It was a pretty meh episode.

They already did a plotline where the heroes had to prevent Nox from sacrificing himself in his attempt to stop a villain during Midnight Shadow's debut, so why are they doing this thing again? And the scenes where they talk about how much they care about him didn't land for me because they've barely bothered to develop his relationships with them throughout the whole show.

Oh yeah, Baku finally managed to get the other side characters restored. On the bright side, it seems like the cops are finally going to do something useful, although I wonder why they didn't just use the Zeztz Room + Zeroider or Exdream to go directly into Nox's dream. At least Fujimi's comedy bits were once again mildly amusing.

The scene where Minami gets glad when she realizes Baku finally rescued Nem was cute. They also once again teased the negative side effects of Baku's use of Exdream, although they're still waiting to pull the band-aid off.

I'm kinda glad we got to see a few of the older side forms again, but the scene came across as Baku using weak forms just because he felt like like it instead of having a proper justification like him losing his upgrades first or something, and the forms didn't even put up much of a fight against Oblivion so I can't even call this moment "hype". Also, I would've liked to have seen him use more side forms, it irks me that he didn't use any of the purple ones.

Oblivion spelled the reason for his existente although it was pretty obvious by now.

While I kinda like that Nem got to acknowledge her part in this whole incident a bit more directly this time around, I'm not happy that she went through even more character regression with her attempt to off herself and I'm disappointed that they also cockblocked her big attempt to confront Oblivion and do something. Those were the two things I didn't want them to do with her character, and they did both.

Oh, and Sieg's annoying ass is back, yay... Seriously though, I wonder if Nem restored him off-screen or if he got un-erased because of his seemingly unique bullshit ability to come back as long as someone (anyone) remembers him. Well, at least he did something useful here instead of sitting around acting like a doomer.

The final arc has been pretty low-key so far, but the drama and character writing aren't strong enough to make a subtler endgame like this one work, so it's just been kinda boring.

Oh, and I don't like how we didn't see The Lady at all this week after the big fight against her last episode. Putting her conflict on hold and not resuming it until next week makes its pacing feel weird.

what happened to the big wsg threads, they were so good
>>
>>23976356
Really liked the buildup to the fight, the reunion, and the small details of Baku losing himself to the dream. The fight though I did not care at all for him using his old forms only. Writers did not create a plausible scenario where he's forced to use them so I was just left wondering why he's not simply going Orderm/Catastrom/Exdream. Mediocre fight so I hope the trio team up next week makes for a way better one.

A decent episode, but the ending fight kind of ruined things as the first half of a penultimate battle episode.

As was pointed out during the stream, it's really strange that Baku gave Nox his own bed while Nem was relegated to the Zeztz Room couch. Maybe it had more to do with the difference in weight and proximity, maybe Nem chose the couch on her own, but still.

Finally restoring Nem's memories of the detectives made for much needed levity. Really enjoyed Nasuka kicking Fujimi awake and being apologetic after being asked to do so. Also getting to do some detective work to track down Nox. Minami getting to meet Nem in the real world was fun too.

As for the fight against Oblivion... Yeesh. Even with the recap in the conversation between Minami and Nem, there's really no good reason for Baku NOT to go straight to Exdream, when it's been episodes since the side effects began and he's never shown any reticence to use it before. Not even a vague statement that he'll beat Oblivion without it. Although I suppose you could take his statement before the fight as one, it really didn't come off that way. As nice as it was to see the basic forms (minus Wonder, for some reason) used so strategically, there's no good reason to use anything below at least Catastrom/Orderm. Giving Nem a big heroic sacrifice moment just to have her pimp slapped away as also pretty contrived, especially after having Oblivion go out of his way to explain his connection to her.
Sieg coming in with the save was interesting though, and I'm waiting to see if it really was because Oblivion's taunting awakened her memories of what Sieg put her through. Although we all know it was really because Oblivion used the phrase "beaten up"/"Boroboro da")

Going to be interesting to see the 3 main Riders finally team up. Despite the odd setup, at least the actual act should be satisfying.
>>
>>23976580
>at least the actual act should be satisfying
Will it? Sieg and Nox have barely interacted with each other and it's not like Baku's relationship with either of them is much better.

