Mecha series and games like Votoms, Titanfall, MechWarrior, early Armored Core, and Shogo all have similar grounded feelings to their movements. They aren't necessarily realistic, but their basic movements are more believable than flying mecha that don't have physical plane/jet characteristics or have huge propulsion systems with massive thrusters.

Does helldivers count? The mech warbond just dropped and they’re pretty grounded, not super fast like gundam
>>23839297Technically no since Exo suits aren't a mechs, but they fall adjacent while in the mecha genre.
>>23839297If BGC Knight Sabers ladies don't count that shit sure don't.
Among the greatest to stride the earth.
Agrevollen's a neat one for that, barring the protagonist mech and a couple other prototypes, they're very chunky robots that only leave the ground for very short manuevers if at all. Also in the setting it seems like air power just straight up doesn't exist at all, you never see a helicopter or plane. There's also Obsolete which has cool stuff like the mechs using modified DsHKs and M2 Brownings as assault rifles. The military mechs are all really modular too.
>mechs
>>23838932I like Dead Hand legged drones
>>23838932Would something like the Loto count as realistic?>ground based>multi-crew>tracks to reduce silhouette as much as possible>missile racks instead of hands, basic manipulators that deploy >troop transport functionality
>>23839597>Obsolete>aliens give you cool tools for easy farming and labor>thirdworlders kill each other with them insteadWeird how I remember this show

>>23838932The original Gundam supplemented by Gundam Century and MSV was actually this, which was why Zeta was really unpopular with Gundam fans at the time. Mobile suits which used to be grounded, restricted only to short jumps or transport to move around quickly, suddenly flew around like Aura Battlers, hovered across the ground like Heavy Metals, reintroduced toyetic transforming gimmicks and finally culminated in the Zeta Gundam glowing red and displaying occult powers.>Kawaguchi: ”Z” was a highly anticipated series, but it was undeniable that around the midpoint, more and more people started to say, "Huh? This isn't the Gundam I want to see." After all, what we had imagined were the raw and gritty battles of the Universal Century, with heat hawks and beam sabers clashing with each other.
>>23839844and that's why for a brief moment bandai started a second run of gundam geared towards the military otaku1989 had 0080, 1990 had 0083. then there was one last push with 08th MS team in 1996, since then there hasn't been much stuff. You could maybe argue MS Igloo which came another 8 years later.
>>23838932there is only Hauer
>>23839844sounds like these retards just ignored the 0079 anime, its knight style fighting and just made up fanfics to indulge.
>>23839844What 0079 did these guys watch. While there were a few episodes that had good foot work most of it was the Gundam just sliding across the screen
>>23839844>>23840299>>23840401Or the Black Tri-Stars and their Doms...
>>23840401Everything in the 79 series look goofy as fuck, including the music. The "grounded gritty" style arrived to Gundam pretty late with the 90s OVA like 8th MS team and Stardust Memory. And even now, this kind of thing is not that common in Gundam.
>>23839297
The lack of Ma.K and Hyperweapon in this thread is disturbing
>>23841018No, you all are thinking of it in modern terms instead of how it was actually like 47 years ago. Of course it doesn't seem like much now, but back then even simple things like the robots being called "mobile suits", the Zaku's rifle ejecting spent casings and the Gundam running out of ammo made it incredibly grounded when you compared it to contemporary robot anime which had characters shouting out special attacks in a booming voice, pulling out a yo-yo and cutting a space monster in half. Yeah, 08th MS Team and 0083 are grittier, but only because they were standing on 0079's shoulders.
>>23841083Is there even a story with that franchise and was it even translated?
Gasaraki's mechs are breddy cool
>>23841602Gundam has its own kind of ham when it comes to dialogue. To replace the special attack, characters spout absolutely retarded dialogues instead which is arguably a downgrade and this hasn't stop btw. Also, newtype space magic, ghost, psychic and so on. Those 90s OVA actually hide the space magic and went all out on the depiction of millitary.
>>23838932>>23839134>>23839135Patlabor mechs do tend more towards the 'grounded' side.
The idea of grounded mechs is silly to begin with. The only place they might be even a little viable is space and at that point you are better off with a mobile armor styled fighter with limbs than an actual humanoid robot. There is no "realistic" usecase for a earth bound mecha.
>>23841935>I watched 10 seasons of dogshit gundam shows. Here is my take:
>>23839683Brigador looking feller
>>23841935Are you talking about reality again in our cartoon shows? Why do you care so much about reality just go jump off a bridge and get off this board already. Nobody gives a fuck about your square cube law and 'sense'.
