"Thank you for righting the world's wrongs!" Talking about Kumade Mashiro's final moments—Number One Sentai Gozyuger's GozyuPolar / Kumade Mashiro actor Kimura Kaiki

Settling the score with Calamity boss "Rex"
>>Episode 48 saw Kumade Mashiro risk his life to defeat Calamity boss "Rex," leading to a shocking conclusion. What were your thoughts when you read the script?

>Kimura Kaiki (as GozyuPolar / Kumade Mashiro, hereafter Kimura): When I read the script, I cried myself. It was so emotional—thinking about Mashiro's past, the fact that he could defeat that ultimate enemy, Calamity, with his own hands. Since Gozyugeris Tono Hoeru's story, I had a feeling it might be tough for me to take it down personally. I'd always played Mashiro with a strong sense of enmity toward Calamity, so learning I'd finally crush it myself ignited these intense emotions. Every line felt like something only Kumade Mashiro could say. At first, I was just like, "Whoa! Thank you so much!" But once I started thinking about the emotions and phrasing, each powerful line really stuck with me as uniquely his. That's why he could shoulder everything. I thought he was so cool, but at the same time, there was joy in performing it alongside the pressure and high bar. After a year, it felt like the final big hurdle. Once I cleared it, it really hit me: my Kumade Mashiro is done.
(1/?)
>>
>>23745649
>>Episode 48 ended with a barrage of Mashiro's passionate lines. How was the filming?

>Kimura: When I get fired up, I tend to blast through everything at once, which can come off as monotonous from the outside. Director Tazaki gave direction like, "Focus on connecting words and vary the phrasing", so there was a challenge in balancing raw emotion with visual delivery. The episode has a lot of invisible effects, like rings floating around me. On set, I'd learn, "Oh, this is where that effect goes". For the final defeat, with the ground splitting and magma rising as the face melts—it was described in words, but I wondered how it'd look in footage. Imagining it while acting was tough. For the Rex takedown, I poured my soul into it, totally lost in the moment. In spots throughout, I felt, "This is really the end".

Kumade Mashiro's cool send-off
>>Any wrap-up memories?

>Kimura: Wrap-up didn't feel real at all—it just slipped by. Words flowed easily because I wasn't processing it. But during the final dub session, we did it in sequence, and seeing episode 48's last scene—everyone's rings descending to Hoeru—made it sink in, and I cried during the dub. "It's over... The Gozyuger world is over...". Tegasword says, "The Number One is you", ending the ring war at episode 48's close—that's when Gozyuger's end really hit me. Mashiro's mission was fulfilled there, so watching that scene after the takedown, tears wouldn't stop. I was holding back, but they came anyway—it was embarrassing. "Wait, now!?" I told Director Tazaki, "It just hit me. It's ending, huh, Gozyuger". He replied, maybe hiding his own feelings, "Well, let's wrap it up quick then (lol)"—classic Tazaki (laugh).

>>The finale is just 5 days away.

>Kimura: Episode 48 ends on a pretty sad note. I'm not sure how much of what I wanted for Mashiro they incorporated, but when asked, "How do you want Kumade Mashiro to go out?" I'd say, "Cool death, please." Whether they picked up on that or not, I'm thrilled he ended so cool to the very last.

>>Please share highlights from the finale, episode 49 "We Are Number One Sentai Gozyuger!"

>Kimura: Episode 49 reveals what the wishless Tono Hoeru from episode 1 ultimately wishes for, and how the Gozyuger story wraps up. I hope everyone enjoys that—it's hard to imagine, so watch while guessing. Focus especially on what Hoeru chooses.

Thank you for righting the world's wrongs!
>>One word from you to Kumade Mashiro after playing him for a year?

>Kimura: Without a doubt, "Thank you". Wait... "Thank you very much!" More than anyone, you protected Earth, righted its wrongs, shouldered everything with strength, said little, and ended it all so cool—thank you! As an actor, this incredible man pulled me along and helped me grow, so "Thank you very much!" sums it up.

>>What would you say to your battle comrades GoodeBurn and BearKuma?

>Kimura: To GoodeBurn, "Thank you for meeting me." To BearKuma, "Thank you for being by my side". Without GoodeBurn, I wouldn't have revived, and having him admire me so much was a huge confidence boost and support. BearKuma was there when I awoke from sealing with no place to belong. For Mashiro, BearKuma was the one constant from before the seal—his emotional anchor. In scenes talking to BearKuma, even without dialogue on set, staring into his eyes stirred deep feelings. As a partner, truly thank you. "Thank you" is all that comes to mind.

