If Arakawa does indeed turn out to be the writer then I'm extremely damn happy, he's personally my favorite writer alongside Kobayashi and compared to every other Reiwa writer from both Sentai and Rider he seems far more adaptable which is a good quality to have for a Takebe show, it's basically why OOO turned out so great since Kobayashi was so good at adapting
Aside from that the Chinese Zodiac / Fables / My-Th adapting to each Rider and the main belt being able to be worn both ways sounds like a legitimately fun and creative gimmick, the action will most likely be handled by Fujita since this show seemingly started production immediately after they were done with the Agito movie and he's one of the best action directors personally, also the implication that we're getting a prolific pilot director too on top of all this

This really just feel like a best case scenario in every way, the only thing I'm not quite are the descriptions of the design, we barely know anything yet but the 3 helmets: drawings that have been shown so far don't look that interesting and the implication that they'll look futuristic makes me afraid they'll overlap with Zero-One, I'm at least glad at the implication that lemon gave the suits will actually be variate and not a Geats situation

I agree, I think a lot of people are excited about Arakawa's potential return to Kamen Rider. His tokusatsu works have all been hits so I'm not worried I'm the slightest if he's at the helm.

As for the designs, it seems like we're in for a year with unique designs and the only ones that seems to share a base suit would be the two cats which is expected. I'm definitely glad it's not going to be like Geats where they just keep repainting the helmets on a cheap black foam undersuit (I really hated those undersuits) and all the Riders will be unique. It is a bit concerning though how expensive that'll be considering we'll get a minimum of 14 Riders with alt forms, but I'm sure they're going all out for the anniversary.

It's both the producer and the writer who are equally at fault in the case in Zeztz, Yanaka didn't give a setup that fit Takahashi's style and valued plot twists and cliffhangers over proper storytelling because he's doing his shows in the same style of his dramas, but at the same time Takahashi is doing the same retarded handling of villains he had with Geats where he cares more about the ideas behind the villains rather than making them proper characters, not only that but he also failed at incorporating most of the cast properly into the setup
People try to use the whole "Yanaka wanted to have the first half not advance the plot" as an excuse but character progression and their implementation into the setup has nothing to do with that and is purely Takahashi's fault

I really hope color got the right info this time because Arakawa returning to KR after so damn long would be a huge draw for My-Th for many people. Like when it was revealed Donbrothers was being written by Inoue.

If we are talking about complaints about Zeztz though, the other thing that really pisses me off about Zeztz is the whole Lords/Knights split from Riders. There was no genuine reason to split them and the Lords are more Rider-like than any of the previous rival types. Hell, Five and Six weren't even as antagonistic to not be Riders while the Rider titles went to straight up villains like Nox and Dawn. Five and Kureha basically just get the Hiromi treatment, way more popular than the main cast and just wasted.

I feel like form changes will always be present, but they don't have to all be in Q1. They could be like Faiz/Blade/Hibiki style upgrades where the only form changes are just upgrades with each quarter instead of having 10 side forms that will only get used like twice.

Zeztz especially has a really bad problem with it where Steam, Recovery, and Wonder as forms are hardly used more than twice if lucky with the attachment forms getting used more. Then fucking Orderem. Even Gavv only used Fuwamallow like 4 times total and two of those times were part of form spamming. At least My-Th will have a good reason to have multiple forms as he seems to be countering the zodiac Riders, but they're not all getting screentime or even worse not even made.

The crazy part is it took 37 episodes for the secondary Rider to mutually agree to finally work with the main Rider while the dangerous tertiary Rider is just practically begging to help and they do nothing with him when facing powerful opponents.

It's even a meme in Japan how the initial summer movie description mentioned a "miraculous team up between Zeztz and Nox" as if that was the biggest highlight.

Don't even get me started on how they wasted the concept of Zeztz Darkness on just being a MotW. Not even referred to as a Rider, just a Nightmare. I don't necessarily hate the show but I'm definitely ready to move on.

I doubt he would be able to do anything different compared to previous writers and shows. The amount of new toys and forms Bandai has been pushing a lot these days have effectively pushed the writer into a corner, given no breathing room to flesh out and properly utilize the belt's form change gimmick in the story and has to quickly introduce the new upgrades in accordance to the toyline scehdule. I think the toyline's breakneck speed at introducing new toys and upgraded forms is part of the reason why Zeztz's Orderm form is so disappointingly underutilized. Takahashi probably couldn't write around it much because Catastrom is already useful in almost all situations and by the time we got Orderm it is thrown aside for Exdream. I think just like every other Kamen Rider shows we've had, all the Q1 form changes will serve its purpose to advertise the belt's gimmkck and then immediately thrown away and forgotten once the upgraded forms come in. If they really want any of the form changes to stay relevant, the toyline model would have to be reworked from scratch and Bandai definitely doesn't want that.

