Would you say the Jovian designs from crossbone are an evolution of Cosmo Babylonia's design lineage, or a different thing entirely? If the latter, does that mean the entire design family died out after F91?
>>24017614Okawara looked Chad
>>24017977There's definitely some degree of connection, even if Jovians were mostly content just making their own stuff there were certainly data transfers as part of backroom deals and such. Some of CV stuff could have ended up contributing to Zanscare engineering as well but there's basically no info on that. And either way it was certainly absorbed by the Federation, there were already tech exchanges before the Cosmo Babylonia Founding War. Vigna Zirah's VSBRs weren't an independet invention, suffice to say. And one can argue Den'an Dei was Federation's first mass production model equipped with a beam shield, even if they were only provided with a limited number of these unitsAnd after the war CV tech was incorporated into projects like the Crossbones too, the binders are derived from Vigna Ghina. Not to mention all sorts of third party, independent, private and civilian projects that would inevitably crop up in the following decades as after ever since the UC 0120s Federation's grip on the colonies was rapidly weakening and many were functionally independent states. No doubt various companies, wannabe nations and private militaries would have used CV machines and data if they were available. And it's not like their stuff just evaporated when the Ronahs got their asses kicked. We know Federation still used Berga Balus models as aggressor units in UC 140s for example.
I have two sides>A.) I do not care for miniaturized mobile suits>B.) The F91 is the most beautiful Gundam
>>24018032This whole run of Victory and F91 variations in this style was Okawara at his peak imo
>>24018032>Den'an DeiNever heard of it, can't even find it on the wiki. >Data transfersOff the to of my head there's Cornix that obviously has shelf nozzles, but that's about it. Maybe the tech also bled into other designs in less obvious ways but I can't really think of any. And then the Dictus doesn't have any so it's unclear if they were any good for the design in the first place. Actually, why doesn't the Dictus have funnels? Feels like a step back. But funnels as a whole are mostly absent in Crossbone/Late UC despite the increasing number of newtypes, wonder what the deal is with that. Maybe beam shield proliferation made them not worth it? Maybe they can't deal with miniaturized MS?
>>24018098>Never heard of it, not even the wikiThe wiki is infamously far behind for whatever reason and last updated the weekly mobile machines with the Rook. Someone has to go down there and update that ASAP, it’s been over a year already lol
The F90 is a thing of beauty. I'm hoping more of it will show up in Eternal down the line, even though a lot of it got shoved into the F91 dev tree.
>>24018098>Never heard of it, can't even find it on the wiki. The CV suit Stein uses in Cluster, mostly famous for eviscerating Oldsmobiles>Actually, why doesn't the Dictus have funnels? At the end of the day funnels aren't a be-all, end-all solution, they're just a specialized weapon option primarily used as a secondary, specialized tool. That said I think Dictus did have them no?
>>24018109I don't doubt we will. They threw in all the F90 and Formula Report stuff already but seem to go out of their way to not add any Silhouette Formula stuff, that's definitely getting a dedicated event.I can totally see one for the F90 story as well. Yes, we have so many suits and pilots from it but notably only a handful of F90 forms and loadouts, we could easily get a big batch of them for that plus some associated pilots. This then leaves the door open for a Fastest Formula event where the dev tree is not bloated with just F90s
>>24018098>>24018425The Dictus and the Impulse Cornix indeed have funnels, but I'm not sure is the Dictus are regular funnels, or feather funnels like the Divinidad or the Cornix. In SD Gundam G Generation Overworld they are regular funnels.
>>24018490completely forgot about these. Man, dictus is such a weird MS, I flip flop between loving it and hating it
>>24018490fairly sure they are feather funnels, games can sometimes have errors or misunderstandings
>>24018495Cooler than Epyon? You be the judge
>>24018498yeah actually
I've never met anyone who is an actual fan of Ghost Gundam. Does anyone out there like the design or thanks the gimmick is cool?
>>24018529there are tens of thousands of us dawg
>>24018529Yeah it's cool as shit, all Phantoms are. Not a fan of the "airplane" mode but that barely comes into play anyways. It's definitely far cooler than any of the Victories
>>24018529I like the Ghost Gundam, but my favorite is the Phantom V2.I like the propeler shield.
