There's honestly a lot of individual characters I can remember fondly throughout the series (Serizawa, the shitheel advertising exec in King Kong vs., Akane from Against Mechagodzilla, the ex-IJA guy from vs. Ghidorah, Don Frye among others) they're usually surrounded by characters I can't remember much about.

Some might say that it removes America's culpability in creating Godzilla, cause it was the French nuclear tests that did it in 98, however I think it adds an international component that is missing in a lot of Godzilla films.
