First game was fine, it's like temu AC4, endgame roguelike mode and MH boss grind is pretty cool.
Haven't played 2, the shift from giant mech to power armor turned me off, maybe I'll play it once it's super discounted.

i picked up the sequel for $5 on a keysite. It's currently in the monthly humble bundle so people are selling keys for cheap. I put around 3 hours into the game and feel like I've already had enough with it. It's an okay but but the movement and combat doesn't feel satisfying enough for the open world grind they expect from you in this type of game. It has a great ost at least.

First one is mediocre with some good ideas, second one is decent with stupid ideas they wasted time implementing while alienating the people who absolutely needed their giant robots. Story fucking sucks in both, Tsukuda needs to stop larping as a writer.
The sequel plays much better unless you have ADHD, controls may take some getting used to. But I played with a mouse and no hardlock.

Still hope they can make a third one, which would supposedly go back to giant robots maybe. From that one interview it also sounds like they wanted to offer actual choice between mecha types, but whether they meant across the series or all together in the third (fourth?) entry is unclear.

Don't know shit about these but I got the subtitled one in a humble bundle. Am I good to jump right in?

Probably worth noting that it might be a good idea not to write off TS until you get an aux booster (or build for strong enough jumps to bunnyhop around if you happen to prefer that). It's much cheaper and has actual momentum, and it's not like the other aux parts are of much interest.
They really fucked up not just sticking that into the base kit. Or not letting you equip two back weapons AGAIN.