>>24018529never met a virtuous soul that doesn't like it and never will, hating the Ghost is a moral failing
>>24018556Just Saiyan. I asked about it here and there only to get crickets.Pic somewhat related
>>24018495>games can sometimes have errors or misunderstandingsYeah, it happens, I read somewhere one of the Sentinel units in Eternal where the animation for its beam saber is pulling the saber from a part of the mech that's supposed to be sensors or something like that.
>>24018616Many such cases, there's some fuckery with the AoZ units too
Gundam Almarya is the secret missing link that sets up for Gaia Gear and beyond after the Victory/Crossbone Dust Warring Space States period. The Federation starts producing new mobile suits again in the late UC 170s, most notably the "Newman" machine, piloted by a bio brain and controlled by a large warship with a Gundam head. Some unknown Zeon like faction (called "Principality" in the manga, in reality part of the Zi Zeon/Z Organization from Gaia Gear) oppose them and steal one of the units. Disabling the Federation warship. Despite this, the tech goes on to become the basis for the Gaia Gear alpha, gets copied by Metatron, and used by Man Hunter both, and becomes the "Man Machine" project, as part of a way to revive lost high production suits from the ground up. Both factions later fight with these "high tech" man machines until that war ends by UC 0203.Meanwhile, another branch of the Federation works on reviving the RGM line, culminating in the less impressive but sustainable RGM-196 Freedom, their last major mass production MS, with John Saviour of the eventual G-Saviour development team being part of this process while he was young. Decades later, he would help design CONSENT machines, then defect to create the Saviour units. All of this happens because the MS industry collapsed almost entirely during the UC 160s when SNRI fell apart after the Zanscare war and the colonies were at constant proxy wars with one another. Crossbone Dust indicates very few parties could maintain beam tech without regular parts from Anaheim (who struggled to stay afloat) or more stable industry output. All the weird inconsistencies in MS tech from the late UC 170s onwards are part of the attempt to rebuild after this collapse. It seemingly fails again within the next 100 years after G-Saviour if the lore of Gundam Oblivion G is to be believed.Yes, call me an idiot fanfic writer all you like, but this is my take on how all the weird post victory UC timeline can tie together.
>>24018670I think some stuff like G-Saviour should stay as an AU
>>24018675You're free to think that... but contrary to what many expect, G-Saviour is not considered an AU in Japan, it's just rarely mentioned due to it underperforming expectations. Gaia Gear (most notably the audio dramas) are the only thing that's ever been stated to be "alternate UC", though that may not even apply to the novels. Most Japanese timeline lists and resources still consider the novels to be part of the main timeline, it would seem due to this. The definitive version of the story that happens... somehow, despite clashing with G-Saviour, which also happens... somehow.Of course keep in mind the concept of "canon" in Gundam is entirely fluid. Sunrise almost never officially clarifies how entries connect, just which timeline "continuity family" they belong in. Tomino's novels cannot in any way connect with one another and are very different from the shows, but still have lore that the shows later reference. Contradictions are expected and generally ignored as problems. Animation being the only "canon" is also not really treated as a hard fact anymore, as sunrise is directly helping shape the lore of many Gundam ACE entries too these days, particularly the late UC ones.Been doing a deep dive on Japanese wikis/resources for this content for a few years now. There's a lot of small details the western fandom has no idea about.https://dic.pixiv.net/a/%E3%82%A8%E3%82%A6%E3%83%AD%E3%83%8F%E3%82%A4%E3%83%A0%E7%B4%9A%E7%AA%81%E6%92%83%E8%A6%81%E5%A1%9E%E3%82%AC%E3%83%B3%E3%83%80%E3%83%A0
>>24018670>beyond after the Victory/Crossbone Dust Warring Space States periodThank you for specifying that it's after Dust, or I might've thought that you meant the F91 to Victory part of the Warring Space States period.>>24018675Eh, there's literally nothing that prevents G-Saviour from being a part of the mainline UC and it got some sick MS designs. I'd allow that. But there is some stuff that is better stay as an alternative or a "parody" work indeed.
