I had never even heard about this manga. I guess it shows Duke meeting Kouji and getting used to Earth, which gets rushed to hell in the U tv show?

Neat, I thought that this manga wouldn't get a translation at all.
I liked Grendizer U as it's own thing well enough. Though obviously, it's not that good by itself, and honestly I would've preferred Grendizer Giga anime adaptation instead (I'm the only Giga fan that posts on /m/).

That was probably added to get people to buy the manga. It reminds me of the English release for the Nadesico manga saying "As seen Cartoon Network" when they only aired two random episodes as part of Toonami's Giant Robot Week.
