If really Happends, what do you think Its going to be? A new Gundam? OG series? How would he handle theses themes?.
>>
>>23785066
Well there is a thread up about a supposedly new AU series presumably about “Gundam’s vs extraterrestrials” that MIGHT have some cues to what he mentioned here
>>
I doubt he’ll ever be directing again in his life. Last appearance he did he was wheeled up to the stage in a wheelchair and leaned on a cane while delivering his speech. He might be consulted for some things but I don’t see him showing up to work every day and screaming at employees and rejecting design proposals like he did in his prime
>>
>>23785081
Maybe he's doing the screenwrite at least since his memory still works.
>>
>>23785066
I can't wait for this to be insanely hamfisted and terribly written.

>>23785091
Only if Ichiro Okouchi is involved again.

A Gundam show that discusses the way in which automating warfare and removing the human element ultimately makes it too 'easy' and consequently causes even greater death and destruction as leaders become more willing to commit to protracted struggles?
Nah, it'd never work.
>>
The thing about drones that a lot of writers don't understand, is that their main benefit is that because of their manuverability and general low cost, you can neutralize logistics installations for less money than it takes to build their target. It also means it's easier to go after high ranking officials than just wasting time mowing down grunts. You can play a lot with that concept especially if you take into account Amuro's remarks at the end of the series how his real goal is to take out the Zabis.
>>
>>23785066
This has been said repeatedly by Tomino and older anime directors. They say the new generation doesn't understand war and doesn't know how to create anime that involves war. The new generation turns war into a game and avoids the harsh realities.

(((Gundam)))

Treize was right. I think the only thing Wing got wrong was that it assumed drones would be large unmanned vehicles instead of the sentient artillery rounds most of these small drones are. There is still a place for the more classical UAVs and even UGVs in certain applications. In Ukraine UGVs have been used for casevac and as mobile sentry guns. Also nobody seemed to consider drone tech would trickle down to the little guy either, you have people making these things in sheds.
>>23785152
Time Be Still would have been a lot different if these types of drones were a thing in the 70's and if Minovsky particles didn't make wireless communication practically impossible on a battlefield. Instead of using hoverbikes they'd be flyimg fiber optic FPVs into the Gundam's joints. A setting that considers drones as a factoe would likely have built countermeasures on the mecha, like some kind of intercept system or heavy ECM jammers.

From Luna to Side 3, Spacenoida will be free.

>NOOOO YOU CAN'T SAY THAT

Perhaps you could make the gundams a two seater. One pilot coordinates the drones, and the other flies the robot. You still get your beam saber duels, but instead of grunts its just prototypes battling while their minions destory everything and the goal of any individual battle is to neutralize the swarm.
>>
>>23785269
I do like the idea of two pilot mechs, not something we so terribly often. Plus it'd be a good way to make a dual protagonist story by keeping them in contact constantly. Each pilot would essentially be having a separate fight and you could even give each pilot a rival. Drones could also be a good way to make more combined arms mecha fiction too, like imagine IFVs supporting the mechs by engaging drones before they can hit, or air support engaging swarms of larger Shahed style drones.
>>
They should put laser turrets on the mobile suits.

>>23785269
>one pilot for the funnels/bits and another for the beam swordfights
I like it. Do we do M/M for the rival/fujo appeal or M/F for selfinsertfags

I wonder if something will sport a Gundamified version of one of these

So the solution to the limited operating range of drones is having a central control unit, that being a Gundam. What if the drones themselves, in the mission to become more effective, they do away with the two-seaters in-universe (with the main characters piloting an older, retrofitted and improvised Gundam) and make the drones autonomous, with the drones eventually becoming difficult to impossible to control and continuing their mission independent of human input, resulting in a perpetual war entirely outside man's control?
>>
>>23786127
The problem is that Gundam as a concept fundamentally doesn't work unless there's Minovsky Particles or some other particle thst blocks long range communication. Otherwise viewers would asks questions like, "why does the airforce just bomb the Gundams or hit them with a missile" ? Drones won't work with Minovsky particles since the drones require long range communication
>>
>>23786151
Given how the current conflicts are going I'm honestly wondering if that's something they've given thought to in real life. Just fuck over long range for everyone to make use of your superior numbers and heavy equipment rather than risk getting backed into a corner by a technologically inferior enemy who's winning because they can cobble together more shitty explosive drones than you can.

War exists for this fag to profit off

Well the problem is that jamming IRL isn't a hard shutdown like Minovsky particles are. And even then, in UC you have things such as wire guided rockets and laser communication to get around Minovsky jamming to some extent. The battle between measure and countermeasure never ends. I mean the drones themselves are countermeasures as well. Japan actually just recently had the first flight for it's new EC-2 jammer aircraft, which basically exists as an incredibly long range jammer to fuck with enemy comms. And as far as ruining it for everyone, the mobile jammers you see field by the Ukrainians and the Russians do exactly that in a certain area. Both militaries have decided it's better to operate in the blind that risk a suicide drone drop on their heads, in some circumstances at least. Turns out just like friendly fire, friendly jamming isn't friendly. But I'm just a nerd to looks into this stuff as a hobby and I am probably getting some things wrong. I could totally see an army on the brink of destruction just say fuck the world lmao and blow up sattelites or put out so much jamming even walkie talkies don't work.
>>
>>23786718
Also forgot to post a picture of the EC-2, I love how silly it looks.
>>
>>23786720
I'm already imagining a mobile suit/Gundam themed after it
>>
>>23785066
>How would he handle theses themes?
Poorly
>>
>>23785066

If you look at what Tomino actually said, rather than how the article frames it, it's just what he actually wants to see in a future Gundam series, there was nothing indicating anything based on his idea was actually in production.
>>
So instead of funnels or bits or dragoons, we have mech launched Shaheds

Itano circus with fiber optic cables instead of smoke.