It's dragging things out to save the good parts for the last few eps so not much interesting except Oblivion coming from Nem's guilt at being a born a freak. It's an odd move to push the final boss battle ahead like this without a proper final opponent since mommy nightmare is more a puzzle boss than anything. I'm really holding out for a super surreal final two eps by Kami to make up for that.
>>
Did Baku really just use his weak base forms just for a throwback when facing the strongest opponent he's ever faced? What the fuck did he think would happen? I almost thought he had a plan to use his weaker forms to weaken Oblivion until he can pull up. He really almost risked the end of the world to shill Q1 toys.

It was somehow even worse than Gai. He has more kills under his belt than Asakura from Ryuki, and the show just wants you to forget all about that.

Yea people deserve to live until they become too evil!
Sieg was not evil.
>>
>>23976802
>mass murderers are not evil if they only "kill" bad people
That still doesn't track as Sieg was also an evil asshole who almost killed Baku, threatened to kill Nem and her fans, willingly locked himself with a Nightmare and wished for the whole world to be erased, including himself. And if he deserved redemption after that, surely many of those he "killed" did. As if he was the only criminal forced into this life by evil parents and society turning its back on him.

For this part at least, they did say he was just putting on an appearance and trying to get himself punished/killed during his actual redemption episode (although he denied it, but whatever).
>>
>>23976822
Demons was so good they actively had to cribble the character
>>
>>23976559
He's just fun, brings a lot of energy to things and has a kickass form. The fact that his backstory is basically pulling a death note when he got superpowers is pretty unique for Rider IMO, and I like the role he fills in the group dynamic post-defeat of "defeated villain who isn't really that remorseful but is now technically on the side of the good guys"

He just wants to have a good time, and honestly I'm there for it. I do love Garren though, I might be biased.
>>
>>23976802

If Sieg wasn't evil then nobody's evil.
>>
>>23976822
Demons wasn't the Tertiary.
>>
>>23976792
>It was somehow even worse than Gai
You're joking right? With Sieg the people he specifically killed were evil and the show at least explains why he's insane in a way that makes sense even if goofy. When he tried to kill a bunch of actual innocent people he failed.
Now Gai instead made Ark and directly resulted on Daybreak town getting destroyed. Throughout the show he constantly cheats in a way that makes the rest of the cast feel dumber, his backstory doesn't really warrant all the evil stuff he did and in the episode just before his response we're that Gai is even more evil that we initially thought and had committed way more crimes.
Even with the V-Cinema retconing some of his crimes there's really hardly any justification for Gai's actions and the only punishment he receives is humiliation, with Sieg he's at least trapped permanently in the dream world. Sieg isn't a top-tier character obviously this show has lots of flows but compared to the other Takahashi redemptions he makes more sense than Gai, Nox and Buffa at least.
>>
>>23976791
Three isn't dead he's trapped in the dream world and so far they don't really have a way to mass revive people
>>
>>23976825
Not really, the last recap episode revealed that his end goal was to torment Nem in order to trigger Oblivion's birth and get himself erased/punished for good, and probably everyone else in the world too since they also stated that he came to hate the sins of everyone else and thought nobody was exempt from punishment. Even if he only really cared about getting himself erased, he was still doing so at the cost of everyone else in the world. And Baku would've legit died in Exdream's debut episode (he was only saved by his own unexpected and highly convenient pre-mortem dream), he was useless to Sieg by that point because he had lost his ability to transform and put up a fight, which is why he was deeply disappointed when he saw that his belt got wrecked after the fight with Zeztz Darkness.