>>A message to the Gozyuger staff who supported you for a year?

>Kimura: It all boils down to "Thank you so much". We ran this race together for a year. We were so close—staff inviting me to meals, going to movies with the assistant director—it enriched my work and private life, all thanks to them. I'm a huge people person; without talking to others, I lose myself. They supported me so much. I want to repay them. This Super Sentai set feels like a home base for actors, so I'll keep striving to give back.

>>Finally, a message to the fans who supported Number One Sentai Gozyuger and GozyuPolar / Kumade Mashiro for a year.

>Kimura: Thank you so much for your support this year. Your cheers reached me, fueling me to make it even more enjoyable and cooler for you all—that motivation kept me going. Mashiro's spirit... his god lives on in all of you, so let's keep those memories and souls in our hearts forever. Thank you for this year! Here's to more ahead!

The Curiosity Unique to Kinjiro That Pursues "Party People" Without Giving Up — Interview with Jin Matsumoto, who plays GozyuEagle / Takehara Kinjiro in "Number One Sentai Gozyuger"
Kinjiro Fought While Holding Onto His Strong Wish
>>The script depicted the battle between Kinjiro and Sumino in the Ring Battle. What were your thoughts upon reading it?

>Jin Matsumoto (as GozyuEagle / Takehara Kinjiro, hereafter Matsumoto): It felt like, "The time has finally come for us Gozyugers to fight each other." I knew it would happen eventually, but when it did, it still shook me up inside. I think the contrast between Sumipoyo and my own wishes was portrayed really well. There were lots of scenes where each character reexamines their wish, like "What was my wish again?" It was a shoot packed with so much to think about.
(4/?)
>>
>>23745658
>>What did you focus on in your performance?

>Matsumoto: In terms of acting, I made sure to emphasize that everyone holds onto their strong, unwavering wishes. "No one's wish is weak"—that's core to Gozyuger's theme. Even if it was about letting Sumipoyo win, at the root of it, I wanted to convey that "I fought while holding onto a proper, strong wish".

>>Toward the end, your relationship with Mr. Shining Knife & Ms. Sweet Cake deepened too.

>Matsumoto: In episode 43, "Decisive Battle Kuon! A Gift from the Angel", I said to Mr. Shining Knife & Ms. Sweet Cake, "Someday, we can be tea-drinking buddies". I was shocked that it actually came true. Looking back, Knife & Cake helped me realize my ultimate wish. I was surprised at how deep the bond between Kinjiro and Knife & Cake became.

>>You probably had many scenes acting alongside Masaki Kobayashi, who plays Takehara Joji.

>Matsumoto: Before meeting Kobayashi-san, when I first heard vaguely about this role, I was like, "What am I gonna do?" But in episode 4, "Party TimeDreaming Old Man", in the scene where he states his wish to "become Party People", I got to watch his performance right in front of me. That scene made me think, "I can build this role with Kobayashi-san". It really reassured me. He's quite a bit older than me, but seeing him go all out like that up close made me feel like, "Kinjiro can go wild too, and we can create this together—I'm good".

Gozyuger Is a Temporary Alliance for Each Until the Very End
>>Any memorable moments from the wrap party?

>Matsumoto: It was the naming pose scene with Rikuo, Ryugi, and Kinjiro—the three of us. When Gozyuger filming started, director Tazaki gave us a small toy car. He said, "Use your emotions as the engine to make the car run", explaining how he wanted us to act and move our bodies based on emotions throughout the year. I brought that toy car to the wrap-up day, hoping we could wrap together with it. I cried a ton.

>>23745660
>>Over the year, how was it working with Fuyuno Mio as the lead?

>Matsumoto: Everyone grew, but Mio-kun had the most shooting days from the start. Even in episodes 1 and 2, he never complained—he led by example on set. Rather than talking about acting, he spoke through his back, making us think, "If Mio-kun's pushing this hard, we have no choice but to keep up". He's a really strong guy and an amazing leader.

>The finale is just 4 days away. Tell us the highlights of episode 49, "We Are Number One Sentai Gozyuger".

>Matsumoto: Rather than "defeating a strong enemy together" or "friends", Gozyuger feels like "temporary alliances for each person's goals"—and that holds true until the end. They cooperate, but it's always for their own purposes and wishes, so keep an eye on that. Hoeru didn't even know his own wish from start to finish—he was searching for it. But in the end, that wish comes from his relationships with the other Gozyugers. Hoeru sees the Gozyugers as hugely important. They're rivals and comrades, and everyone influenced him deeply. Watching the finale, you'll feel the bonds shaping his final wish.

