0080 and 0083 were my first exposure to Gundam as a child, and the original Alex was my first MG kit (which, being a child, I butchered badly). I didn't actually learn about the original Gundam until much later, but the fact that the Alex was built as a successor to The Gundam and the fact that they look so similar still hits home in a special place now, decades later.

Not just because it's an awesome Chinese dragon with a robot mode, but its speed and agility really impressed me. And the visuals of it flying through a darkened sky and transforming against a wall of fire have been burned into my brain for the rest of my life. It's just fucking cool.