Apparently, according to his specs, those gems on the gold accessories are actually the Six Elements, the same six elemental stones as the ones attached to the Decadriver. Unlike Decade, Legend has to have the Six Elements directly attached to the forms in order to keep them stable.

Why does X look so weirdly cheap compared to other Showa Riders? Something about him looks like his suit's constantly on the verge of falling apart.

Gavv had 5 q1 forms, which is just one more than the "standard" 4.

Revice in comparison had -10- q1 forms, in addition to several other Riders.

Zero-One had 6 q1 forms, and also had 4 other Riders in q1 and two of those Riders had form changes of their own.

Now, I'm not saying throw away forms is good for the show's quality, but I think it's pretty clear sales suffer when you don't have either tons of Riders or tons of forms in q1.

Really, only Fourze somehow managed to keep few q1 forms (only 3 in the tv show + Rocket Stats in Megamax) with no other q1 Riders at all, and yet have really high sales (maybe because the Switches being limb attachments rather than just cg powers were more appealing to kids?).

I'm not sure about the tons of alt forms thing, but I think it comes down to the playability and appeal of the gimmicks. Like the Chemy Cards were super popular because they were collectable cards and had great designs so you could kinda enjoy them outside of the transformation item aspect. Same with Gochizos, they're just really cute and aesthetic little snack critters. You can display them and even carry them around on a key chain.

Zeztz in comparison is kinda plain and not really appealing. The Capsems and the spinning gimmick are a neat concept, but they're just big ol plastic balls. They have cool designs on them that move when you spin it, but those designs aren't really eye catching nor focused on a lot of the time aside from a brief snippet in the show. In fact it's pretty small so you can't exactly see it all the time in show. They're also not narratively attached to anything like Chemys or Gochizos so it kinda makes you question why they're even there. Toy wise, they're also a little clunky and Shinkenger did the zoetrope thing a lot smoother too. So along with that and being attached to how plain Zeztz forms are where it's just four color changes and then attachment forms, they seem incredibly boring.

I think the better idea would've been to make less of the Capsems (limit it to the main 5 forms for Zeztz in Q1) and not make them so cheap by adding sounds like with the Sound Capsem series. I think a spinning Capsem with sounds would be a lot more appealing. While I don't think dragging out the monster buddies gimmick three years in a row would've been a good idea, I think Zeztz and the Capsems would've been much more appealing if the Nightmares in the Capsems made noises of their own and has their own personalities.

The thing about Decade and Gokaiger is that it's really, REALLY fucking easy to give them all the forms in the world, since their forms are all just suits that they already had on hand. Zi-O, on the other hand, didn't go that route, and as a result, he's the most limited of the anniversary heroes. He has the powers of "all Riders" on paper, but in reality, he'll always be limited to what the budget allows. Nine Heisei Ride Armors, and a final form that only has plaques for the nineteen preceding Heisei Riders, meaning he'll never be shown using Showa or Reiwa forms.

They did make Ridewatches for Reiwa Riders, but Zi-O will probably never use them, aside from that one instance with Saber and the Decade Armor. Though I've since heard that they've cannibalized that Decade Armor suit, so I guess that's out for good too.

They probably could have done more forms if the basic forms had been less fancy too. Keep the generic silver armor used for the Armors that were design-only, but replacing the shoulders with generic ones, change the chest texture and a "face" texture for each form (rather than actually differently molded face/chest) alongside upper thigh color.

In a way, you could also say it's also the worst. This form is practically worthless in terms of fight scenes. But I guess it's fine; compared to Decade, Legend is much more into the whole "legend" gimmick. Decade usually preferred to fight in his own forms, but Legend is almost useless without his Chemyrides since he has far fewer unique abilities. He was never meant to throw a punch in the first place.

The thing about Decade is that he wasn't just an "anniversary Rider". He was also the "main Rider" of his own show. That meant that he couldn't spend the majority of his fights in a suit that didn't even debut in his show. that's why Decade had to be just as strong as, if not stronger than, the "legends" he transformed into. Legend doesn't have that same restriction. He's a pure "anniversary Rider" who doesn't have his own show.