The Curiosity Unique to Kinjiro
>>A message for the Gozyuger staff who supported you for a year?

>Matsumoto: Thank you for warmly and kindly watching over us clueless rookies. We made the same mistakes at the beginning and end of the year, but without everyone, Gozyuger wouldn't have happened. It was an honor to create it together thanks to the staff. I hope to return having grown into a cool, successful version of myself. Stay healthy and let's keep pushing!

>>One word from you to Takehara Kinjiro, whom you've portrayed for a year?

>Matsumoto: After walking together for a year, I'd say, "You did great never giving up on pursuing Party People!" That curiosity is something wonderful and unique to Kinjiro.
(6/?)
>>
>>23745663
>>Finally, a message to the fans who've supported No.1 Sentai Gozyuger and GozyuEagle / Kinjiro for a year?

>Matsumoto: Thank you so much for praising the characters every week and always sharing your thoughts on Gozyuger. Your feedback—like "Here's a perspective I hadn't thought of" or "You like this about the character"—helped build the work. Number One Sentai Gozyuger was created by everyone, including the fans. I hope it makes you think, "I'm glad I stuck with Super Sentai this long" or "I'm glad I loved Gozyuger". Thanks to parents who showed it to their kids too. Seeing you all energized gave us power—it was a truly grateful year. Even after Super Sentai ends, we'll always be heroes! We'll keep striving to be cool anytime, so please keep watching over us.

Meeting Bakugami Ryugi Was a Turning Point in My Life—Masakazu Kanda (GozyuTyranno / Bakugami Ryugi)
The Role of Giving Rikuo a Wake-Up Call to Set Him Straight
>>In the latter half of the series, Ryugi's past alliance with Rikuo and their relationship are explored more deeply. In episode 41, "The Final Key! Bouquet of Destruction and Creation No. 1", the scene where GozyuLeon and GozyuTyranno save the girl, and the moment Ryugi finally merges with TegaSword, generated a huge response, right?

>Masakazu Kanda (Kanda hereafter): It was super hero-like! I was shocked when I saw the finished product. I thought, "I was doing hero stuff like that?" It was insanely cool! I'm talking about it like it happened to someone else (laughs). Watching the broadcasted episode, I realized, "So that's how it turned out". "TegaSword GozyuTyranno" was cool too!
(7/?)
>>
>>23745664
>>In episode 47, "GO FIGHT Rikuo! When a Hundred Nights Dawn," it turns into a ring battle between Rikuo and Ryugi, escalating into an unexpected bouquet and producer showdown.

>Kanda: I never imagined it'd be a bouquet producer showdown. But it felt right for Rikuo and Ryugi, and I liked how Ryugi steps in again to give the hesitant Rikuo a wake-up call and set him straight. Episode 41 was like that too, right? Giving a pep talk to the wavering Rikuo. I was happy that episode 47 emphasized it even more in the script.

>>Episodes where Ryugi shines often highlight his coolness as a person.

>Kanda: That's spot on with the "cool" part. All the past Ryugi episodes turned out cool. Not just visually or in dialogue, but the human elements really shine. Before, he came off more like "this rough weirdo", but they wrote him with more humanity and coolness as a person, which I'm truly grateful for.

>>I feel like you brought out Ryugi's human side through your acting, despite his intense character setup. Was there anything specific you focused on in your performance?

>Kanda: I'm really glad you say that. It's not like I consciously changed much day-to-day. I always kept in mind that "Ryugi is human too". So I approached it carefully from scratch, doing it as the script intended but infusing how I would do it or my image of Ryugi.

>>The Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club spin-off "Gozyuger Supplementary Plan: Number One Confessional" No. 35, the episode 41 Supplementary Plan "IDOL", also delved into his relationship with Rikuo.

>Kanda: It was a rare serious episode in the Confessional series. Not much goofing around (laughs). They made me look cool in it too. I watched the finished product at the same time as the fans, thinking, "Cool!"
(8/?)
>>
>>23745665
>>Ryuko-neesan was great in the Confessional too.

>Kanda: Thanks for watching even the Confessional—that's some serious fandom! Ryuko-neesan takes a lot of energy out of me (laughs). But I had a blast doing it!

Savor the Gozyugers' Miracle in the Finale
>>Any wrap-up memories from crank-up?

