The cockpit view combat is pretty much the biggest selling point on this game, like playing as a jetfighter with duel arms and missile launchers, if it wasn't for that it would just be another AC copy cat game. I was honestly looking for something more grounded, but it's excellent for what is trying to do, my only complaint would be the AI and probably performance.

Cleared the beta. It's way too jank right now. The game is too fast and the lock stuff is too bad for aiming to work on controller meaning keyboard + mouse is pretty much necessary and I hate keyboard + mouse. The aim assist is dog shit and actively makes aiming worse because it's so aggressive that it pulls your camera along shitty drones that fly past you so you miss shots on whatever you were trying to aim at in the center of the screen. There's no way of turning off fucking controller vibration. It's a mess. Really hope they fix all this before the release next year.

To me, the game actually feels very slow because of how momentum works. Once you get moving in one direction you can't easily change it, even with quick boost.

Also, every arm weapon except rifles and sniper rifles has abysmal range. Why do ARs have only 20% of the range of a regular rifle?

I maxed out boost speeds and didn't have any issues, but I was using m/kb.

I don't think you could slow the game down any more without ruining the appeal. Maybe they can tweak the controller/auto-aim setup a bit to make it more viable.

I tried playing without assist on controller, and it's playable, but at these speeds the default lockbox is too small so it's ass. I'd think maybe it was designed around mouse aiming with controller as an afterthought (despite being an AC clone), but mouse aiming just makes it piss easy.
So I guess 0 assist with lockbox size tuned as high as possible would be the way to go if nothing were to change by release.

Just.... overboost at them? Overboost is free and spamable and easy mobility. You can pretty much live in it. I do agree that shit flies around in open space too much but it's hardly an issue to catch them.

You have to build into your engine or boosters, you can really feel the difference between a mech without engine or boost tuning than one without them, spamming your overboost at certain times is pretty much the only way to make it feel faster, but you may not notice relative to your target's distance.

I maxed out boosters by the end of the demo >>23837971. The issue is not the actual speed but the fact that quick boost doesn't instantly change your momentum like it does in later AC games. You can move quickly, but you can't change directions on a dime, so it feels "slower" to me than AC games.

Not saying that's a bad thing necessarily. It makes more sense and might actually be better for balance. But it doesn't feel as snappy as 4A.

It looks like it has quick boost, but the overall movement looks much more like pre-4 AC.
