>>23765841Not sure if trolling, but just in case, a bunch of the music from Zeta Gundam, and maybe some others were based on his work. That's why they didn't used the original titles for the English dub, because of licensing bullshit.
I never forget the light from that blue star above. https://youtu.be/je1_v3aaBHU
>>23765841Fucking retard.
>>23765843He really does like a Titans commander.
>>23765844And yet, oddly, when they broadcast The Origin TV recut in the US, they used a cover of Mizu no Hoshi e Ai wo Komete just fine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQPP8yKKZ-Y
>>23765848
>>23765850*look like>>23765851The rights holders probably care less about covers.
>>23765862>The rights holders probably care less about covers. The original version IS a cover. Seems odd that they'd care about that and not the newer cover
>>23765851Origin had a bigger budget, maybe they just paid to get the copyright all sorted out.
>>23765851I suppose it's just that the cost of licensing it for 13 episodes of The Origin Vs 50 episodes of Z
>>23765864>The original version IS a cover.It isn't.
>>23765838RIP Mr. Sedaka.
>>23765844>Not sure if trolling,i pretty often see posts here from people who think theyre on /mu/
>>23765905Fucking retarded newfag.
NEVER STOP BELIEVING IN THE SIGN OF ZETAhttps://youtu.be/nFCc5NLTWtchttps://youtu.be/q8bngJT2Wck
>>23765906i do though, retard
Just saw the news, came straight here, good to see a threadRIP>>23765843The Titans-like outfit has always been so good
Better days are coming!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFCc5NLTWtc
>>23765876It is. It's just that, in the case of Mizu no Hoshi, the original English version was never recorded
>>23765965It's not a cover you dumb fucking retard.
>>23765967Well then, how do you define a 'cover'? Because, to me, the Zeta OPs and ED are quite clearly covers
Where can I find a recording of the song that got used as the basis for From The Blue Planet With Love?
>>23765986It was never recorded in English
>>23765990And this matters why?
R.I.P.
>>23765992Because you're never going to find the original if it was never fucking recorded, you retard
Does this mean his songs will finally be allowed on releases of Zeta outside Japan?
>>23766007Depends. Depends on whether A) His estate wants a lot of money to licence those songsandB) Whether Bandai are willing to actually pay to licence the songsAnd there a potentially interesting factor in >>23765851, in that the rights issues MAY have already been sorted
RIPHe was never 'cool', but he was always a top tier pop composer https://youtu.be/qMxi8cJEFV0
>>23766027I remember reading a YouTube comment that a gundam fan had asked him about the song and he said he had no problem with it being released
>>23766007In 71 years after the copyrights expire.
>>23766089I’ve always thought about asking if there’d ever be an English release of “For Us to Decide,” the never-recorded song that became Zeta’s 2nd opening.
>>23766264Maybe if there's a rough demo or the lyrics somewhere.
>>23766264missed opportunity for sure for a while his youtube channel was just him recording mini-concerts he did solo with his piano https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsw5RxdM1ok seemed like a cool cat who wouldn't have minded questions like that too much
>>23766051this made me fucking cry
>>23765838Goddamn he was posting on Facebook just days ago.
My Granny used to love Neil, RIP Legend
https://youtu.be/eCby5dLv1yI>Neil Sedaka desu
>>23766007Hasn't Z's OP been in some games recentlyMaybe Japan only stuff but there was still a massive gap where it wasn't in anything at all
>>23765838You will see the tears of time...
>>23766027>>23766089I guess it was always just a matter of Sunrise not wanting to pay the rights to use the song for Zeta outside Japan since they never expected it to be shown anywhere else. For The Origin, they likely got international rights from the very start.
>>23765838Rest in peace.
>>23765838movin movin down the line
>>23765838I loved his music, RIP indeed.
>>23767040Probably. The reason a lot of older, American, TV shows have licensing issues and have to have popular music replaced is because they didn't really foresee the advent of home media and so the contracts really only licensed them to use certain songs on TV broadcasts and reruns. This is along the same line, really. Anime didn't really get exported to the West in vast quantities until about the 90s so I doubt they anticipated needing to licence Neil Sedaka's themes for outside of Asia.
I wonder what 2chan has/had to say about this. Anyone got the link to that site that sustains their expired threads for a couple of days?