>Kanda: I wore the "GozyuTyranno" suit at crank-up. I'd worn it once before at a location shoot, and it felt the same—my lifelong dream come true. I'd always wanted to do that "suit with the face visible" look from watching as a kid. At crank-up, doing it again filled me with joy like "My dream came true", but also "This is the end. Monster Power Preacher GozyuTyranno", mixed with loneliness. After a year, it was bittersweet—happy, sad, relieved, all warm fuzzy feelings swirling together. I was constantly cozy and warm inside.

>>The finale airs in just 3 days. What are the highlights of episode 49, "We Are No.1 Sentai Gozyuger"?

>Kanda: Episode 48 has the sad development where all the Gozyugers disappear, but episode 49 features their dramatic miracle, so please savor that miracle to the fullest!

Bakugami Ryugi Is Always in the Corner of My Mind
>>A message for the Gozyuger staff who supported you for a year?

>Kanda: Thank you so much for everything. Preparing such glamorous costumes and hair/makeup—big thanks to the makeup and costume teams first. They worked in even tighter schedules than us, so it must've been tough. Completing Gozyuger was thanks to every single staff member involved in shooting. I can't thank you enough! It was so much fun! Thanks to everyone's efforts, we stuck almost perfectly to the schedule—starting and ending on time, even with breaks. Despite everything over the year, their unity made completion possible. Nothing but gratitude. Thank you! Looking forward to working with you again!
(9/?)
>>
>>23745667
>>A word from you to Bakugami Ryugi, whom you've portrayed for a year?

>Kanda: Thank you for coming into my life. Meeting Ryugi was a turning point not just in my life but my acting career. Literally, until I die, Bakugami Ryugi will always be in the corner of my mind. I'd tell him "Thank you" and "Good work for the year".

>>And a word to TegaSword, whom you've devoutly followed for a year?

>Kanda: Same as with Bakugami Ryugi—thank you for meeting me. As episodes overlapped, TegaSword gained so much humanity... At first, he was super "god-like," but gradually his cuteness emerged—getting troubled, those adorable moments, even conversations. We fought No. One and Calamity together. Thank you for the year! Thanks for showing that cute side! I'll worship you forever, so if anything comes up, help me out. I'd say "Save me!" (laughs).

>>Finally, a message to the fans who supported Gozyuger and Bakugami Ryugi for a year?

>Kanda: Thank you for cheering us on for a year, and for loving Bakugami Ryugi. There's G Rosso coming up too, so hope to see you there. Sticking with the show from episode 1 to 49 isn't a given. Even in dramas, people drop after 1-2 episodes, so fans who watched to the end mean the world—pure gratitude. Blu-rays are coming too, so check those out. I hope it remains a work that leaves something in your lives. When tough or sad times hit, thinking of No.1 Sentai Gozyuger washes away the negativity. That's my heartfelt wish, so keep enjoying it!

The Fateful Conclusion with Bouquet, and Friendship with Ryugi—No.1 Sentai Gozyuger GozyuLeon / Byakuya Rikuo Role, Hideharu Suzuki
Resolution with Bouquet, Friendship with Ryugi
>In episode 42, "Eternal LIVE! A Bouquet for the Rikuonist", the showdown with Bouquet unfolds. How was it acting as Rikuo against the "Bouquet of Destruction"?
(10/?)
>>
>>23745670
>Hideharu Suzuki (Suzuki hereafter), who plays GozyuLeon / Byakuya Rikuo: This was the biggest event for both Rikuo and Bouquet, where their true identities are revealed. Marupi-san, who plays Bouquet, came at me with incredible intensity. Even during GozyuLeon's dubbing sessions, I could feel that energy, which made it easier to perform. As Rikuo too, when facing her, I felt pulled into that intensity and was able to clash back with the same emotions. I really thought that worked well. "Bouquet of Destruction" is probably her true form, but as a viewer myself, I felt like I'd want her to "come back." Rikuo really wanted her to return too.

>>In the latter half, your relationship with Ryugi deepens as well.

>Suzuki: I think Ryugi and Rikuo's relationship has a lot of unspoken parts that aren't explicitly shown. From the beginning, they appeared together already, right? On SNS, people were saying things like "Rikuo might have created this Gozyuger", so I think they're original members. When confronting Bouquet, their friendship came into view. I don't think either is the type to talk much about private matters. Rikuo does throw around light jabs, but Ryugi is pretty cool, and scenes where he opens up about personal stuff are only in really serious moments. They don't say it out loud, but they understand each other deep down. In reality, they're both kind and care for each other, but there's some shyness too, right? I felt they both consciously see each other as comrades who keep that in their hearts but help out when it counts.
(11/?)
>>
>>23745672
>>And in episode 47, "GO FIGHT Rikuo! When a Hundred Nights Dawn", the ring battle with Ryugi reaches its conclusion.

