-=READ THE GUIDES=-

Welcome to the Gunpla/Plamo General!

For those new, please read our guides. We have many resources available to help you in many different aspects of the hobby. They're here for you!

For the unclear, "plamo" is short for "plastic model". "Gunpla" is thus short for "Gundam plastic model". Many different kinds of models are built here, ranging from mecha to planes, cars, musume, you name it! If you're new, you're gonna screw up. Don't worry! If you're seasoned, don't make the newbies worry!

And don't forget to report shitposting and spam. The mods don't browse /m/ too often, so it's up to YOU to help keep our general clean and civil!

>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Be more specific, and try to provide clear images if you can.

>Why are my pictures sideways?
4chan strips EXIF data when images are uploaded, including the orientation tag if it's from your phone. To fix it save out your images separately, or use an app that will rotate and save the images for you.
One easy to use app that works well on Android:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simplemobilephotoresizer

-= ACE CUSTOM GROUPBUILD =-

Build, customize, and paint a grunt mobile suit up for use by an ace pilot.
>You are taking the role of the Ace Pilot here - You're making the design choices when it comes to loadout, paint scheme, and suit customizations.
>Think about what your Ace specializes in, is he all in on offensive power, speed and maneuverability, or bulk and defense?
>While your pilot is an ace, he's not so special that he's getting super secret prototypes like Gundams or Mobile Armors. Keep your grunt relatively grounded to whatever setting it's from.

Send your entries to gunplaplamo@gmail.com with at least 5 photos of your finished build along with any WIP photos and a description of your entry.

It does look really nice, I wouldn't even mind giving it to some UC kits, worst-case I can eventually build my Aerial and have them together. It's just that it's also the price of an HG kit and I could just get a separate friend instead

I'm a stupid retard with shaky fingers and this is probably the only RG I'll ever make. Things keep going wrong and I'm terrified of touching it. The waist is practically snapped in half below the armour and it took me over half an hour to hook the side skirts on and they are probably still loose. Just too intricate for me.

Thank you, it looks nice, but I might just keep mine as-is then. There's nothing wrong with yours, but I wanted mine to look closer to a knight than to a real robot. Also I always considered it as a land-based mobile suit (even though it was a possible pick over the Gelgoog?) and so having detailed bits that turn out to be verniers felt weird. I would have to detail things up if I try to make a Gyan Cannon or any kind of variant though.
Might panel-line the saber handle though. Possibly the hands too if it's not that difficult. Thank you again, the Gyan is a friend, please treat him well!

Man I wish Bandai would dip their toes into doing either 5th Gen AC or make knock off close enough versions of them in 30MM. I love these stumpy rust buckets. It's a damn shame Kotobukiya don't bother making more of them and instead reprint what they've already done before.

>>
>>23746202
They just showcased DxM which is just exosuits. There's no set scale
>>
>>23746196
Pretty sure 30MM is non-scale, there is no set scale that the kits abide by. Yes, next to the other 30MM kits the Gen 5 AC's will look off if you take into account their IRL size but it doesn't matter, it gets a kit and that's all that matters. Just like the HG Scopedog which is technically non-scale and despite not being 30MM, is a mech that would fit nicely next to 5th Gen ACs.

Kadokawa aimed for the alternative universe concept a few years ago with their guidebook. However, before the release of AC6, they just went "fuck it" and united every previous games into a single timeline with no multiverse autism whatsoever. AC6 has a fresh setting for newcommers, you don't need to play anything before it to understand the story context, but they did not confirm anything about the game being "an alternative universe" or stuff like that.

Get with the times, old man. The future is non-scale and modular. By 2030 we will have 40MM, 60MM and 120MM lines corresponding to RG/MG/PG (and gradually supplanting them), 30MH (30 Minute History) line, anime, vidiya and tabletop adaptations (the latter using your kits as minis, new kits will release with stat sheets), compatibility with LEGO studs and collabs with Battletech, Monster Hunter, Minecraft, Besiege, Warhammer and Star Wars.

>>23746479

The mk.ii needed a silver bullet arm bolted to its normal arm to handle the beam magnum. Why would a GM III be able to handle that?
>>
>>23746503
the source is the beam magnum blew up the arms of both the delta plus and doven wolf onscreen (silver bullet blew up six arms on screen!), both of which were fielded with significantly higher MW output beam rifles than the GM III ever carried into combat.
>>
I can handle firing the Beam Magnum just fine.
>>
>>23746509
I don't know. Why can the ZZ handle the same output with an even flimsier wrist? Why can it handle even more output with its head?

Why does the Mark II's arm have any bearing on an entirely different arm using an entirely different construction and set of components?

