by tega sword if they can't get the actors back.

Hoeru's not a particularly compelling red but his fighting style makes up for it. My GOATs are still Don Momotaro, Patren 1gou, and Go-On Red though.

This show was a fucking mess. A disaster. I won't pretend it was well-written or well-composed or anything other than a dumpster fire.

But God damn it, I fucking enjoyed the hell out of it. I liked this cast (Sumino aside, the whole drama with her actually benefitted me), I liked how fucking stupid everything was, I fucking loved seeing how ramshackle the editing around old Sumino's unpersoning was. It was a car crash I couldn't look away from and I loved every second. I can understand why people would dislike and be disappointed with this show but for me I just loved the train wreck it was. Rest in peace Super Sentai you went out in the funniest way possible.

I watched some Changeman through a Brazilian channel in cable when I was a little kid, but of course I barely remember anything about it. Then as someone who grew in the 90s I watched Power Rangers every now and then.
Even though I had stopped watching anything at all for many years, I decided to start giving it a chance starting with Kyuurangers, and I've got to say that unlike many communities that constantly gatekeep newcomers this place has always been welcoming, so I appreciate that. Thanks for the fond memories during these 9 years watching shows and discussing them with you, even if I might be among the newer fans here it's still a lot of time.

Regarding Gozyuger it was a mess, but I really liked Kumade as the sixth. Best boy in the show.

Yeah, to be honest that's the part I liked the most about the finale. Why didn't they have more like that in the show? Even though Power Rangers had everything from super sentai diluted within a lot of unadultered shit, they did keep all that.

Silly poses that allude to the subject of the series, henshin, role calls, guys jumping over the cameras, martial arts, special attacks, colorful explosions, team building, monsters that turn giants and combinable mecha to fight them. That's all I expect from a sentai. Not a show that is afraid to be what it's supposed to be, leave that to the Hollywood adaptations. It felt like in some late shows they'd only do role calls if it was ironic, baring a few moments. And the explosions in many colors were even replaced by normal explosions.

One last thing. If it's going to be the last super sentai, or at least the last one in many years, or who does even know what's going to happen, couldn't they have included someone from the original series at least in a cameo, considering they are still alive?

This made me realize how little Sumino actually interacted with Universe Senshi, like yeah she had Oto but ultimately FireCandle took over as ShinkenRed, then every single other Universe Senshi Sumino interacted with was either a split focus with other ranger or a Senshi that got defeated immediately like RyusoulRed

Gozyuger felt like a bad school play where almost everyone acting in it was your friend. So you liked it because you liked the people in it, even if the props were bad, the script was messy, and you didn't really care what was going on. It's a messy show that is carried entirely by its charming characters. Not the best way to end a 50-year-old franchise, but there's been worse. Still better than the usual Kamen Rider anniversaries just on the cast being likable alone.

I really thought they were going to make a point that Hoeru made the right choice in opting out of living in the peaceful alternative universe, since he was able to fight to have his cake and eat it to, getting to keep his friends AND a world where No. 1s aren't terrorizing humanity.
Instead they just kind of ignored that power-up entirely for the finale.

I expected a lot more answers by the end. What's Tega Swords connection to Sentai? It apparently predates the big Mecha fight since that took place after Kumade's original ring war.
What happened to all these hints that there's some dark secret, or sacrafice on the winners part, regarding the ring war?
In the end Tega Sword seemed completely well meaning and restarting the war had no negative consequences. Kumade getting trapped and petrified in the past seemed to be a result of fighting Lex, not something he should be blaming on Tega Sword.
Why could Kumade with a small handful of rings permanently kill Lex when such a huge number of actual Sentai Mecha couldn't? Especially when Sasuke made is sound like the rings are weaker than the real deal.

This show was alright. Too many fucking plot threads with literally zero satisfying conclusions. Awful character balance (Sumino did literally nothing even before the shitshow, Ryugi is a nothing character except his focus episodes are the best, Kinjiro was cool but not enough focus episodes, Rikuo was better as a scammy scumbag but they got rid of that shit asap, Hoeru is fucking lame, Kumade is completely wasted) BUT I think moment to moment it was still pretty fun. Villains were great. Ring war concept was totally half baked.

People are definitely overreacting though, it’s not some horrible nightmare turd, it’s just a series that had multiple people fuck up by not tightening the reins in multiple places.

Also goodnight Sentai, I’ll miss you.

Pretty much this, it's a pretty good show, nothing outstanding but still above average, but people are overreacting due to the head writer being Akiko Inoue, which to be fair is the cause of most of the show's problems
Then the overreacting kicked in into overdrive due to the Sumino situation and this being the last Sentai

Overall as weak as a finale this was I'm glad that every Reiwa Sentai show was at the very least above average, Boonboomger was the only one I found kinda weak and even then I really like the main 5 rangers and thought the first and final arcs were solid

So is Hoeru the weakest Gozyuger? He needed the Orca Booster just to beat Ryugi. Ryugi and Rikuo are evenly matched, with Ryugi only managing a victory because Rikuo was already beat up by the time he decided to take their final fight seriously. All five of them can use the Ryoutega sword, which seems to be more powerful than the Orca Booster and they didn't even end up letting Hoeru do something unique with the Ryoutegs Sword in the finale, they just forgot it.
I really feel like they should have made the mid series upgrade the one anyone can use, and the final upgrade unique to Red, if they wanted to back their Red favoritism up with something real.
