Seriously, what was the point of this crappy movie?>clearly is under budget>rushed as hell>animation isn't good at all>all the characters are either almost empty or unlikable>the design aren't good for anythingEven as a light teaser for Unicorn-Two, it fails, and it probably won't be referenced more than a sentence at best when it happens, because it was a box office bomb (unlike Unicorn).
>>23814241Why are you trying to split hairs between Unicorn and NT? They literally have the same writer for both animes. They are the same thing. You literally have a Unicorn Gundam right on the movie poster. Gundam NT ***IS*** Unicorn. There's no difference.
>>23814241A thread died for this? Really?
>>23814241I think it could mostly be saved in the edit.
>>23814241You do realize the same writer worked on both Unicorn and NT, right? Hilarious that you think they are different. The only difference is the art style.
>>23814246>>23814253...also everything a writer can make is always the same quality as everything else they've ever made.
>>23814253Mutou worked on NT? I thought it was just Unicorn and Hathaway...
>>23814308All this tells us is that you made this thread to hate on Gundam NT and praise Unicorn. But then anons pointed out the same writer wrote both stories. So you freaked out and had to run to Wikipedia to check. So now you are desperately trying to come up with some weird new argument. It's not working.
>>23814319#1 not OP (doesn't matter either way now, I'm batting for his position anyway) #2 So what if I went to wikipedia to check for sure that you're a stupid fuck? Your argument that the Unicorn and Narrative anime are the same because they had the same writer for source material is ridiculous on it's face. It's perfectly reasonable to have a different opinion of different parts of the same creator's output even if there weren't major differences in adaptation's production.Fuck man, the different formats of the Unicorn anime itself are not 'the same' as each other despite being the same story and animation.
>>23814333>Your argument that the Unicorn and Narrative anime are the same because they had the same writer for source material is ridiculous
>>23814241I enjoyed it, had plenty of action.
>>23814333What difference does it make? Both Unicorn and NT had terrible stories. What is your point? That Unicorn's writing was 0.12% better than NT's writing? Don't make us laugh anon. Both were awful. There's no dramatic difference between the two anime besides different animation teams. Both had magic Gundams shooting beam energy and creating energy barriers and using telekinesis.
>>23814333I agree that different directors can slightly alter the presentation of the anime. Tomino would direct scenes different than the guy who made Gundam Seed. But I think the story is ultimately what's the most important. I never really found the Unicorn story particularly impressive. Although Gundam NT probably should have been a multi episode OVA, and not a short movie. It would have been slightly better to develop the characters.
>>23814341NTA, but only two of OP's complaints are writing-related.
One of the details I liked about Narrative is that they brought back these in-the-cockpit cuts that you used to see all the time in Tomino shows and movies. I don't think any other UC work has done it since Victory.
>>23814441thunderbolt had them iirc.
>>23814441>One of the details I liked about Narrative is that they brought back these in-the-cockpit cuts that you used to see all the time in Tomino showsAgreed. I like them.Although some directors think it's too comicbooky and not cinematic. So they don't use them. Like Hathaway's Flash movies don't use it. The movie always uses hard cuts to the cockpit view.
>>23814241Probably a bit controversial but I think Narrative was better than Unicorn. Banagher and Mineva are very sterile and boring, the NT cast felt a lot more human and imperfect in comparison.
>>23814241Rushed to promote the Unicorn Statue at Odaiba, that's literally it. Should have just been a few OVAs or your standard 12 ep season
>>23814441The VR OVA thing, Silver Phantom, used them. They look more like floating speech bubbles of the cockpit but I appreciate the attempt to replicate the style all the same.
>>23814241I want to be a bird!
I think it was just supposed to keep the weird plot points from the end of Unicorn in people's minds and keep momentum up for the sequel, but then that plan must have fell through.
>>23814463it's used sparingly but Hathaway films do use them.
>>23814241>Seriously, what was the point of this crappy movie?Unicorn and Jesta kit sales were falling and needed a bump, plus Unicorn was extremely popular in nippon land so why not throw a bit more of that slop in the through for them.
>>23814441G Reco did it.
>>23814763>>23814777It was literally made for the statue and nothing more.
>>23814781G-Reco was directed by Tomino, the entire point of the observation was when non-Tomino directors do it.
>>23814777>Jesta kit sales were falling and needed a bumpThat's because they changed the story. In the original novel, the Jesta had a ton of action scenes along side Unicorn. Especially during the Battle of Torrington. The Jestas fight off the Neo Zeon remnants AND fight alongside Unicorn against the Shamblo mobile armor. But for whatever stupid reason, Bandai gave all of Jestas' battle scenes to the Byarlant. This suit never existed in the novel. Bandai also didn't allow the Jestas to fight the Shamblo like in the novel. I have no idea why. So what does the Jesta have left? Just shooting an old ass Zaku sniper and just floating around doing nothing. No wonder sales suck. Another major complaint is the anime decided to split up the Neo Zeon troops into smaller groups during the attack. That didn't happen in the novel. Neo Zeon attacked in one large group and overwhelmed the Federation. In the novel, Neo Zeon almost nearly won. But the anime made Neo Zeon look pathetic by having the Shamblo attack from a different direction. Why? I don't know. None of these changes Bandai did made sense. They should Just follow the novel.
>>23814241to explain why they disappeared in cca but not in unicorn
>>23814441I don't remember this being common at all. In what universe is this a Tomino staple? Can you show me an instance of it in MSG, Zeta or CCA?
>>23815627I swear to fucking god people don't even watch the shows they bitch about anymore.
>>23815627time to rewatch everything, who knows what else you missed
>>23815632>>23815633fug maybe i am retarded
>>23815634There's a lot less shame in being able to admit when you're wrong, so good going.
Destiny and a couple of other shows used them too
>>23815637it just might be a sunrise staple at this point
>>23814558>>23815637Here's one of Silver Phantom's attempts. Not terrible for the completely different medium.
>>23815641narrative did it as well
wing used it very sparingly, I'd say
>>23815646Wing was 100% intentional by the director, though. It was to save the staff.
>>23814241I honestly forgot Unicorn Gundam even existed.
>>23814771>it's used sparingly but Hathaway films do use them.Uhhh...the video you posted doesn't have it. It's just a straight cut.
>>23815632>I swear to fucking god people don't even watch the shows they bitch about anymore.I swear that idiots like you can't even read. The conversation and original context was about Unicorn Gundam not using those cuts. You were in such a rush to post screenshots that you didn't even read the post properly. Post Unicorn using them or hush up!
>>23815672>I don't remember this being common at all. In what universe is this a Tomino staple? Can you show me an instance of it in MSG, Zeta or CCA?And you're accusing me of speed-reading?
>>23815676What was he replying to? Read carefully anon.
>>23815678Nobody in that reply chain even mentioned Unicorn. Are you having a stroke?
