Why do so many viewers act like Char's reasons for wanting to drop Axis on earth come out of nowhere, when there's a very obvious precedent for them? Zeon started the war with Earth by dropping an entire colony on the planet, devastating large parts of earth and incidentally forcing even more people out into space, which is exactly what Char wants to happen.

Obviously you can argue about how effective Char's plan would be in practice, but the plan itself is just as obviously something we've basically seen before. It's Operation British on a bigger scale and with slightly different aims.

Also, CCA thread I guess.
>>
Americans don't watch the shows, they read a wiki summary and some balding youtuber with prescription glasses.
>>
CCA does not make much sense if you can't fit the detail in your head that most of the humanity is already living in space, Earthnoids are minority and Feddie elites living there are corrupt pieces of shit.
>inb4 this is obvious
going by the discussions I see regarding the film, apparently not.

People don't have an issue with the technique used to achieve his goal: they have a problem with his whole plan of forcing people off of the Earth in the first place.

Which I disagree with, but I understand. In MSG he's this cocky young guy out for revenge who only towards the end, after Lalah comes into the story, seems to start thinking about the bigger picture and his father's philosophy. Then in Z he's a mature man, seriously considering the future and Newtypes and taking a stand against Earth oppression of spacenoids alongside a rebel group that wants to reform the Federation from the inside. He doesn't want to destroy the Federation, he wants it to be better, while at the same time not wanting to be a leading figure in this movement.

Then in CCA we're thrown into the middle of the story where he's the leader of Neo Zeon fighting to destroy the Earth. There's tons of shit that happens in between Z and CCA where he's vanished, but there's also a lot of stuff from which we can infer that he lostg his faith in the moderate AEUG way and eventually decided, fuck it let's just genocide all the earthnoids they'll never change. But unless you're taking part in years long discussions on /m/ and thinking about non-canon works like Moon Gundam and that PS1 Z game, that change from Z to CCA was very abrupt

OP here. To be clear, I'm not arguing that Char is right or justified or that his plan makes sense: I'm saying that viewer confusion over his motives is silly.

You are taking him at his face value. He needed a way to rally people around him, so he sold them "Let's eliminate the Earthnoid/Spacenoid divide!" but really he just wanted to be a big enough threat to provoke Amuro into a 1v1. Either he wins, proves he's better and he's still got it, or he dies and does not have to face getting old. That's all he really wanted. That sudden need for a 1v1 to the death is what catches people off guard because as they were skimming the wiki summary of Z and then skipping ZZ and everything they think that Char should be a good guy and marry Amuro since they're friends now.

it's like people only see the 'I came here to laugh at you' part and completely ignore what he says afterwards.

Not at all, I just don't see "I want to force people into space" and "I want to test myself against Amuro one last time" as mutually exclusive aims.

You are a moron.
The issue isn't that it's buyable, it's that he ended Zeta saying he didn't want to be just like Haman or Scirocco only to snap back with no explanation.
>>
>>23869512
Scirocco and Haman were using ideals as excuses to control the world. Char never had interest in conquering the world even in CCA.

>You are a moron.
I love you too, anon.

>he ended Zeta saying he didn't want to be just like Haman or Scirocco only to snap back with no explanation.
And CCA is consistent with that because Char's aims aren't theirs.

Most people didn't watch Zeta Gundam, which spells it out

Kamille's fate.
>>
>>23869536
It's also broadly consistent with his father's vision for humanity.

According to your warped image of continuity, that never happened.
