I find it aesthetically pleasing, with the simple geometric shapes and the color scheme composed mostly of muted shades of blue having a soothing effect. I also find the depicted scenery enjoyable, with the arcology marking the line separating the two great blues, the night sky and the ocean that mirrors it. I'm going to assume the lights in the sky are not stars though, even if they were meant to be.

Now, realistically speaking, if I were to pilot a NEXT as a stray mercenary, I'd probably ask myself if the pay's good enough or, if I were good enough, is it fun. I have no interest in stuff like lofty ideals, great causes or a sense of belonging to a greater whole or whatever. Especially if such stuff is political in any way, shape or form.

First, the elephant in the room... SMALLER AND LESS DENSE MAPS = BETTER PERFORMANCE!! Also I swear the post-processing is not as nauseating, but it might be the byproduct of more stable framerate. I don't notice that much difference in gameplay aspect other than rebalanced part stats. Replaying mission is not a chore anymore now that the mission list is back.
One thing I don't like is heavily tying part unlock to mission rank and subquest clear, instead of simple exp bar like V, so I can't passively unlock more parts while repeatedly attempting S rank, especially since I'm carrying over data, getting actual new parts are few and far between.

Oh wait, EN management feels less punishing now, making TE weapon not downright annoying to use, building for infinite/long overboost is way easier now.
I like them giving us world/story update after mission kinda like what Last Raven did.
Also, the OST slaps hard, so many catchy tracks here.

The energy pools are much, much bigger than in V, meaning you can pretty easily achieve infinite Glide Boost. In general the much higher amount of energy to work with means you can play a lot more aggressively as opposed to V requiring you to think ahead a bit.

TE weapons saw energy cost reductions and there's more energy to go around, which was probably necessary due to the maps getting castrated. You'll also notice that laser rifles and cannons can hold their charge for as long as you've got the energy now.
But there's a tradeoff; EN amps now send your shot costs through the atmosphere, so they're a lot less viable.

I should probably feel bad about doing all the MoA arena fights on the garage map, but I really don't. The PSX era games have a lot of of constricted map design leading to builds optimized for tunnel and city fighting, and somehow the AC AI feels like it never has to deal with subpar lock box rotation. So fuck it, if my target tracking sucks because of poor controls I'm gonna even the odds against the enemy ACs, and I refuse to be a poorfag and use Human Plus augments.

That was also in 5th gen, as a super weapon. Most of the super weapons were pretty dogshit in PVP, but it was still funny to rip off your own arm so you could hit a motherfucker with a quintuple chainsaw drill thing or a support beam turned into a jet hammer.
