What are your pros and cons on Zeztz's 31st episode?
Pretty obvious twist, though I'm sure by the next episodes they'll come up with some "justification" for Zero's actions. Something something it was this or something worse happens. Wouldn't be the first time Takahashi excuses an abusive dad, and quite honestly can't be as bad as his last show. Figured eventually Zero would return to Baku's side once Three got freaky in the new OP and Sieg was introduced, as he's an easily replaceable "antagonist". Though his time as that is kinda dull as just a scheming guy with no actual power or fighting skills, so he never really felt like a threat, just some corporate dickhead. Nightmares conveniently attacking him just when he does nice things is also very stupid, but far from the dumbest thing in the show so far, so whatever. However, I can't help but feel all of CODE's energy is zapped away every time Sieg enters the screen. He does not feel like he fits the current narrative of Baku vs CODE and could have been saved for later, but toys demanded him debut early, even though you could cut him and keep most of the current narrative intact. And he clearly has the inferior narrative, so quality really sinks to the bottom every time he shows up.
>>23823459This general
Gotchard's Fuga may have issues being present for his daughter, but at least he didn't try to kill her even if they reveal Zero did these as ways to make Baku stronger. Non-shitty KR dads feel more like the surprise at this point.
>>23823507Fuga is overhated. The only reason he was a bad dad was because the plot forced him to stay away from his daughter due to dumb reasons. He as a person had no ill will towards her or any of the heroes, and was genuinely trying his best. He’s a victim of plot contrivances. And considering the show wants me to sympathize with Nox, someone who tried to blow up the planet with a meteor by exploiting the dream of a child (never living that down you dick) I wouldn’t be surprised if by next episodes they backpedal on Zero’s actions.I see Zero being more like Kagami’s dad in Kabuto than anyone else.
The characters in the supporting cast are so fucking useless, they’re either in need of rescuing or just exist for moral support. At least the previous shows tried to pretend the non rider characters were useful in some form, now they just do minimal detective shit that Baku can figure out on his own.
>>23823541He’s a shit dad, but technically the Nightmares attacking Baku is not necessarily on him as he didn’t order them to do that, same way none of the Nightmare victims are responsible for the destruction their dreams cause. I don’t remember him ordering Baku’s execution either as that was Three’s thing, but he didn’t really stop it either so he’s still responsible for that. But giving him normal parents and sister is probably the best he could do at the time, and Q1 was really him spending time with his son going in fun agent adventures together. The dream indoctrination class was stupid though, and pointless if he was meant to be Zeztz anyways.
>>23823566i dunno, but i do feel the nightmares going after Baku is still his fault. after all, the nightmares were afraid of the potential of Zeztz as a deterrent, and of course they would use the man who dedicated his all to perfect the system to the point he had to ignore his son to do so.tldr: if Zero didnt dedicated himself to his work and the creation of Zeztz as much as he did and tried to be a father, then this wouldnt have happened.
>See Nem in onsie >Think it’ll be a fun episode >It’s the beginnings of suffering
The Nightmares are an extreme representation of what the victims want.Zero doesn´t really want Baku to be Zeztz, thats why he got punished every time he did something heroic.
>>23823334I always love the way Kami does flashbacks, his Build episodes come to mindAlso wow Fujimi is ripped
>>23823334>Baku has been riding his dad all along
>>23823459I felt nothing at the twist and some bits of the episode felt nauseating but otherwise I thought it was a really fun episode, the direction was top notch and I'm glad that they're acknowledging these questionsAlso while brief the segments with the crew were neat, is next episode the first time Nasuka directly talks to Odaka?