>Suzuki: Watching to the end, the flashbacks and interactions with Ryugi in episode 41 made episode 47 hit even harder emotionally. They're both strong-willed types, so for that final clash scene, Masa-kun (Kanda-san) and I discussed it together. We talked about, "Is Ryugi really angry here?" Is he angry out of care for Rikuo, or because Rikuo is treating Tegsword-sama a bit carelessly to achieve his own dreams? Since Ryugi reveres Tegsword-sama, is that why he's mad? We hashed out stuff like that.

>>Bouquet's scene cheering Rikuo on with "Seize it now! Number One!!" felt like the culmination of their relationship.

>Suzuki: It really felt like "this is the end." I even thought to myself, "How long is Rikuo going to mope?" (laughs). With Rei-san and now Bouquet, even at the end, Rikuo still lacks confidence in himself. I think he could have more self-assurance, and I felt that way too.

>>Rikuo has overcome a lot as one of the main characters.

>Suzuki: I was grateful to be involved in storylines tied to the main plot, always connected to key characters.

The Difference Between Episode 1 and the Finale: We're with Hoeru Now
>>Any memories from the wrap party?

>Suzuki: The wrap ended with a roll call scene. It felt a bit abrupt in retrospect. At the end, they said "That's a wrap!" as usual after shooting, and I thought, "Oh, it's really over", but in my mind, it still felt like there were six more months ahead. Shooting was done, but as Byakuya Rikuo, I knew I had to keep going for at least another half year. Emotionally, the burden lifted a bit and I felt relieved.
(12/?)
>>
>>23745675
>>The finale airs in just 2 days. What are the highlights of episode 49, "We Are No.1 Sentai Gozyuger"?

>Suzuki: They're all fighting in their grown forms. Ultimately, what Hoeru wished for becomes clear in the finale too. Understanding why FireCandle fought so passionately all this time makes their battle super emotional. The big difference from episode 1 is that we're with Hoeru now. Hoeru, who was a lone wolf, faces the enemy as part of the Gozyuger team. I think it'll be a satisfying finale for viewers.

>>Any message for the Gozyuger staff who supported you for a year?

>Suzuki: Before becoming Rikuo, I really had nothing. Joining as a Gozyuger member and becoming the hero I admired—I'm truly grateful. Everyone warmly welcomed me and taught me everything from scratch, so I'm glad it was that kind of set. I'm happy that who I am now is thanks to all of you. In the midst of "I'm gonna make it in showbiz!", Gozyuger became my foundation, which fills me with joy. It really feels like it's all thanks to everyone.

>>One word from you to Byakuya Rikuo, whom you've portrayed for a year?

>Suzuki: First, I'd tell Rikuo, "Stop moping already". I think I'm more confident than average, but I'd also say "Don't push yourself." Rikuo grew a lot himself. Before the ring battles started, he relied on a ring to return as a top idol. In the end, he grabbed his dream on his own without one—thanks to his Gozyuger comrades, his potential, and hidden strengths. I really respect that about the character. Next, "Become an idol who can fill a dome". I'm full of "Thank you for the year".

>>Rikuo stayed consistently human throughout the year.

>Suzuki: When I read the script for episode 2, I thought he was this super anime-like, unrealistic character. But to sustain it for a year, I wanted to add human elements and emotions for depth. I aimed for a balance of character flair and humanity, and if that held steady, I'm glad.
(13/?)
>>
>>23745677
>>Finally, a message to all the Rikuonists who supported Gozyuger and GozyuLeon / Byakuya Rikuo for a year.

>Suzuki: Thank you for supporting Rikuo for a whole year! From the start, Rikuo had more live stage scenes than others, with lots of fan interactions. As we went on, I really felt the Rikuonists steadily growing—TTFC (Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club) extras would come and say "I'm a fan!" or "I'm a Rikuonist!" Same on SNS, but the ones always by my side were the Rikuonists. It gave me huge confidence in my role; the best moments were when they were happy too. They truly supported me the whole time—I'm overflowing with gratitude. Rikuo will live on, so I'd be thrilled if you stay Rikuo fans and Rikuonists forever. "Thank you so much!"

What is Hoeru's Wish? The Endpoint of Gozyuger — Interview with Mio Fuyuno (GozyuWolf / Tono Hoeru) from No.1 Sentai Gozyuger

Acting on the feelings of the moment on set
>>Let's talk about Hoeru in the late stages. Episode 43 brought closure to his long-standing feud with Kuon. How was the filming?