Him wanting to get himself punished/killed doesn't really justify hurting and killing others to achieve that end. He almost tricked and forced Baku into killing Minami just to get Baku even more mad at him.
>>
>>23977224
He's as dead as Zero, Five and Kureha. He's not coming back outside of special circumstances.
>>
>>23977210
>with Sieg he's at least trapped permanently in the dream world
He's been living inside dreams ever since he fused with Punish, we've never seen him in the real world outside of flashbacks. After Baku "killed" him, he can now "only" manifest if someone remembers him and he can also disappear if the people who summoned him think about it hard enough, so his freedom has been somewhat limited but he can still pop up to fuck around anywhere he wants in the dream world as long as someone thinks of him, even if it's just inadvertently.
>>
>>23976559
Fuck that is him, tf
>>
>>23977309
Dude's got range, Libra, Grodie and Sieg all feel really different despite being villains
>>
>>23977210
The Daybreak Town incident only has 1 confirmed human victim iirc. And just like Gai unleashed the Ark into the world, so did Sieg with Oblivion.
>>
You can't justify Sieg's (nor Nox's) act of "just" killing criminals because it goes directly against one of his show's moral messages, his very own redemption hinges on the idea that even the worst criminals deserve (multiple) second chances instead of death and that we should hate the sin instead of the sinner.
>>
>>23976852
>I like the role he fills in the group dynamic post-defeat of "defeated villain who isn't really that remorseful but is now technically on the side of the good guys"
I hate that kind of dynamic because it usually hinges on most of or even all the heroes not having the backbone to simply not forgive the villain because no one is owed forgiveness, especially not murderous psychos who constantly tormented and tried to murder them for terrible reasons and who don't feel all that sorry about their deeds even after being "redeemed". The characters don't have to treat every single one of their allies like some kind of buddy, especially if there was bad blood between them, alliances can be made purely out of necessity and nothing else but Takahashi doesn't seem to understand that.
>>
>>23976424
>I wonder why they didn't just use the Zeztz Room + Zeroider or Exdream to go directly into Nox's dream.

That's... Actually a good point. I assumed Oblivion was the bigger priority and Baku would rather fight him and hope Nox could be rescued in time and help out, but it could have been elaborated on.

>>23976591
I meant the fight itself should be satisfying seeing all their clashing personalities and fighting styles together.

>>23976791
It's not like the ideas are mutually exclusive. Everyone deserves to live and chances at redemption, but things don't always work out favorably. Doesn't make it any less of a tragedy when things don't pan out.
>>
>>23977699
Absolutely nobody treats Three's death as a tragedy.

>>
>>23976559
I just like purple antagonistic Riders.
>>
Zeztz' issue is trying to be "comedic" in a serious setting. It doesn't find the right time to be funny or make jokes (maybe that's what the paranormal duo are for even then they're not *that* funny)

Sieg is one part funny purple man and other part mentally deranged Freddy Krueger. People try to "justify" what he does because he's "the third rider" when in all honesty none of the supporting riders are helping Baku in any way and have their own agenda that is in no way noble or "for the betterment of humanity".

And I just got reminded Nox used to be all about eradicating nightmares until his character became about "the darkness within code" or some shite.

Stopped trying to make sense of this show ever since 3 was defeated because plot and character writing doesn't seem to exist- or maybe it does but its in a dream
>>
>>23978156
>Zeztz' issue is trying to be "comedic" in a serious setting
I don't think that's an issue at all, just paced weird
I mean Build had ton of comedic moments despite taking place in a war

The issue with Zeztz is everything else you said, they really went the worst way about it when it comes how to handle "solo hero + bunch of asshole henshin heroes", the idea can work in theory but the conflicts to force this outcome in Zeztz are nonsensical

There's something to be said about Fujimi and Nasuka being inspired to find Phantom's location in real life as a black case, and then waking themselves up. I wish there were more moments like that where they do actual detective shit and prowling around in the rest of the series instead of the meandering they normally do. I suspect they'll be the reason Nox wakes up again, which is good.

There was no reason for Baku to use the slide forms at all. Other than showcasing them one more time before they all get ERASED, he nerfed himself and made the fight agonizing to watch. Plasma I could understand, but he didn't even touch that. It's a dumb way to create a power gap that shouldn't even exist. Now really, there's no believable scenario where he uses Exdream for every single gore nightmare off rip including Oblivion the first time around, and then doesn't.

There's some good this episode. Minami gawking at Nem in real life and seeing Baku's heroines interact, the humor from Fujimi and Nasuka, acknowledging Baku's concerning development. Pretty much all the character moments were good. But goddamn it, the second the fight starts they're asking too much for suspension of disbelief. Sieg coming out of nowhere at the end is a welcome surprise, but insanely contrived. I'm looking forward to all three riders finally teaming up.
