What was the first show that made you truly "get" mecha? Not necessarily the first one you ever saw, but the one that made you say "this shit kicks ass!". For me it was Super Heavyweight God Gravion.
The vernier flare right before you learn that the god damned Zaku maneuvers like a pig.
>>23790934Gaiking Fridays. What I wouldn't give.
>>23790934Flashman. I had already watched some toku with giant robots (Juspion, Changeman), but the giant robot part never really caught my attention much, but the arc of Flashman where the Flash King was destroyed and they had to struggle to get the Grand Titan to replace it really sold me on how cool and strong giant robots are. Even though looking back the Great Titan was a giant brick.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miDmZI9UEYYAfter watching this I started actively looking for giant robot anime series.

FROM THE MINDS OF MORTAL MENTHE MIGHTIEST OF MACHINES!
>>23790934I never had to suddenly GET mecha. I was always mecha. I was pulled out of my kindergarten class because I would jump up on the table and shout GIGANTOOOOOOOOOOR! In the first grade I got out against the wall for trying to Voltron some other kid with a stick blazing sword style. I wore out the rental placecs Force Five vhs tapes and they tried to charge us for the damage. I was born mecha
>>23790977I had a bit of a downtime, early it was Tranzor, Voltron, and G1I caught Robot Carnival on TNT that summer they ran Heavy Metal and a bunch of other crazy shit just before I started weebing out, then I got into Robotech/DYRL, and then I ran into a VHS of Tranzor and it was sorta like when the pilot has flashbacks realizing how long he's really known this because he was getting brain training as a fetus and shit
>>23790934Probably Mazinkaiser when I watched it way back in 2007.
>>23790976This came out in my area after Star Blazers and Battle of the Planets but it was on one of those perpetually snow blasted channels from the land of far far away so I only got an episode or two at a buddies house. By the time Star Blazers hit 1000 years ago I was already hooked on /m/ from TV airings of Mechagodzilla.

Probably Medabots. I always had to watch the show and play the games after school. I thought a ''robot pokemon'' was a great idea. Unfortunately, it never took off and i was pretty much the only one to know it.Same goes for Saban's slop like Beetleborgs, VR Troopers. It was surreal to me.