>>24018702Dust is the one that turns the warring space period into all out conflict that makes tech decline, so you need its lore to make sense out of why 3rd century UC tech is so wildly inconsistent. It's actually a surprisingly good explanation, and may or may not be something Hasegawa planned on purpose.Of course, Sunrise also explicitly told him not to make any suits more advance than the Victory era ones, which he has stuck too for years now, so that seems to be their mandate on the era.And franchise producer Ogata did once say the Next UC 100 project could someday reach Gaia Gear, though he wasn't sure if that would ever really happen. But that means he's at least aware of it and considered the idea.Almarya is just that really weird obscure entry in the back of Double Fake that almost no one remembers. It borders on parody and has some super weird ideas, but Crossbone Dust is already so weird that it kind of just fits in now. And remember, it's said to be set in UC 0179, or about 7 years after the current Crossbone Seerauber arc.Mobile Monthly (from F90FF and Cluster) is already doing insanely deep lore cuts as a UC 140s in-universe magazine, so I figured why can't I headcanon something equally crazy?
it's me, Liz, from fatewhen does the "Late UC" era begin and what is the series timeline of it?
>>24018711hello Liz, big fan! There's no absolutely unanimously agreed upon date but it's typically considered to either start with Hathaway or after Hathaway and then it's just all the works set after it, so as far as animated stuff goes it's F91 and Victory
>>24018711Late UC typically starts around the time mobile suits were miniaturized after Hathaway's Flash, which is the last entry with any major characters tied to the original series. So something like UC 110 and beyond, around the time the Formula project and the F89/F90 are developed and put into production.
>>24018709Military tech decline had begun before even Victory and Zanscare War was the only thing that briefly invigorated the tech production. And calling Dust's Earth Sphere anarchy an all out conflict is a misnomer.
>>24018731A misnomer, perhaps... but regardless, that anarchy was one of the most violent periods outside of the One Year War itself. Victory already showed Zanscare engaging in regular warfare between the factions of both Side 1 and 2, including independent small "states" like Macedonia as seen in episode 28 (completely with their low tech revamped Hardyguns as a defense cheap force... an idea that would be repeated again in G-Saviour when Gaia uses outdated junk Freedoms for their defense). The story repeatedly emphasizes how grim things are in this period. The ending has a huge migrant colony filled with millions of refugees immigrating back to earth as the final arc. The beheading king goes on regular murder sprees and revels in it. Criminal factions start violence everywhere. Zanscare and Cosmo Babylon still exist as independent space nations, despite themselves being in decline. The Federation basically uses a Titans like mercenary force with decaying modified Jamesguns and revamped psycho Gundam like weapons to try and enforce some semblance of order. Every tech entry makes it clear that new mobile suits with even the best offensive capabilities can barely keep up with the tech level of Zoloats, let alone the high end units like the V2 itself.Again, I like the idea, as it's an extension of what Victory already establishes and the conditions that would allow a state like Zanscare to exist in the first place. If you ignore every entry after the Crossbone series, it only seems to get worse... but that doesn't necessarily contradict Gaia Gear or G-Saviour either... as destabilizing anarchy doesn't have to last forever, and there can be periods of decline and authoritarian attempts to contain and counter that decline. In that context, both Man Hunter's rise and CONSENT's attempt to recapture control make some level of sense, even if their attempts to reestablish order were doomed to fail. Gaia Gear shows the surviving colonies as overcrowded and impoverished.
>>24018670Oblivion shows another key trait of late UC suits which is them having less and less organic body shapes due to the loss of Anaheim frame tech
Is Dust translated?
>>24018802like a third of it I think?
>>24018802Up until the first chapter of volume 7 on mangadex, but we don't know who the scanlator was. Zeonic was working on it, but stopped some time back to work other projects. The last chapter by the non-zeonic scanlator was uploaded only a few weeks back, but they've slowed down a lot lately. We'll see when/if more comes any time soon. Raws are widely available now, though remember we have 3 additional crossbone manga released after Dust as well, with one (Seerauber) still ongoing, now set in UC 0172.
>>24019389>Three Really? I thought Seerauber came right after Dust, what are the other two?
>>24019402X-11 and Love & Piece
>>24019647Fairly certain those are TL'd
>>24019729I didn't find them on my usual sites. If you have links I'd love it
I hate the F90W, not everything need to be derived from the F90. Let someone else have credit of creating a new technology. It was great when the first minovsky drive was from the Mother Vanguard.