As the guy building it who hasn't posted in this thread since last night, the seething has been hilarious to read.
People have talked forever about it breaking arms being retarded, as well as Banagher's fixes for it being even more retarded.
It just working with GM arms is the joke. Just like how the pilot started having the verbal tick of starting sentences with "Even so" ever since finding it.
Besides, Banagher had it set to M for massive recoil, instead of W for weak recoil. The dial is on that spinny but at the back.
>>
>>23746513
why does the Doven Wolf and Silver Bullet break when they have a higher output gun?
>>
>>23746513
The ZZ is just built different. It's designed to use incredibly powerful weaponry.
The point is that a mk.ii and a silver bullet are both higher spec machines and cannot handle the beam magnum. Why would the GM III magically be able to handle a gun they couldn't?

>>23746518
I think you're really missing an opportunity to do something cool. It doesn't even have to be another GM arm. Banagher had a silver bullet arm grafted to the mk.ii arm. You could use any arm you have around.
>>
>>23746520
>higher spec
So is the Heavygun. It can handle it then, right? Because it's "higher spec?"
Can you prove movable frames result in stronger wrists? Does old style MS construction have more or less power? Does the Delta Plus have weak wrists? Does the Doven, considering it has wire-guided arms and beam guns in its hands, have weaker than normal wrists? Could the GM I, II, and III have inordinately strong actuators?

Do you know any of these one way or another?
>>
>>23746520
The only arm I have lying around is the Unicorn arm, and it has more Psychoframe in it than the Nu Gundam and the brass would have that locked up.
Besides, I /like/ the idea that a GMI arm was just built to withstand impacts better even if it's armor is worse. They were the first Fed mobile suits, so they probably were designed with more safety margins there for all the trainees falling over/catching it on things as they didn't have the OS or training programs done correctly yet. Additionally, things designed by militaries directly often way overbuild things, as they know how stupid the average grunt is. Vs a company being able to say "gun lighter" and not worry about it bending after being used as a hammer.
>>
>>23746527
GMs literally explode when balls are kicked
>>
>>23746530
Armor strength =\= joint strength
>>
>>23746525
You're just writing fanfiction about why the GM III is comparable to the unicorn gundam for some autistic reason. You're making up a bunch of reasons why machines with much bigger guns can't handle a beam magnum but a GM could for no reason. You don't have to do this. You can just stop posting.

>>23746527
You could use the unicorn arm in the normal mode. You could even fill in the lines to make a production version of the more robust arm.
>>
>>23746532
I mean the GMs in that scene crumbled into dust before they exploded
>>
>>23746534
I'm asking you what proof you have. The burden isn't on me, I didn't make a claim. Prove the GM III can't handle it. I just provided food for thought of why it could. You want to speak authoritatively, so put your money where your mouth is. Or, as you said, you can just stop posting.
>>
>>23746535
You actually weren't paying attention. Everything but the right arm crumbled. The GM III has a magical, indestructible, right arm.

>>23746537
Every mobile suit which has ever handled a beam magnum, aside from the RX-0 series, had its arm destroyed. Why wouldn't the GM III have it's arm destroyed by it when every other non-unicorn suit did? What reason do you have to believe it's so much stronger than everything else?
>>
>muh canon
Pathetic
>>
>>23746539
there is more than one GM in that scene, anon
>>
>>23746539
Every mobile suit that handled the beam magnum that wasn't the Unicorn was either a transformable machine, the first full movable frame prototype made out of weaker materials as a proof of concept, and a machine whose arms are wire guided rockets with beam guns.

I don't know, maybe the GM III, being of an entirely different construction than any of those, would be different. Can you say it isn't? Any proof.
>>
>>23746534
You are complaining about fanfiction, for an entry in a contest that involves the participants making an OC Do Not Steal Ace pilot with a various degrees of custom modified suits. You are complaining specifically, about an entry made to purposely be humorous about a gun, that people have laughed at breaking arms for years, that doesn't for some reason break an old machines arm for some reason. It is a joke.

Also the HGUC Unicorn arms don't transform, and it's a destroy mode. It would look as if it was Psychoframe.
>>
>>23746543
if that was the case, they would have just placed one of the many readily available GM III arms on the silver bullet suppressor and banana's mk II and called it a day. Mineva faction still was doing business with Anaheim
>>
>>23746537
I really like your custom and I don't want to argue with you but you're kinda being a little brat right now.
>>
>>23746546
Why would they if they have another arm? Who says they have a GM III arm as available? The GM III was out of service and production at that point.

>>23746547
It's not my custom. I'll be a brat to people who act like brats. You get treated like you act.
>>
>>23746545
You could paint in the psychoframe parts to look like normal frame. I think you're fine. The other guy is just insufferable.
If you say you'd build something though, I do happen to have a box of spare parts with some GTO rx-78 arms in it I could spare.

