It only existed on blueprints as a theoretical design and no part of it was actually ever built (partly because the tech didn't quite exist yet). >>23820741There was the Tallgeese, which a few people died trying to test before they decided it was overkill and Wing Zero which was designed and then the scientists decided not to build it, but otherwise yeah there were just Leo's which were mostly used to oppress the colonies and not much else for the previous 15 years or so. There was a reason Trieze was all bent out of shape about how his ideals of chivalry and war were going to waste, a handful of rich assholes basically controlled the world and Oz and the colonies lashing out almost backfired and gave them absolute and total control until the final arc stuff happened.
>>23820741>but the show implies that everyone just only used Leos to fight each other.Well sort of but like anon said, only one side even really had the Leo's as the Alliance had all the mobile suits and Romefeller basically secretly ran the Planet, with any country that was against them like the Sanc Kingdom getting taken out by the mobile suit "Special operations" squads which were all secretly loyal to Romefeller alone. The only clash between mobile suits is when Leo's were stolen by terrorists or merc supplied with them defected. MS on MS combat was rare and the Leo's were mostly used to bully people that didn't have anything that could stand up to them which is why nobody made anything better on Earth.>>23820839Well yes, but the thing is that said 5 scientists were the inventors of mobile suits in the setting to begin with. They built the Tallgeese, which was scaled down to the Leo's. Of course with 15 years and access to Colony backers budgets they'd be able to build Gundam's. The only reason nobody made them sooner was, because as mentioned The Alliance already had almost total control of the Earth sphere and all MS so there was no need to make anything better when nothing could threaten them. They already had the Tallgeese, which was comparable to the Gundam's but nobody needed it's power because the Leo's were good enough.