>>24019928joyless stinky no good bad take by a bad anon that should feel badIt's still vastly below the later applications of the technology, it only makes sense the idea didn't just suddenly appear pretty much fully functional on the Mother Vanguard. Especially when Victory setting materials note the tech originates from combining the theories behind VSBR and Minovsky Flight, what's a better opportunity to have the first prototype of it than a dedicated testing machine in the same series that tested those things?
Find me a more aesthetically pleasing gundam.
>>24019936My problem is that it implies that the tech started at the MS size by SNRI, and then was copied by Crossbone Vanguard in a ship scale, and aftewards, the federation reverse engeenered the complete minovsky drive from the Mother Vanguard wreckage and scaled back to MS size.It make the SNRI the mary sue of technology development, as EVERYTHING was originated from the formula project, instead of being organicaly developed by diferent factions stealing and developing from each other.
>>24019937
>>24019943not really, if you ask meSNRI had the tech, they made a prototype based on the theory. Using mobile suits for it is just sensible, that's where all the military development is centered. It's fundamentally flawed and the one test nearly totaled the suit and had a better attempt at killing its pilot than most live combat situationseven when it was used again it was strictly as a supportive function, nowhere near close to what it was intended to doCrossbone Vanguard uses the same tech and makes it perform far better, just forced to be at a different scale. Backroom deals are nothing new, they're kinda central to the setting in this era.F99 combines the early experiences and data from F90W with the practical example and what was scavenged from the Mother Vanguard. Makes sense they put together a much more refined model compared to Anaheim's fuckass Speed King if the engineers had more know-how to lean on.And it's not like SNRI is responsible for everything, one of the main reasons miniaturized MS development suddenly sped up after the Heavygun was leaked early Den'an Zon data and spec projections. Even if it was a few years too early to be a credible threat it did lit a fire under the Federation's ass because holy fucking shit it's an actual wunderwaffe compared to anything they have.Hell, F90 even with an insanely good pilot ended up wrecked in a fight against Den'an Zons and even F91 was just a smidge better than the Vigna Ghina, mostly owing to fully performing biocomputer and thus also perfected VSBR. But meanwhile Rafflesia, Neo Psycommu, Bugs and so on were just as insane technology if not more so. And these did not come from SNRI.
How good are shelf nozzles, really?
>>24019950bretty gud yessir
>>24019955F goddamn Ninety fucking One biiiootch.Great goonies small movie, cool prequel to crossbone.
>>24019912>https://mangadex.org/title/e46d3033-ed4b-467c-a48c-ccc3f6e5a398/mobile-suit-crossbone-gundam-love-pieceX-11 appears to have been taken down
>>24020111I assume the manga is more than two chapters long? Read those way back and remember it not ending.
>>24019928It was developed by the engineer that move on to perfect the Minovsky Drive in Victory gundam; before captured and beheaded by Zanscare. Remember that League Millitare are comprised of ex-members of AE, SNRI, and EF.
>>24020155Was it? I know we see one of the LM old men in his younger days working in installing it but I don't think he had any influence on the V2 in particular later on. That was the work of Uso's mom. She might have been involved in F99 but it was never explicitly confirmed I think.
>>24020132Yes, it got two volumes.IIRC, X-11 wasn't fully translated either.
>>24019947Nah>>24019955Great in many ways, but I hate those fins that come out of the shoulders.
>>24020328Absolute tastelet
Reminder that F90FF made the Zorin Soul part of UC proper continuity, built in UC 110 as a psycommu test type, inspired in part by the Sazabi's tech. This is one of the only Gaia Gear references to be made in any licensed Gundam product since 1995.
>>24020328this is a man who knows what's good and what's bad
>>24020455Did it though?I distinctly remember Veronica saying that it's a spoof used to conceal actual hidden information. Which means Zorin Soul could be just an easter egg and it is very possible that no such suit exists. Of course there are several other ways to interpret her words and it's certainly doesn't shut down the idea completely and the fact that Gaia Gear was actually referenced is big even by itself.
>>24017614is there a good list with all the late UC stuff in release order?
