UC Gundam especially benefits from this because of the sheer quantity of media, much of which is untranslated or poorly-documented, but it applies to basically everything. It's the same reason the Dragon Ball mexicans over on /a/ can cite single hits in fights across a 40 year franchise. If you're genuinely interested in something and not just watching it to fit in, you'll accrue that kind of knowledge with time and develop your own opinions on it. It's the whole point of a hobby board.
