A lot of people seem to expect Witch from Mercury will have an easier changing the story in later games when they have the full plot, but I really don't see that being a thing.

Shows like Wing had freedom to do whatever from the start even when it was incomplete. In Witch's case, the content released after the initial launch has been even more restrictive than in the base game and launch DLC, only being able to mention the main leads, not even show them on screen. And of course, we still don't have anyone using the weapon sellers' weapons.

It really feels more like someone who is in charge of Witch is just hell to deal with. Maybe they saw the whole "Destiny is better in SRW than the original!" and want to avoid that situation and are very restrictive on what SRW can do.

The only cases comparable are

Giant Robo - which IS a licensing hell to the point even a licensed game from the time couldn't show one of the antagonists (Red Mask) and not only Alpha 1(including the expanded route in Alpha DC) , but also the standalone SRW64 wasn't able to give it any kind of ending and didn't even adapt all episodes either.

Eva Rebuild - where we know the staff outright told them to not do an ending. They didn't want SRW doing an ending before the staff themselves had created an ending for the Rebuild series and several SRW games were released before that ending existed. This wouldn't be an issue for tWfM in Y which would be released way after WfM's airing time.

Make up stuff like they do for many other series. When the incomplete Wing was implemented into Shin, Zechs got moved into working under Char and having a debt for him he was paying with his loyalty, basically being integrated into that part of the plot since they obviously couldn't do much with tv Wing stuff. Even in Y, you have Combattler going with an original sequel story rather than doing the 2nd half of the season after Garuda's death, CCA/Zeta being a completely made up plot, Mazinkaiser adapts the movie for one stage and afterwards it's either the Great Mazinger manga or original, Dynazenon's "irregularity" that causes the plot is tied to Godzilla, rather than left open for Gridman Universe...

That's really my main point here.

If whoever is in charge of WfM's licensing doesn't want the SRW staff creating stuff now, why would they suddenly loosen up afterwards to allow more natural use of WfM's plot/setting in crossovers in the future? Obviously future games will be able to do the full WfM plot, but I don't think that comes alongside it being better integrated at all considering the current situation.

Have you used Altaisen in any game? It's pretty poopy. Can't hit jack right out of the box, reals stats, and has munition on its melee weapon.

Alteisen's machinegun only cost 110k to max just like m95 and that thing has 15 ammo, or you could use the horn, your choice.
Rampage ghost also has 5 shot if you maxed its energy iirc.
Once you get riese, claymore gained 2 range making it an enemy phase monster.
There's a reason kyosuke route is considered easier, R-1 just can't compete.

Despite this game lacking Rampage Ghost and Trump Card, it has a well balanced moveset for the game and Claymores bless it with a +50/50 attack that make Kyosuke a complete monster

Alteisen is not as good as it was in Compact 2 but is still a workhorse unit in Part 1. Riese is fucking insane and has a MAPW. Rampage Ghost if you get it is very powerful but even without it, Alt is still very strong.

Kyosuke route is the easy route because you get an endgame ready unit by Stage 4. Just equip a long range weapon like Boosted Rifle

Alt's weakest performance because you have to wait until when Kyosuke finally unlocks Riese. It's blessed with one of the few FUBs worth getting. Rectangular Launcher/Neo Chakram Shooter are mandatory investments. You will field all the combo attackers for the endgame.

Stronger than GBA Alt due to Counter + Revenge + ALL abuse. Revised PP costs benefit him massively.

When R-2 and Huckebein MkII/008L exist together, water terrain practically does not exist. G Wall is a worthless barrier, AB Field is actually relevant against the Balmarians who spam beams and we all know that Bunshin is good.
R-2 has a native ALL that the Huckbeins don't have and is also beneficial to Ryusei/Aya's performance since it allows them to use their finisher as well. You lose more than you gain by taking Rai out of the R-2.

The simple fact of the matter is that parking Rai in the MkII/008L has a knock on effect on several other pilots because OG1 is a game of musical chairs with several viable pilots but limited space for good units. You'd be surprised as how much adding the Armorlion made life easier in OGs.

Certainly enemies are vastly tankier than they were then. I'm playing 10 upgrades Master, I haven't especially invested into Kira other than the normal Gunfight +4 and Attacker pilot skills and I find he usually has enough power to one-shot even the beefier 15k+ HP mooks with Barrage.

Kyosuke's route is easier because it gives you Alt and Weiss almost right away as well as a bunch of other decent unique robots fairly early and the route is mostly set in space where terrain isn't much of an issue. Meanwhile you spend Ryusei's route with a ton of water maps where most of your guys are struggling and you have mostly grunts and planes until the very last few stages with Cybuster and the Grungust as the only ones that can do any decent damage. You don't get the R1 until the route is nearly over. Maier is also way easier in his battleship than Bian in his Valsion which needs to have all it's EN drained or used up to do any damage to.

And the second half of the game is easier because while everything on Ryusei's route up to that point is going to get benched, Kyosuke's you've had most of those units from the start and have been upgrading them

Range/Melee in the formula is just a multiplier, a 5 point swing can be 10%~ more damage in the early-game before considering the opponent's Defense which directly reduces it, then gets less valuable as the game goes on and you approach higher stat totals. It also depends on how you spend your PP since for damage after Attacker the most efficient thing you can do is pump a stat. +10 at 200 is 10% damage again. Practically speaking you're not going to end up with a 2x multiplier after accounting for enemy's defense though so it could be more like 20%.

IIRC OGs made Lamia's fate ambiguous at the end of OG2.5 but everyone knew that it was just a teaser for a longer game.

