Why can't the Federation use the existing terraforming tech to unfuck Earth? Dakar desert should be a solved problem.
>>
Do we even see terraforming happen at all in UC? Building space colonies is an entirely different science, and we've seen that the Federation's prevailing mentality of "take resources from the space colonies to sustain ourselves" pretty much ensures that there will never be a need to terraform Earth, develop any sort of terraforming technology, or repair any of the damage done over the decades and centuries.

Why can't the [present-day earth] use the existing terraforming tech to unfuck Earth? Any desert should be a solved problem.

Alternatively, consider the following
>setting has advanced nuclear power
>still insists on using chemical fuels

They made an artificial rainforest in Europe, didn't they?

That's actually a good point.

They have big-ass mirrors on space colonies and arrays like the Solar System, which if they made enough of them could be used as a primitive weather control by altering the heat and light Earth gets, so reverse the deserts back into something manageable. I assume it's never done because the money went toward whatever the corrupt Feddie politicians want this weak. And besides, Spacenoids would freak if the Feddie politicians were building yet another big mirror array, since why would they trust them that it wasn't a Solar System or colony laser or what not?

You mean like the Solar Ray Zeon built?
By that very same logic, I guess the Federation should start gearing for war if any side built another colony cylinder since they obviously can't trust the spacenoids to not try and ram it against the Earth.

Mars was terraformed to the point that it had a breathable atmosphere but was still considered such a backwater that the Federation left it alone even after Zeon built an industrial base there

which is?

so basically space australia with all the criminals

No need to be redundant, anon.

The best terraforming technology is to let nature run its course without human interference. But then I won't expect Brazilian intellectuals would know that.