>>23746543
>gun destroys everything that holds it, other than the unicorn
>The GM is comparable in strength to the unicorn
They should have just strapped a psychoframe to a GM III instead of wasting their time on the rx-0 project. Instead of giving banagher a custom gundam mk.ii or his silver bullet supressor, they should have given him a GM III.
>>
>>23746550
Yeah, that'd be almost as crazy as saying the suit that wields an incredibly strong beam cannon by default can't handle it for no reason, but that's where we're at with the lore, right?

>should have given him a GM III.

It doesn't matter on it since it doesn't have to hold anything. MS frame only has issues when there's a lot of weight on it. Bigger suits like the sinanju have issues from it but not shining or god gundam.
>>
>>23746648
Astray's frame is fine, it has been subjected to some heavy stuff. EW Wing Zero has some loose armor parts but they are not that troublesome.
>>

God Gundam's arm is much worse than you think. You would expect it to be stable like the rest of its body but nope, it keeps wobbling around and the forearm keeps falling off. It is all articulated parts too so you can't even superglue them. It is objectively worse than Sinanju because atleast Sinanju has its arms stay in place.

Different engineering. Do you not understand what it means? These frames are not 100% premade, you will have to graft additional parts to them to build up the robot's body proportion and the weight, tightness, structure integrity will end up different.
>>
>>23746665

The part that's the issue is the MS frame that they both use. The sinanjus arms are both heavier and love shedding parts.

Either use a tiny bit of masking tape or tissues.
>>
>>23746683
Or you can use super glue, or the dspiae joint pen, or just paint. For RGs and their advanced MS joints, superglue is the best.
>>
>>23746677
Except RG God's arm doesn't shed its armor. The Advanced MS Joint parts are the shoulders and forearms while the double elbows and biceps are God Gundam's original. These 3 sections don't connect properly with each other. Sinanju doesn't have this problem.

I mean things happen. There can be manufacturing defects too. I posted here about it a while ago but my MG F91 2.0 broke a few joints just being in a standing pose for a few years. But overall the main problem with older RG construction is just that some armour parts don't have particularly long connections, easily fixed with glue. The frames still suck for paint of course, the GP01's torso had no business being so loose, but they're all pretty fixable problems. Oh, their hands kinda suck.

That reeks of copium, anon. Everyone can feel something is off the momment the assembly is completed, you don't need to "play" with them to see what's wrong. Early RG is such an unproductive idea, Bandai made a bunch of premade joints as if those kits were toys and it caused difficulty to fix the kits due to how they are tightly sealed and block you from altering their structure integrity.

Several other things have and it's destroyed all of their arms. A silver bullet lost it's arm from one shot and a gundam mk.ii needs heavy modifications to handle the recoil.

>destroyed
Well, actually, no. And it's not because of physical recoil, either. It's because it overheats the power supply. This Mark II with two stapled arms together? It doesn't even solve the problem like you think it does. The author of the manga intends for it to only be able to fire two shots. One for each arm.

It has literally nothing to do with the mobile suits being unable to handle physical recoil.
>>
>>23746856
To be fair to that guy, the MK2 example doesn't count as it's manga vs anime.
Which means it's the silver bullet only, which is from Narrative which is... Narrative.
>>

Don't do it bro, she's a powerlet!

It's not destroyed, a circuit overheated and malfunctioned.
>>
>>23746867
>It's just too damaged to function
>>
>>23746868
Well, considering the arm continues to work, yes. It isn't destroyed.
>>
>>23746867
Ok, now you are being really silly. If something is unusable for more than a few minutes/hours it's mission-killed/destroyed. You would count a tank with a few road wheels blown off as "destroyed" for the most part.
>>
>>23746870
You should rewatch Unicorn and see that the Delta Plus's arm works fine before just saying complete nonsense.
>>
>>23746869
This is why the silver bullet needs to discard it entirely and install a new one.
>>
>>23746872
It sure isn't because the arm's totally broken no. It's because it wants to fire another shot with the beam magnum.
>>
>>23746874
It just doesn't work anymore but it's not broken. It just started sparking, went limp and needed replaced.
>>
>>23746875
It shoots the magnum and moves the elbow after bro. The arm works.
>>
Look I'm really sorry I asked about RGs
>>23746700
Well... I guess that's slightly nice, it would make it a bit noticeably different, although I can't really catch the differences
>>23746703
That's what I was thinking for the longest time, but actually having the AEUG one in-hand won me over, and the "cool dark-blue Gundam" idea in my head just became "a dupe of a thing I already have".
How do Blue Destiny units 2 and 3 compare to the Mk-IIs? It's another set of blue and white Gundams I never looked into.
>>23746820
How bad is the waist joint
>>
>>23746877
If the arm works then why does it have to discard the arm afterwards?
>>
>>23746882
Because the electrical circuit to supply power to beam weapons overheats.
>>
>>23746884
So it's damaged and doesn't work anymore?
>>
from beam magnums to god gundam. What will /gpg/ chimp out to next?
>>
>>23746885
It's overheating. It will cool down. The arm itself is capable of doing anything but supplying power, which means it's still capable of doing pretty much everything. Are you suggesting functional arms are destroyed somehow? If they were destroyed, they wouldn't be moving.
>>
>>23746887
It can still move at the elbow. The rest is disabled. It is broken.
>>
>>23746886
i will chimp out about mg barbatos hands when i finish it
>>
>>23746888
No, it can still move the hands too. The Delta Plus has zero issue manipulating the beam magnum.
>>
>>23746881
Don't feel that bad, most of this thread today is people refusing to accept definitions of things.
Also most things people say about RGs are exaggerated. They want them to be played with like toys, instead of posed like models. Things the Tallgeese thing is just saying "If you have an issue around this, it is common and you can find solutions" vs if you have something dumb like "my Chinese metal frame keeps not locking together do I need to sand this metal part, this metal part, the Chinese plastic part inside, or the Bandai plastic it is popping out of?"

