Fuck man, LOOK at Chris here!Additionally, in seasons 1 and 2 you had constant FUCK YEAR moments like the adults doing super human feats for no reason beyond "adults protect children," and there were abundant callbacks and references to other mecha shows.Now halfway through season 4 and it feels like all of this is gone. The mecha and magical girl fanservice is toned down substantially. Hibiki is not training by watching kung fu movies or doing pushups - she is waiting for Elfnein to do some alchemy shit to save the day. The Maria team eats up 75% of the screentime while waiting for Elfnein to so some alchemy shit to save the day. No time for school hijinks either - it would take precious time out of Elfnein doing some alchemy shit to save the day.I don't even hate Elfnein but she and team Maria have dramatically diluted the attention pool of the show, and fucking up Hibiki's relationship with Gungnir in season 2 has had a catastrophic effect on the storytelling of later seasons.

The Homunculus keeps Dainsleif around as a complete relic and switches to plan B, which is to cause the relics that are the Chateau and Dainsleif to "Resonate" together using energy gained by breaking the Keystones that show up in AXZ which seal the Divine Gate/Leylines.Also, the Autoscorers NEED to die before the world can be destroyed because they finish the Chateau's programming or whatever but assuming you are set after GX, that shit should already be engrained in the Chateau anyway.I don't remember if GX ever brings this up or if it's xdu exclusive, but that Carol genuinely believes that after breaking down the world and analyzing it she could rebuild it is a superior version. Three steps of Alchemy and all that.