>>24020455Advance of Zeta also kinda sorta references it
>>24020455Problem with Gaia Gear is that Sunrise/Bandai don't own it and Tomino has said he is not interested in it being revisited at all.A blurry easter egg in a side manga might go unnoticed, but the chances of it ever appearing in a real official capacity are slim to none.UC 200+ is going to be G-Saviour or something completely new if they ever get that far
>>24020905Oblivion G is already UC200s, by its time all traces of Anaheim or similar frame tech are lost. The Fragment Gundam is built on a modified Mobile Worker platform
>>24020905Producer Ogata once said the UC Next 100 project could someday reach Gaia Gear in a 2018 interview. They have at least thought about it, and rights issues can absolutely change if the incentive is there.I agree that it's unlikely to say the least. Doing a new late UC entry seems more likely should that ever happen, but Hathaway was considered "impossible to adapt" until it wasn't. Even the Japanese trailers joked about this.
>>24021035>but Hathaway was considered "impossible to adapt" until it wasn't. Even the Japanese trailers joked about this.At least HF had been getting merchandise, official artwork and game appearences for years and years prior to the anime. Same with Sentinel.GG has none of this, at all. There is clearly another level of separation here beyond what other Gundam related works had. Even G-Saviour got a cameo in build fighters.
Why hasn't Bandai animated Crossbone yet? there's zero copyright disputes
>>24021774Why would they? The easy kits already sell anyway
>>24021776There's no such thing as a corporation thinking they have enough money already and don't need to make more
>>24021778obviously not what I am saying
Never thought I'd see the day where Grand Zam is on a manga volume cover
>>24021774We have been paused on UC Next for like in years at this point because Hathaway 2 was so delayed. Trust the plan
I just think they're cute
>>24021827I wonder what they'd sell as kits though. Maybe they could get Katoki to do minor redesigns on the MS
>>24021860by the time any potential Crossbone adaptation is on the horizon the HG and the MG will be more than overdue for 2.0s anyway. Hell, nobody would mind if the MG got one right now.
>>24021864is it bad?
>>24021866it's not bad at all, but it is a tad finicky and modern engineering could definitely do a much better jobplus opportunity to have it work on the same standard as F91 2.0 and all the F90s
>>24020174Hence why there are no WoL outside of the Phantom and their variants beyond Victory; all of the developers/engineers are dead, and LM probably destroyed all of the blueprints to ensure that none of the tech falls into the wrong hands.
>>24021931ENTER
>>24021931X-12, X-11 Fata Morgana Vogel and Grampus aren't Phantom variants, even if they source the Minovsky Drive technology from it.
>>24021976It's very interesting that the Jupiter republic have the know how for the Minovsky Drive, even if the WoL itself is still kinda incomplete.
>>24021989At this point WoL being incomplete is more of a cut costs thing. Also in the Earth Sphere there also is the know-how for the Phantom styled Minovsky Drive as well, but it just isn't considered to be as important to have on a mobile suit in comparison.
>>24022005While it's good for a core fighter for a quick escape, it's more beneficial to apply said technology to a MS carrier. The SoL is more sought after than the WoL especially when you put Interplanetary travel into consideration in regards to space colonization.
>>24021989>>24022005Maybe it's like IRL fusion reactors. We know the theory and we have some prototypes that almost work, but no one can get it quite right yet.
>>24022041Its exactly like fusion reactors because its pure fiction made up from nonsense
>>24022055You are many years behind the times.
>>24022005could be a similar case to VSBRs where the underlying principle behind them was already known even before the One Year War but it just took this long to make it applicable in practice due to power (both computational and just energy) needed for them. Which is why Trimurti can have a weapon operating at the same principle a few years before F91's is finished, it's a whole ass space station built around it.
>>24022205Oh, we have them now? Where?
>>24022212Livermore, for one. I expect some scrambled redefinition of "pure fiction made up from nonsense" that applies to their project now. Do note that no one has said they are either economically viable or produce a net excess of electricity, but there is certainly fusion going on. It's definitely still in the >we have some prototypes that almost work, but no one can get it quite right yet.phase (and possibly always will be, but we'll see).