Kyosuke's not the main character of the A plot in OG. Neither Vindel nor Lemon make that big of a deal about him, its just Axel who makes it his mission to defeat Kyosuke (and the rest of the Steel Dragons) before they get too strong and they lose again.
Vindel is too busy plotting behind the scenes while trying to restore XN and so he wants Gilliam to use him as the core while Lemon's goal is to see how her children (Wodan/Echidna/Lamia) develop. Excellen is a curiosity on the side since they're alternate dimension versions of the same person.

I know that K's GTG has high EN costs, after all its a unit with a bunch of finisher class attacks and K makes you pay finisher class prices in response. (Face Open the Great is like the strongest non combo in terms of base power for reference)
What I'm saying is that if you do the basic combination of max en + en part + e save, you can get the thing to a sustainable level because there's no reason to use anything stronger than Giga Puncher Grind on most mooks.
L toned down EN costs in general because its harder to massage EN in that one due to the lost of skill parts and FUB bonuses. GtG can still run out of EN if the AI decides to prioritize if and Daiya starts bleeding out EN via barrier.

Continuous Action is a very funny skill because while it is a very strong ability, it can also feel like a wasted slot on a lot of units because either there isn't enough enemies on the map or they don't kill enough for it to actually make a meaningful difference. Especially considering the price.

>Terrains
S Land and Space for the units with it inherently can get a lot of mileage across the game. S Sky is fairly useful as well on most pilots with access to it, but I'd recommend skipping that on Ryoma because he gets Shin Getter way too late for it to matter.

Resolve is good on everyone but you can skip it if they have native Battle Spirit or Will + Kill.
Dash is a generically good skill on everyone but skill slot constraints in some instances might cause you to skip it. There's no reason to not teach it to everyone in Saisei though.
Spiritual Fortitude is surprisingly useful on SR pilots because Hakai loves to spam Jigenjuu at you.
If a pilot has native access to Support Attack, they its a good idea to supplement that with Assist Attack. Ryoma/Shinobu/Aoi/Kouji can be taught Support Attack if you need more hands.
B Save is good on basically anyone who cares about it but when it comes to E Save, it might not actually be all that useful on some of its recipients.
In Crowe's case, just give him a Super Repair Kit.
Attack Again is only worth it on Gainer/Cynthia/Chirico on NG. You can technically do it with Akagi but that requires insane planning.
Roger wants Blocking
If you have innate Prevail and some spare PP, consider raising it up to 7.
Ignore Size goes on S/M sized units that don't have ignore size on their finisher
Hit & Away has obvious applications.

Also, Kallen pilots a S Sized unit but you should build her like a SR. Guren is very tanky.

L and K are about the same length. K for some reason just divides lots of it's stages in two to make it seem longer than it really is. L does give alot of things that K held off until near the end of the game, -Legend Gundam, GtG, Kouteushin Jeeg, Blade Gainer and Triple Drive for example- much earlier, although if you are a Kira fan you're out of luck in L.

I don't think I've ever had a viscerally negative reaction to a show I don't like's characters being involved in a SRW. It's just a chance to see them in a context outside of the less positive instance I encountered them the first time, and see what they're like in other scenarios. That's what option parts, spirits and stuff like Tactical Command are for. Yes, Expert/Super Expert are nasty towards RRs because of accuracy scaling faster than evasion, but you can definitely make the higher end reals dodge. Or just focus on zoning enemies out so they don't have to worry about counters anyway.

Early game on Master Mode Roger is almost mandatory.
Also on the spirit commands: Roger has early Bullseye, cheap persist, accel, spirit, pierce and Soul. Al these are way too usefull at the time Roger has them available.
Maybe lategame you could argue she's as good or maybe even better than Roger at the lategame but early on Roger is this one of the best units of the game.

She unlocks the spirit at level 15, Roger has it since level 1 and that on early game is huge.
Her tankyness relies too much on energy. You also need the energy to attack. The energy parts that she needs are only available endgame. Early and midgame you would have to rely too much on resupply and reiko level 4 assist.

She's only better in defense and offense as long as she has the energy for it and she's a big expender on that regard. And in the end the difference is not that big for all the expending she demands.
Roger gets free crush per turn and negotiator drains up morale making him better for fighting bosses than her.

Complete disagree here. Bullseye at level 1 is godlike, accel helps him a lot at reaching enemies, spirit allows him to hit hard since turn 1, Pierce is godlike at mid and late game and Soul allows him to do as much damage as Hakura without spending shitloads of energy.

Roger joins up earlier which just helps the argument more.
Exp gain in master mode is tedious so for her to join at level 15 you would have to wait a while, meanwhile Roger helps you beating the early game to get to that point.

She's the best tank in the game with enough energy, yes, but requires too much investment on one unit.

Getting the ace rank is something every unit do at midgame so that's a non issue. And while you do get a Crush early it still cost you assist gauge. Roger gets it for free + negotiator reduces morale. You can use those 2 assist meter gauge on something else.

My argument with Bullseye is that he gets it as early as it get while Haruka has to wait to be level 15 in a mode were you get low exp.
Mid and Late game of course her Bullseye is better but as i stated before: I take early availabity on count on rating units.
The raw accuraccy is rarely an issue since the difference is not that relevant, both are gonna rely on bullseye as much.
Soul is still better than Valor and of course Roger will rely on that since he gets that naturally.
Everyone agrees that is better having Soul than Valor.

Boosters are not hotly contested in Y and on Terrestrial maps, he can also use the parts that adjust your weapon terrains as well. The A Adapter is a low effort part choice (same goes for JJ) because you dont have to remember to swap to Thruster Modules in space.
