Just finished watching the second entry in the Braves series, I really liked Exkaiser but Fighbird surprised me with how fun the characters develop in the second half of the show, the main cast all have their quirks and seem to build from what Exkaiser did well, the side characters are very varied and all grow alongside the main characters in very interesting ways like inspector Satsuda for example, and of course Katori is a real human bean and a real hero (wouldn't surprise me if it had many female fans at the time)The OP and ED are so cool, never skipped them because they never failed to get me hyped for some robot action.I gotta say though, the villains weren't all that threatening at first and the designs weren't too interesting, but their plans became particularly cruel and gruesome in the later half, if Tomino had directed an episode where they strap bombs to people it wouldn't have been out of place.Regarding the good robots I didn't care much for them until Guard Wing is introduced and their interactions become more interesting and frequent.