>>24022226Yeah I remember hearing that back in 2022, still a long way to go>>24021791Woah nice
i guess this is the best place to ask: there's still no full or even partial scan of Hathaway 2 design works, right? All I could find is like 4 pictures of the pages like this
>>24022291Interesting, so they're keeping the original ReGZ as the CCA MS, but the one in the movie is the Custom. Wonder if it's the same unit refurbished? It blew up, didn't it? But the ReGZ was supposed to be a one off for Amuro
Every single Hasegawa MS falls into the cycle of me thinking it's ugly and goofy as shit when I first see them, but after a while I look at them again and go "actually this is the coolest thing ever"
>>24022753This is me but it's only ever the second stage
>>24022444>But the ReGZ was supposed to be a one off for AmuroNo? it was always just a limited production shitbucket, it's just that it never took so we only have like three sightings of it
>>24022771I vaguely recall some Amuro lines saying he had to convince Anaheim to build this one off prototype for him because they didn't think it was worth it. Might be from some SRW game though
>>24022791Even if it was an intention decades ago (and it likely wasn't), it was contradicted by other media, like Moon with Re-GZID and Silver Phantom with silver Re-GZ.Amuro might've had to call some favors to actually get one for Londo Bell.
>>24022804>Re-GZID Holy fuck Gyoubu doesn't miss
>>24018529>>24018556The Crossbones are the epitome of just standing there and looking cool in literally any Gundam ever. The Phantom/Ghost elevates that coolness to the next fucking level with its flames and iconic shattered eye scene. It's also one of my favourite "main character" Gundams narratively on the grounds that its kind of depicted as a failure, but still gets shit done. So allow me to sperg out about my love for it. Despite looking rad as hell, the Phantom is objectively kind of a shit MS. And Font is probably the shittiest UC main character pilot. The Phantom? A failed Jovian attempt at the F99/V2. It's Minovksy Drive is a leaky piece of shit that threatens to overheat and blow up the Phantom every time it boots up. They're so embarassed by its failure that they literally cover it up with a cloth of shame and chain it up in a hangar. Font, a shitty pilot but pretty decent programmer is the first person to ever attempt to "understand" the Phantom and make sense of its ass backwards operating system and properly boot it up. So the first time the Phantom truly awakens and boots up its imperfect Minovsky Drive, it's like it shouts in flaming fury at the injustices it received and sees. It's not truly a Gundam, but it fights for a cause it believes in and the flames embodying its imperfection form the iconic Gundam V-fin.It's not even really a Crossbone unit, but it inherits the will of Tobia and lots of the parts and equipment with the actual Crossbones. It's not even a "good guy" Mobile Suit as when its eye shattered, it reveals the alien and uncaring Jovian eye beneath, showing its origins as a Jovian terrorism prototype suit. And Font? He's just a fucking nerd shitter of a pilot that actually flubs most of his fights. And this shitter of a pilot and frankensteined failure of a suit saved the earth sphere in a story that will never be recorded in history. And yet people who were there will give hushed whispers of a "Ghost" in that era.
Locking the Phantom and Ghost kits behind P-Bandai is one of the stupidest things Bandai has done and they already do plenty of retarded shit.
>>24022863Everything will be p-bandai pretty soonLike all businesses, they are leaving the general customer behind and chasing that whale money
>>24022860It may be a failed prototype but it is by no means a shit MS. Pretty sure that even without activating the Minovsky Drive, it's superior than the Crossbones on raw stats alone. It's still a Gundam-like "body", for lack of a better term. IIRC the Desphys is basically just the Phantom without the flames and with beam claws instead, and it's a great ms. Agreed on everything else, it's sick as fuck. Not a fan of Font personally, and the whole loliwife thing felt a bit too... Japanese for my liking, but you're spot on with most of your observations. It's owrth noting that Font doesn't really flub fights though, he's always coming up with clever ideas and he's got the balls to try suicidal plans like comitting Seppuku with a beam saber to unlock your transformation, or flying at mach fuck towards a nuke (was it a nuke ? I can't remember) even while the Gs are killing you (which really says a lot about the Phantom's acceleration if it can render linear seats worthless). And being immune to Midas' "curse" because of your "evil eye" is peak chuuni
>>24022881> it's superior than the Crossbones on raw stats aloneNot sure about that actually. The Crossbones are souped up demonic midget spawns. What they lack in decisive weaponry, their raw engine and thruster output allows them to do all of the looney tunes nonsense Seabook and Tobia love to do. They also have batman level of random bullshit utility tools strapped to them by default. With its MD activated, the Phantom definitely outstrips a Crossbone in performance, but its the same MD that has very limited operation time and is constantly threatening overheat the Phantom. The Phantom's biggest strength are actually its large I-fields, making it a defensive monster against beam weaponry. And yet ironically, the primary purpose of its I-fields are to restrain the MD output and prevent the Phantom from imploding itself when it boots up its MD.
