The ending is quite shit isn't it?
>>
I can’t see any other way it could’ve ended.
>>
>>23773484
Total vagan extermination after flit launches a nuke into their colony.
>>
>>23773484
Mutual annihilation, then a scene of some non-human stumbling upon the wreckage of SID which flashes ominously.
>>
>>23773484
It doesn't change the fact that it's unsatisfactory.
>>
>>23773484
>Fio's love interest is a Vagan (maybe even that sick girl so don't kill her off)
>Earth won the war, second moon suffers massive damage
>vagan becomes completely broken, decides to abandon everything and leave for jupiter/outer space
>Flit gets his wish but now has to see Fio turns into a broken man abandoned by his vagan girlfriend
>implying an earth civil war brewing
>>
>Still making AGE hate threads
I'm glad you love this show AGE rager anon.
>>

More like 80% of it is quite shit.

>starts out by poorly mimicking 0079
>Woolf and the G-Exes were pretty okay I guess, and Grodek is a pretty badass captain
>dumb fucking Yurin dying a pointless death just to give Flit the motivation to kill the UE
>it turns out that the UE are just humans abandoned centuries ago, all the potential of them being some otherworldly force is just utterly squandered
>Asemu arc starts out as a bullshit school drama with NTR and friends on opposite sides of a war
>but at least the space fights are good, and adult Flit is pretty badass
>Kio arc starts out with decent promise, the AGE-3 looks pretty sexy, and Badass Grandpa Flit just continues to steal the show
>then they do the AGE-3 Orbital dirty, plus the whole Second Moon arc and turning Kio into a pants-on-head dumbass whose morality-shaping event is watching a Vagan girl die of cancer
>but at least Old Man Obright and Ceric are pretty cool, and the Clanche is a pretty cool design
>oh, it turns out that Asemu also became a dumbass, now he's a pirate leader who's trying to balance the two sides into neutrality for who knows what fucking reason
>and now Kio gets the Super Gundam Kira Mode that he uses to try to create the ultimate world peace
>and then the show throws Girard fucking Spriggan at us in an attempt to tug at our heart strings despite her clearly being a poorly thought out rush job
>oh, and Zeheart had a rushed romance arc and died like a fucking bitch
>the final boss was never even alluded to before the penultimate episode, he's just The Ultimate Vagan with The Ultimate Vagan MS for the sake of having someone to fight in the final episode

Everyone rightly excoriated this show as it was airing, and it only got marginally redeemed by Memories of Eden. I mean, I guess for what is basically a high-budget promotional tie-in show for a video game it's okay, but as a TV show it was abysmal.

Sad.

The ending with Flit finally having the opportunity of killing off most of the Vagans simply by doing nothing and choosing to be a savior is perfect in my opinion. They fumbled a lot before then however. Zehart thankfully is partially salvaged by Memory of Eden extended scenes.

They should've had Kio be a psychopath who tries to nuke Second Moon, making Flit realize he fucked his grandson up by brainwashing him to hate Vagans and turning him into his own Desil, forcing Flit to reflect and admit he was wrong to be a hardline Vagan killer. Then in the final battle it's two genocidal kids (ezelcunts clone vs kio) but Kio decides to spare the clone kid after reflecting on his grandfather's repentance, showing how great of an impact adults have on their kids and that the adults could have stopped the intergenerational conflict from ever starting, instead of passing the curse of warfare and hatred onto each successive generation.

I wouldn't have minded murder-Flit. He finally had his chance to make good on everything he had said until then. Although it would've bee interesting if Flit had gone with Asemu to 2nd moon and done a covert infiltration. Make him actually see the space arabs he hates so much.

My issue is the asspull of "there's a clone of our space-wizard king" who launches in a very basic red eyes black dragon mech only for him to get fucking gattai'd by the crab neue zell.

They really did just run out of episodes and have to shove a bunch of shit together last minute.

>They really did just run out of episodes and have to shove a bunch of shit together last minute.
It's the exact same in the game though (which released before the last couple of episodes). That part isn't rushed it's exactly how Hino envisioned it: a video game final boss that comes out of nowhere in the last 5 minutes.

Yeah, he clearly wanted the audience to sympathize with the Vegan, even freaking Ezelcant, so the final boss had to be an enemy of everyone who appears out of nowhere. It's not a matter of pacing, it's a matter that if he had been around for longer they'd have needed to humanize him considering how thee ending of AGE went. But he wanted a game-like final boss that was hyped up for the battle and then could just be killed off.

Zera Gins (pod man) is interesting beacuse he's the end product of ezelcant's ideology and you can also see him as his son (which is relevant to a show about generations)

Ezelcant out of desperation believes that humans are cooler than they're now and as a result he thinks that the genes of the current humanity are wrong and so he decides to study how to create a new humanity that is strong enough to live without conflict, this is interesting because it's an ideology that has the exact same problem that flit's has (to believe that how someone is born determines his entire character), age 3 and 4 have a strong message of learning about others and their experiences and fighting against one's own prejudices being the key to a better world, the idea of "someone being born being an ideal person" goes completely against this concept of learning and improving, that's where zera kicks in- the embodyment of someone being born an ideal person is nothing more than an empty shell of a being, he's essentially "nothing", zera has no character outside of following orders and does not knows anything about the world, which is a direct contrasts of kio whose by experiences became a strong person, that's what the final conflict of age represents

but then again this also kinda just means that you have kio against mr nothing and i understand how that's boring for most

I'm OP and I liked the show, just thought the ending wasn't as good as what came before it.