Why I said MagnaGarurumon earlier is because they're doing what the original toys for him and KaiserGreymon did: combine into Susanoomon and the ZERO-ARMS: Orochi. Why we're getting this now is further developing the Digital World: Shambala, which is hinted to get a lot more representation in Digimon Beatbreak. Amaterasumon is already hinted to have a connection with Susanoomon, and Gekkomon is most likely bound to become Tsukuyomimon soon.

as the other person talking about my early RGs I don't have the Sinanju so I can't speak to its quality and won't pretend to. I didn't buy a bunch of the "middle" RGs.
>>
>>23746984
This is why reusing Advanced MS Joints in Real Grades when they don't hold up well is a bad idea. They did that with both the Sinanju and GP01 with the exact same frame as the Mk-II, and the Akatsuki using the Strike frame. The Destiny, Justice, and Strike Freedom are simple victims for canonically sharing the same frame as the Freedom, and it may extend to the 00 Quanta for using the frame shared with the Exia and 00, though that frame is a "your mileage may vary" thing as it works on more but not on one (on top of some joint improving parts on the 00 XN Raiser).
>>
>>23746979
I feel like all you haven't build both of those kits at all to tell which problem specifictly. Sinanju's arm is the least of its issue. The torso is the worst thing about it to the point Changs had to make a conversion kit to fix it. God Gundam's bootlegs fix the arms by adjusting the fitment to secure the pegs. You can make both faggot and chad from the same human skeleton by using different flesh and skin but apparently this thread stop understanding this logic.

>>
>>23746991
they hold up fine in the earlier kits, provided you don't treat them like happy meal toys. sinanju is in a weird spot because it reused a frame from a proportionally smaller kit on a larger, bulkier design. square cube law exists.

And the Akatsuki has an imposing shelf presence because of the gold chrome plating... until it no longer does because of the old joints, so much that making him stand is already trouble. The Duel Blitz has since given us an alternative frame option, since it is a modern take of the Strike's frame structure that the Akatsuki also shares, and if we do get that for an HGCE, they will use the Duel Blitz frame by being structurally better and still have added articulation than the HGCE and EG Strike molds. With no polycaps.

The RG was based on the original statue, it came first. Real Grade, because it was the Real Gundam built with detail emulating it. The MG 3.0 emulated the RG in 1/100, not the other way around. It came a little later.

I still haven't built mine actually, I have a backlog of a few RX-78 MGs now.

Investigate your local facebook marketplace gunpla listings. I (almost) bought an RG X-2 from some dude for cheap and I would have bought it if not for Peeb finally releasing Haze'nthley II Rah
>>
>>23747076
They're based on the same statue.
>>
>>23747079
Oh I realized you wanted the X-1 not the X-2 anyway. Then again, maybe you wanted either. The RG X-2 just lives on the PB store.

Just because you can fold a genderless robot toy does not mean you are gay.

How is Bandai's animal kits? They have a Spinosaurus but it's the JP3 Spino and not the JW4 Spino

The Figure-rise Standard kit doesn't have any weapon-holding hands (why would it, she's a horse and horses don't need weapons), but you can easily swap them out for 30MS hands. Those are still going to take a little work, but it's doable.

That said, I do have a 30MS Teio that I snapped together...

I'M GONNA FUCKING DO IT

No.

HG hands are connected to the arm via a ball joint; 30MS, 30MF, and humanoid Figure-rise Standard hands are connected via two pegs that make a pivoting joint.