>Mio Fuyuno (GozyuWolf / Tono Hoeru role; hereafter Fuyuno): Episode 43 ranks among the most memorable shoots so far. It was the conclusion of the brothers' long story—and Kuon's final moments—so it really stuck with me. When we filmed the scene where Kuon dies, during my crying part, Karma-san helped draw out my emotions by saying at the end, "I'm glad my little brother is Mio". That really got my feelings flowing, and I felt his love supporting me—it was unforgettable.
(14/?)
>>
>>23745680
>>Episodes 44 and 45 featured Teruaki Ogawa as Ninja Red / Sasuke. How was it working with a senior Red?

>Fuyuno: It was a blast. He threw in tons of ad-libs, and they were hilarious every time (laughs). Ogawa-san asked me, "Is this how Reiwa-era responses go?" and I replied, "Totally~" In the actual take, he said "Totally~" back, and it came off super gal-like and funny. Even after 30 years, his action scenes were so dynamic and cool—that left a big impression.

>>Episode 48's climax sees Kumade Mashiro settling things with Calamity's boss "Rex", ending with Hoeru's overflowing sadness.

>Fuyuno: That was heartbreaking. I put a lot of thought into how to play it—not too character-like, but full of human emotion. Since acting happens on set, I set aside my prep and just went with my feelings in the moment. I remember a real mix of sadness and anger surging up.

>>Finally, tomorrow's the finale. Tell us the highlights of Episode 49, We Are No.1 Sentai Gozyuger.

>Fuyuno: For Tono Hoeru, he started without a wish, grew through various experiences and encounters, and this episode shows one endpoint of that journey. You get a glimpse of his future resolve. Pay attention to "What is Hoeru's wish?" and what endpoint he reaches. Plus, there are tons of simply cool moments—definitely check them out.

>>Daisuke Sambongi (FireCandle role) said, "Mio had such a great expression in the finale".

>Fuyuno: I can't forget Sambongi-san's expression in the finale either. I told him his slightly pathetic, wistful face really hit me, and he replied, "No, that was you, Mio!" He said my face looked amazing, so in that sense, it was a scene where our hearts connected. I think it really came together through our mutual influence.

I wanted to grow alongside Hoeru's development
>>Any wrap party memories?

>Fuyuno: We were originally supposed to wrap as the full Gozyuger team, but I came down with a fever right before and had to miss it—my first sick day in the year. So my wrap and Kumade's got pushed a day, and we couldn't do it all together. But I watched everyone else's wrap first. Everyone was emotional; Kin-chan (Jin Matsumoto) was crying, Hide (Hideharu Suzuki) was teary-eyed. Kanda-san had that mature poise, but the younger ones were sobbing—it really hit me that "Gozyuger is ending". My own wrap was surprisingly calm. It didn't fully sink in; I ended up feeling kinda floaty, like "Is this really it?"

>>In your interview at the start of broadcasting, when we asked about dreams or wishes for the year, you said, "I'd like to grow a full year older". How do you feel now?

>Fuyuno: I grew a ton. I got to experience so much—daily shoots, action, voice work, standing before fans as Gozyuger. I approached filming with the mindset of keeping up with Hoeru's growth, and through it all, I really feel like I did.

A fateful encounter with Tono Hoeru
>>One word for the staff who supported you for a year?

>Fuyuno: Over such a long year, it's not just fun stuff—tough things happen too. I was amazed by the staff's handling of it all, and the bright atmosphere on set kept the cast going. Producer Daigo Matsuura once said, "A pinch is a chance" and this show made that real. The staff's humanity in rising to it was incredible. I respect them deeply and am full of gratitude.

>>Anything memorable from talks with director Ryuta Tasaki?

>Fuyuno: If I pick one, it's when he said, "I want to work with you again". He said it about another project—he doesn't say stuff like that often, so it came from the heart and made me thrilled. Going forward, I'll work hard as an actor to team up with Tasaki and Matsuura again.
(16/17)
>>
Sorry if this is a retarded question, but did O-T confirm that they'll sub Gavan?
>>
>>23745684
>>If you could say one thing to Tono Hoeru, whom you've portrayed for a year?

>Fuyuno: It was a fateful encounter. Sounds weird saying it myself, but a role this easy to play—one so close to me—might not come again. I'm truly glad for that destiny, and I'd say, "Thank you".

>>Finally, a message to the fans who supported No.1 Sentai Gozyuger and GozyuWolf / Tono Hoeru for a year.

