>Produced by Legendary (Pacific Rim, Godzilla)>Directed by Jim Mickle (Sweet Tooth, Stake Land)>Cast: Sydney Sweeney, Noah Centineo, Michael Mando, Shioli Kutsuna, and Gemma Chua-Tran>Rumored to adapt elements of 08th MS Team
>>23811738No.
>>23811741This movie was made for/m/ posters not actual Gundam fans. Actual fans would already know that Gundam was popularized in the west by MSG, Wing, and SEED
Sydney Sweeney better be a Zeon mommy
>>23811738>will a western adaptation of an Eastern property be good?Of course it won't. Why do think nice things can happen? Stop that.
>>23811749They chose the most barebones installment to start from because it gives woke writers an easy, open platform for their own ideas
>Rumored to adapt elements of 08th MS TeamShould've gotten Michael Bay.
>>23811738What I expect>they'll fuck it upWhat I'll get>somehow they'll fuck it up even harder, 5 minutes of MS action>Sydney Sweeney in tight bodysuitwelp
>>23811760THIS. The one time he would make a good job and they fuck it up with some no name rando.
>>23811760Is this what you are after?
>>23811744Actually provably delusional. MSG and Seed both got shifted to the dogshit time slot because they flopped. Wing, G, and the OVA's like 08th and 0083 were the most popular by a mile.
>>23811738There's practically zero chance it'll be anything more than rancid dogshit. Doing live action adaptations of anime is retarded.
How exactly do you make a live action Gundam good? What would a good Gundam movie look like?
>>23812171Robot Jox.
>>23811790The TF movies show how well he can do giant robot+military guys action.
>>23811842MSG got shifted due to 911, actually. It otherwise nearly finished the show(right around the lalah episode is when it moved).
>>23811738Are those things supposed to sell me on it? Sounds like it's gonna be slop.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtYI-0N5dYU
They just have to copy the tone and feel of the anime and it'll be good amirite?
>>23811738Idk, depends on if the writers want to respect the source material and then hoping they don't insert some cringe modern day subversive elementd like they always seem to doThen you have to hope they can deliver decent action sequencesIt's literally a rip off because they can't produce original ideas, should you even care in the first place, actors are subhuman parasites, studios are jewish brainwashing or worse leftist subversives, don't you have something better to do with your time and money???
>>23812171Honest answer? Something like Pulitzer or Plot to Assassinate Gihren is your best bet if you don't have fuck you money to make a ton of CGI battles. Just make something that's mostly grounded with people and talking with 2-3 MS sequences at MOST so people don't feel like they get scammed
>>23812171Lion's Gate 83 would at least have had Mead designs...Other than that it's probably difficult in this day and age.Just contemplating this new one:>CGI/3D robotsMight as well watch an actual Gundam anime since that's what they use these days anyway. Unlikely to have good mechanical design. Not that we'll be seeing much of them.>actorsFour nobodies and "can't act, has tits".>plotJust watch 08th MS TeamWhat a good live action Gundam from the West would look like is difficult to say. I don't think they would bother or be capable of handling large scale battles.1v1/tournament style would be more doable, but selling Plamo-Sanshiro/Build Fighters is a difficult proposition. G Gundam is similarly obtuse due to the overarching wuxia narrative. Bare minimum the unique parts get stripped out and it turns into a Rocky-esque boxing story. In a UC type of setting, the West could probably handle an small scale asymmetric conflict (bet this is why they picked 08th to lift from). Tank commander trying to prove there's still a place for tanks in a world of MS. Infantry getting mulched by a custom Zaku, lone survivor joining an anti-MS spec ops squad on a mission to take it down. Horror movie where one guy gets chased by a nightmarish Gundam. That kinda crap. Wouldn't necessarily be good, but that's what they could handle.
>>23812272This anon gets it
>>23812280If I were the director he's my fanfiction>set during the Gryps conflict after Dakar>Titans are reshuffling rapidly, trying to get all their shit to space>POV is from an Earthnoid grunt who gets sent to "clean up" the Newtype Labs>finds the kids and is horrified, tries breaking them out in a GM>insert several fight scenes here with Byarlants and Gaplants>manages to escape and let the kids fuck off in the wild before getting surroundedNow the question is, would it be better to have the guy die or get saved by blink-and-you-miss-it newtype hax
>>23812291Saved sets it up for the sequel!
>>23811738Even the actual 08th MS Team anime is mediocre so I don't see what hope this has
>>23811738>Rumored to adapt elements of 08th MS TeamNo way in hell. Bandai wants to make 0079 the face of the franchise globally and 08th isn't even that popular
Miller's Report live action with JLaw as Miller.
>>23811749not that Japanese adaptations are any betterlive action adaptations are near universally made by executives and soulless secondaries who don't give a shit about the property and are doing it purely as a cash grab off popularity
>>23812489>using the worst live action adaptation as an example Very dishonest post.
This thread is spam btw.>>>/a/287349495
>>23812556Saw it on /tv/ too. As least we've had some interesting discussion out of it.
>>23812489Yes but it's their stuff to adapt. Westerners adapting stuff inevitably make it lame and gay.
I have this vision of a boardroom drama/ political/ spy thriller type thing as a series starting in proper around UC 0040ish (Although maybe touching on earlier events like having the turn of the Universal Century terrorist attack from Unicorn as an opening scene), life of General Revil story covering the decline of the Federation and rise of Zeon and the Zabis from his perspective as a central protagonist character with it ending a bit after his escape and speech, from here you have your high budget mobile suit action movie that kinda follows the 0079 narrative with Amuro and the White Base but without the need to establish anything about the setting and broader context, so the movie itself would be the payoff of the series.
>it ends up being zeekwank
>>23813161Are westerners know for as much Zeek apologism as Japanese? Although they did make RfV so maybe...
>>23812241SEED Freedom got a western theatrical run, by anon's own logic it was never big enough to warrant one
>it's gonna suckWell why doesn't Japan do it?