>>23823334>>23823459Solid episode, I didn't have many complaints this time around. We start off with CODE revealing they're even more despicable than initially thought, since they're planning on killing all of Baku's allies alongside him. But it makes sense they would do this since he shared confidential information with his friends.Smart move on Baku's part to use energy drinks to prevent his friends from getting assassinated in their sleep.Pretty hypocritical of The Lady to get angry at Nox for saying Sieg could use Nem as his toy when that's basically what she's been doing with her daughter herself.Honestly I'm getting kind of tired of Sieg already. I don't like how he overshadowed CODE as the big new villain, but at least he had some good fights at the start of this second half, but lately he's not been getting even that. He's not particularly fun, interesting or compelling as a character, it almost feels like he's just being used as a plot device to stall some conflicts and fasttrack some developments whenever it's convenient.Nem once again learned she was the source of the weekly Nightmares, but with a few "twists" compared to the previous time she had this reveal dropped on her. First, we had Sieg doing the same schtick he did in the previous 2-parter of accusing a hero of being a far worse person than they truly are. And second, it was Nox and not Baku who had to comfort her about the Nightmare reveal, and since Nox has autism and his tact is almost null, Nem ended up running away crying while feeling like she should have never been born.(1/2)
>>23823667I was almost gonna say the cops were finally doing something useful when they started piecing together the truth about Baku's accidents... right before they cut to Baku fully figuring out that truth on his own. Honestly it's almost comical how unnecessary they are to the team since Baku's a far better detective than them. I hope they actually get something out of Nox next week and that he doesn't just brush them off like he did last week.As soon as Baku mentioned this was Zero's dream and we didn't hear his voice coming out from Zeztz Darkness, I knew it was Zero's Nightmare. Several weeks ago I had theorized Dark Zeztz would be a Nightmare originated from Baku or even a form of Catastrophe GORE, but it makes sense for it to be Zero's Nightmare since Zeztz is clearly his biggest concern.Zero being Baku's real father (ya, more Baku suffering) was also fairly predictable, but it's a good explanation as to why he was more protective of him than the rest of CODE. They're also making it obvious that Zero's not as bad as he seems, since he basically warned Baku about the assassination instead of just silently letting it happen. This episode really made me wish the topic of Baku's parents had been brought up in the show before they made the reveal that they're deceased CODE Agents. Just a couple of scenes of Baku and Minami talking about fond childhood memories involving their parents would've made all these reveals hit harder than they did. Also, the way Nox and The Lady kept talking about Baku and the Catastrophe Nightmare inside him, I was genuinely expecting the reason for his accidents to be the result of Catastrophe GORE's power or for the accidents to have been directly orchestrated by CODE to somehow develop Zeztz. But I was surprised to find out it was actually the work of Zero's Nightmare instead, who wanted to prevent Baku from becoming Zeztz.(2/3)
>>23823670There was some nice cinematography throughout the episode as expected of Kami. Also, with the final form being right around the corner, I'm honestly concerned that Orderm might be getting phased out way too quickly, it didn't even get to finish its fight against Zeztz Darkness this week and I don't want a form with such emotional ties to it to end up only being relevant on its debut.(3/3)
>>23823671Also, I would like to note that Nem made a really odd face during her scene with Sieg.
so is zero going to have to sacrifice himself to save baku from agent bussin's attempt to execute him for real
>>23823705Most likely, if not that he will at least end up in coma
>>23823705>>23823715The next episode's preview shows him getting arrested by what looks to be CODE soldiers.
>>23823643What, never played horsey with your dad?
>>23823667Yeah, I got exactly the same feelings with Sieg as you. He's just taking minutes away from the more interesting parts of the episodes at this point.
>>23823613Good catch
>>23823601I think it’ll depend on what’s revealed next episode. If this is something where Zero had a child, and had been fighting Nightmares for so long that he knew the only way his child could live is if he became the best agent in the world, I can maybe see why he did all this as it’s either this or Baku dying. But if it’s just a “experiment” he did to strengthen himself, then yeah, he’s a dick. That being said, him acting like a weirdo the whole episode and Minami genuinely confused at the idea of Zero trying to kill Baku makes it clear his asshole persona, at least this episode, is an act to push Baku into whatever he wants.
>>23823860I think he gave Baku up as a necessary sacrifice to save the world from the Nightmares, but he really doesn't want him to die because he is his son.
>>23823613That’s part of it but I also think it’s the Nightmares trying to kill him to prevent him from fulfilling his plan, as it seems Baku is special enough that he really might end all Nightmares one day. It’s why Zero said he’s “the one and only agent” back in Q1. That said, I don’t see why they only attack him when doing nice things, as if helping people is their tracker for him, since no other Nightmare acted that way. And that this happened for decades without Zero opening all his doors or another agent dealing with this is sorta silly.