>Fuyuno: Thank you for your support this year! Fans, you really hyped up No.1 Sentai Gozyuger—we're so grateful. Everyone involved surely drew strength from your cheers, and I know I did. "I truly thank you for this year!". Even after No.1 Sentai Gozyuger ends, heroes go on—so please look forward to the next ones too.

NTA and maybe and mishearing but I don't see Tomioka mentioning anything about the show being serialized, all I hear is him giving vague comments like "this is a new stage" and saying the action exceeded his expectations. Also Fukuzawa commenting about how he had the actors do a portion of the audition on set to test their action skills and that apperently the actors didn't need much hand-holding, wording if it's due to the action aspect that the male cast is older than usual
>>

Zeztz's are pretty good by official subs standards, they're understandable and they translate the text on-screen
The only time I've had an issue with them in terms of quality was the latest episode where it was really noticeable that the subbed text wasn't what the characters were actually saying, I don't know what the hell happened there?

But the biggest issue is the way they release the subs is retarded, the latinamerican subs release is way better but then the spanish/portuguese subs are worse than the english ones for some reason

Basically they're trying to use colloquialisms instead of translating in some parts but for dialogues that don't need it, it's a minor issue since it doesn't affect the story but still I don't want this to become the norm later on since before the subs were perfectly fine aside from one minor typo in one episode

What would the other team members be?
Obvious choice of a green frog but then where to go? Something that'd be easily readable in the design, distinctly "origami" and also mapping onto the team. Pink flower, yellow star, and blue boat perhaps?
>>
>>23746304
It's a distillation of the basic concept of super sentai: a team of (usually) five superheroes in contrast to Riders usually not being a team. The concept behind Sentai is very archetypal much like the Fantastic Four is at Marvel/DC. The problem isn't hte concept, but really translating the idea to merchandising, which Bandai has dropped the ball majorly.

I assume seju and Toei ignored the gossip and only made her silent on social medias while still continue filming but then there's a catch; the G-Rosso Show 3, where the face actors actually appear in the stageshow, is getting closer, not to mention Cho Eiyu Sai and Final Live Tour later where they need to have her in person. So rather than something bad happening in a live show, they decided to kick her out.
Seeing how Maya started to retweet Gozyuger posts on late October and still filming episode 47 in early November, it feels like seju already prepared a proof of her drinking from sometime before because I doubt she's suddenly drinking very close to the firing day.

Did they really force the two vice producers to dye their hair, I thought they coincidentally had dyed their hair that way before they were hired but clearly they had black hair during the pre-production

The silver hair one is obviously gay for Bushido and the blonde hair one is obviously a gooner for Luminous. They did it willingly

Interview with head producer Yoshito Kuji and vice producers Takuto Watanabe and Takahashi Ryouhei, who are in charge with the worldview of the dimensions of Bushido and Luminous respectively

The Inside Story of Fukuzawa's Appointment as Director

>Kuji: A lot of people probably associate Director Fukuzawa with action, but it's his sensibility—not just that part, but his sense for creating images—that really shines through in this work, I think. What struck me as super interesting when talking with Hirofumi Fukuzawa is that he storyboards and shoots from there, and it's like, yeah, this is just like haiku or maybe like drawing manga. I love peeking behind the scenes of manga creation or haiku-making, and ultimately, it's about how to guide the viewer's gaze with limited frames per page in a set number of minutes or pages, or how much you can expand the imagery in the audience's minds despite the word limits. Doing it myself, I really felt how that applies to filmmaking too, and he just casually dropped lines like that. I was blown away by that mindset, and approaching it with that kind of thinking and enjoying the process felt really fresh and surprising to me. Directors really see things that way sometimes, and there's this world of imagery they capture through that lens. If you watch it, you'll get it—it's beyond expectations, even for me, so I hope everyone enjoys that part too.

Behind the Scenes of Hiring Screenwriter Tomioka

>Kuji: It's not some unreasonable demand, but at the very start, when talking with Tomioka-san about building the world, we said, "First off, with Gavan coming out, let's create worldviews for each of the three where any one of them could carry the lead". We want to build a world where all sorts of heroes can stand side by side from here on. No matter who becomes the hero, their supporting roles, backgrounds, pasts, or even futures should hold up. For Gavan Infinity, we'll explore Infinity's side, but even if it shifts to Bushido or Luminous hypothetically, we aimed for worldviews robust enough to sustain a full year of episodes. "Let's make at least three of those, okay?"

