The Square-cube law is dead.
Oh interesting, wake me up in 20 years when actual progress of this is done. Also not /m/
>>23839136>square-cube law>not /m/shut the fuck up
>>23839139I was referring to the actual post about “vacuum balloons”. And besides this probably gonna take another 20 years for these things to be in some kind of commercial use and likely even longer before we start going full patlabor. Sorry about that
>>23839145we could test it with a few tons of coral, a really big plastic bag and a pump. being able to move a material like that around easily would be innovation enough to start making a huge profit and its just a snowball from there. Dead coral is already renowned for its high durability against bullets, if you could slap a fort together in a few days with a 100th of the manpower you would usually need there is a lot of motivation to refine the technology.
>>23839147even making something like that lighter by only 25% would make thing dramatically easier and because of the way this tech works the greater the surface area the more empty space there is in the object and the more buoyancy it has. The square cube law isn't just dead, it is refuted completely. Giant mechs aren't just possible, they are probably easier the bigger you make them, up to a point.
>>23839147>>23839154Interesting, perhaps the patlabor dream really is a possibility in the long run. For now it’s a work of fiction, but in 10 years who knows
>>23839128Ok what’s stopping the mech from getting droned to death?
