In a way, it's a greatly extended version of chapter 7 with a new final boss, but it's done in a good way where there's enough content none of it feels like filler and you're constantly getting new units or attacks as you advance through the story.

There are more front missions unlocked in the future so you can use those to train, but it's slow as fuck since exp gain is gutted in those stages. It can be just one level (which will mean one extra attack per turn when another unit attacks side by side with the one with the support attack skill and the one with the skill hasn't moved yet).