>>23823613>>23823863They explained what the deal with Zero's Nightmare is in the episode, Zero wants Zeztz/Baku to fulfill his purpose but his Nightmare wants to destroy that dream. Or alternatively, if they want to pull a twist next week, the Nightmare took on Zeztz's image and targets Baku because Zero wishes his son lived a peaceful life instead of having to risk his life as Zeztz.Nightmares are not a representation of what the victims want. A bunch of Nightmares like Crow, Poison, Disaster and Shadow are obviously not what their hosts desire, but rather what they fear. They already explained it before, Nightmares seek to destroy their hosts' dreams.
Zero definitely cares about Baku as the show is paralleling both Lady and Zero as parents who do weird and criminal shit to protect their children, even though they are both using them for their own means.
>>23823881Baku vs. Nemu for final or semifinal fight would be interesting.
surprise surprise, another fuck you dad plot, who saw that coming?
>>23823914
>>23823459Like-The direction, most of the good in the chapter comes from there and it saved the obvious twist by sheer execution. Like when Zero and Baku are in the cemetery and Zero wants to touch him but he can't or mustn't or something, it gives his character a lot of flavor. Director-kun might not be a Rider but he was the hero of this chapter.-They finally are going to make Nemu do something. Her Seven costume was cute.-Catastrom becoming the embodiment of destruction again. As it should be.-Fujimi turned from coked up annoying fag to Chad with one simple scene.-Sieg was what he should be. Instead of showing him as the big bad destroyer of worlds, the chapter made him a minor antagonist that pushes Nemu to finally be relevant and makes her part of CODE's plot. He even was less annoying than usual.-Nox's intentions are less vague now.-CODE being tired of Baku's shit is logical and entertaining.Dislike:-The Orderm fight was a bit confusing at some points.-The twist wasn't nothing ground breaking even if it was well done.
I just want ONE Rider series without a FUCK YOU EVIL DAD plot. Like holy shit.
zero should really cut his sideburns
>>23824026Zero isnt evil dumbass. You see him getting arrested in the previews?
>>23823601Can't nightmares only operate if you're asleep?Zero was probably spying on Baku, saw him taking a swim and decided to take a quick power nap so he could conjure up a great white to his position
>>23824026>>23824048fuck you incompentent dad

>>23824026Geats. He had a Mother complex.>b- b- but GiroriDoesn't count.
I am so glad we're 31 episodes in and they're still doing weird dream manipulation stuff in the fights
>>23824049LMAO zero is a bastard
I feel like this had to be intentional with him standing over Baku and the lights next to his face
>>23824408It's funny to me that eva fans refuse to acknowledge that the series ended with shinji and his dad just... talking things out.I kind of assume it's sunk cost fallacy. Spend decades making jokes about gendo hitting shinji with a belt and the series ends with them having healthy closure as shinji learns about his dad as a person and then moves on.
>>23824499>It's funny to me that eva fans refuse to acknowledge that the series ended with shinji and his dad just... talking things out.Literally nobody does this, what the fuck are you talking about?
>>23824499The part of Rebuild's ending people complain about the train scene. If that didn't exist (which doesn't even line up with Shinji's talk beforehand about how he'd just remove the Evas, not rewrite the entire world) you'd barely see complaints.
>>23824026Kiva
>>23823613>The Nightmares are an extreme representation of what the victims want.>>23823872>A bunch of Nightmares like Crow, Poison, Disaster and Shadow are obviously not what their hosts desire, but rather what they fear. It's both. Fujimi's Nightmare created a Black Case for him to solve.
>>23824789>Fujimi's Nightmare created a Black Case for him to solve. That wasn't it at all, he was frustrated because the new head of the police department told him his division was getting closed down so he felt resentment about it and the Bomb Nightmare decided to blow up its HQ as a result. Fujimi just got lucky that his Nightmare's bombings convinced the new police head that the paranormal division was worth keeping around.
so is Baku wasian
>>23825281Yes, say hi to your hafu rider
>>23824588King/Bat Fangire is Taiga's father and they fought.
God, Fujimi doing pull ups was so sexy. Goddamn why is Zeztz full of DILFs.