>Ryouhei: Our time to develop was the usual tight schedule, but basically, we charged ahead like, "We're making three works here". Tomioka-san loved that and rolled with it. There were setting materials already partially done when I joined, and when I read them, the page count was insane— it was so many pages, incredibly detailed. At this stage, when we're just building episodes 1 and 2 or the early parts, it's rare to have settings this fleshed out. The density is off the charts, I think.

Behind the Scenes of Casting

>Ryouhei: This time, the protagonist is a mid-level detective rather than a total rookie cop, someone who's stepped in a fair bit of crap already, so we picked casting that could convey that persuasive backstory. Finding the right Reiji was tough, as I said. That sense of composure— rookie actors just couldn't pull it off for the role. It was a real struggle, but the moment Nagata-kun showed up, I thought, "Perfect".

>Kouhei Nagata who plays Reiji / Gavan Infinity, at the cast audition: It still feels like a dream, but I really hope we deliver this work to everyone with a true sense of responsibility. Please look forward to it from here.

>Watanabe: What was memorable was after the final audition— I was seeing them off a bit, and Nagata-kun didn't realize I was watching from above, but I saw him shaking hands with everyone, saying "Thank you very much" as he left. In that moment, I knew: This is the guy. This is Reiji. Yesterday, he was casually talking about how, since you never know when death might come in this, he wants to live each moment as earnestly as possible— just overhearing that in normal conversation, I thought, "This guy's got fire". He's living Reiji right in front of us, and I feel that every day watching Nagata-san.

The reason behind choosing Gavan

>Kuji: On the topic of freshness, Toei tokusatsu has a history of trying new things every year, things that haven't been done before. This time is the same—we're aiming for something new again. Project R.E.D itself was a "do whatever" project, but among options like doing Gavan, that was probably the optimal choice, in my view, so we went with it. Sure, there might've been "same name" vibes, but with stuff like Kamen Rider or Gundam, series or eras reinterpret words and meanings for IPs. In that sense, using Gavan as the content to try this, or doing so as a step to show Project R.E.D can handle that kind of thing— we could've made a totally new hero, but by deliberately choosing this, we're broadening the possibilities, I feel.

The Producer's Favorite Points

>Watanabe: The big premise, of course, is that it's insanely cool—100%, 120% cool. That's the first charm of this work, no doubt. On top of that, it's got emotional stories that even people who haven't watched tokusatsu before can enjoy, with real depth to each character. I've been deep into human drama works myself, and even I was moved— the more you dig into each character, the more flavor comes out. So that's one point where even tokusatsu newbies can have a blast.

>Ryouhei: It's not just standard battle manga, but with these thick lines of dialogue and thick characters, super standout personalities— it's manga-like, or anime-Manga-esque. In regular dramas, you don't get that depth of character, so the heat—the character intensity—you won't see in other works is what you get here.

>Kuji: And tokusatsu's ultimate appeal is the real-time factor. Like I said earlier, they make it at breakneck speed: "Done! Here it is—eat it while it's hot!" It's way tastier that way. Don't miss the ride; it'd be such a waste. Since we're all enjoying it together, feel that heat in real time, get that "Oh, *this* is it" and "Whoa, intense" vibe.

Haven't been following the Gavan news, but what's the point of the sidekick girl to the other girl?
>>
>>23747972
Gavan and the OG space sheriffs had personal assistants, mostly used to get civilians to safety.
>>
>>23747972
The 3 Gavans won't start as a team at first and the staff wants to give the impression that each of their respective dimensions are their own show, so Gavan Red is the only that can actually travel dimensions and each Gavan has their own side cast, Gavan Yellow's side cast is her sidekick/bodyguard
There might also be some hidden meaning because in the promotional material they always show Gavan Yellow with dual imagery and the Yellow is a forensics expert rather than a cop so some people think that the two might fuse Kamen Rider W style when transforming, but that's just a theory and we don't actually know

Surprised he seemingly retained the color scheme of Jiraiya, specially since his battery is purple and fear-themed at least looking at it here? Wonder if they'll do a spin-off of him since he's red and the show probably won't dwell on him much

I don't like how the producers are somewhat dismissive of the questions, not properly answering why the director and writer were hired or the transfers of the two vice producers to the toku division, but the action shots look awesome and the way they're explaining the protagonist reminds me of Gira, moreover the show kinda having Sakamoto-style directing seems good at least, hopefully the reason why they didn't answer the former is because they're leaving it for Uchuusen
Hopefully they don't fuck this show up, everything shown so far with the exception of the toyline looks cool af

I don't know the first thing about Gavan, is it a liiitle bit more mature than Sentai, or does it have the same tone? I'll definitely watch the first episode, I'm not excited but just cautiously optimistic.
