Let's imagine that Sentinel somehow gets freed from it's soon-to-be 40 years long copyright dispute, what would be the best format to adapt it?>Movie?>OVA? (3 to 6 episodes)>Full show? (12 to 26 episodes)
There is no dispute. The copyright is simply split among the involved parties, like many IPs in Japan.
>>23815772I’d say an ONA/OVA would work best, it’s not a long story and doing it in that format would work out best, 4 episodes at least. If it were a TV show of 12 episodes they could theoretically expand on some stuff with Neo Zeon but that could be too long imo. A movie would be a compressed adaptation. ONA/OVA is the way to go
>>23815777Then why haven't they then made an adaptation? it's a meme in Japan about how a lot of old fans have wanted it for decadesif it was this simple, it woudn't be have the weird place it has
>>23815778I think the novel is barely 200 pages, so it might actually fit well into a two hours long movie without issues.
>I did not expect the Spacenoids' ideals to be more noble than the Earthnoids'. They are, after all, human beings as well. On the contrary, though, I feel that those able to survive on solid ground have more pride. Those so-called Newtypes are, after all, Earthnoids who yearn to live in space. The roots of all of these ideologies originated from pure Earthnoids. Someone once said that Newtypes represent the will of human revolution, but I feel that the ones who truly need to change their way of thinking are those living under gravity. Spacenoids always say that the humans bound in place by gravity will never be able to evolve into Newtypes. Isn’t that a form of discrimination? Currently, I deeply feel that Spacenoids are not putting enough effort into enhancing the ideologies of humankind. However, we are the only group of people who promote human revolution and actually put in effort to enact our ideals. No matter what happens to us, I will willingly become the stepping stone for human evolution.
>>23815780>Then why haven't they then made an adaptation?Same reason they haven't made an adaption of Crossbone, Silhouette Formula, Astray, or any number of side material. They don't believe it would make enough money to justify the cost to make. The appeal is limited, despite what nerds on the internet believe.>it's a meme in Japan aboutYou don't know shit about what's going on in Japan
>>23815780Someone from all the rights holders has to both be in a position of enough influence to build the material to show the financial upside of doing so without jeopardizing own position and also actually know about the need to get the different rights holders together.
Three or four part OVA that allows them to redo several of the Zeta era HGUCs and maybe some ZZ HGUCs along with the various Sentinel units as kits over two or three years. Then they can bash the OVAs together as a movie for one last wrung of the cloth then we never ever have to think about Sentinel ever again.
>>23815780>Then why haven't they then made an adaptation?"Dispute" implies there's some legal battle going on and it might change hands. Bandai doesn't own Sentinel's story and characters and is fine just using the suits they own. They don't want to license Sentinel because anything made under that license also would be a licensed work, so they'd get less money from anything tied to it, than they'd get from any similar Gundam product.
>>23815785This is objectively the best piece of written material in Gundam.
6 episode series but dont do this Hathawy shit where you have to wait 5 years between episodes, make all the episodes at once.
>>23816419not even monkey's paw, you're going to have to wait like ~5 years for them to finish making the OVA and dump it all at oncealternatively it could be done in like 2 years if the episodes are only 30 minutes long and it gets TV anime budget