>>24022881Font isn't a very good pilot. In straight up fights, he's always on the backfoot. And he relies on Haroro's AI support to make up for his shortcomings as a pilot. Spoiler for Dust, but Ash is a better fighter than him and beats him to the ground. He is absolutely fucking insane though. What he lacks in piloting talent, he makes up for his steel balls that are probably pumping Bernadette full of sperm right now. His slingshotting across earth to keep up with the Nuke (yes, it was a nuke) was so ridiculous that Haroro said that no amount of AI assistance will increase the success rate of the bullshit he was attempting. And mind you, he wasn't even wearing a specialized suit that time. It was a hastily put on normal suit that barely mitigated the Gs that are scrambling his internal organs at the time. And his last clash with Midas? The fucking madman rammed the Phantom's I-fields to it in a suicide bum rush just to give him a moment to land a decisive blow. In terms of actual maneuvering or piloting, Font doesn't have any impressive feats, but he does have a big brain autism that actually lets him capitalize on the Phantom's core strengths. It's a powerful suit held together by Jovian duct tape and Font made sure to use every single thing in it to its max potential.>But doing that means that he's actually a good pilot you dumbassI guess? If you want to be pedantic about it. But honestly, for me, not really. He doesn't pull of any of the wild acrobatics, maneuvers and kills that established piloting geniuses like Amuro or Tobia does. Most of his best feats are carried by the Phantom's special capabilities. But knowing what his suit can do, doing it at the right moment and being unhinged enough to bet his own life in his batshit plans is what Font does best.
>>24022913>rammed the Phantom's I-fields to it in a suicide bum rush just to give him a moment to land a decisive blow. AKA the Tobia Arronax special. That's literally how the Zeus Incident ended. Whether Curtis wants to admit it or not, Font is just like him when he was a teen.I don't think Font is anywhere on the level of Tobia or even Seabook, but I think its a bit mean to call him a complete shitter. The guy is decently competent if nothing else. Not a genius sure, but he can handle himself good enough.
>>24022897The X-0 is an original Crossbone and it's often mentioned that it was amazing for its time but nowadays it can only keep up because its pilot is an Ace of Aces, it's basically a grunt painted silver. No such thing is said about the Phantom.
>>24022881> the whole loliwife thing People forget but Font is like 16 and Belle is just 12. By Gundam standards, that's actually a pretty tame relationship age gap. Frankly, they're both still just kids. And Font actually never really makes any moves on Belle, he seems to view her as a kid sister than anything else. If anything, he's still a horny teenager and its Tres and her big tits that get him flustered and interested. I guess Belle just buckbroke him into accepting that he's doomed to be her husband by the time of Dust.
>>24022931She should've won... it's not fair...
>>24022931Hasegawa is based like Tomino in that he dared to ask the question on whether its hotter to go after the girl 5 years younger than you, or the girl 5 years older than you.
>>24022937and proved he's a coward by not picking "both"
>>24022937cease and desist writing just like you already have thinking
>>24022934I like to think that after the Zanscare war, they heard about what the actual cartoonish fuck happened to the Group A Shrike Team and the three of them collectively went: "Welp, that's enough war for us."
>>24022946“No survivors, even the replacement members but the dust”
>>24022946
What's your favorite Crossbone out of the original 0-3 models? Do you prefer beam shields or I-fields? Do you want a non-euclidean cockpit that holds both the pilot and also two large machine cannons at the same time?
>>24018556they actually animated some crossobones stuff? what's this from?
>>24022965Fan projects, really impressive ones
>>24022961Personal ranking:0 > 1 > 3 > 2X-0 Full Cloth > X-1 Full ClothI would actually put the X-3 over the X-1 if not for the huge 3 on its forehead. Getting a huge number printed on your forehead, even if heavily stylized, looks a bit too tacky for me.
>>24022961>Do you want a non-euclidean cockpit that holds both the pilot and also two large machine cannons at the same time?what's this about
>>24023002anon is confused and scared by geometry and drawings
>>24023002The eyes of the chest skull on the X-3 are machine cannons. You might notice that's where the cockpit is supposed to be
>>24023011See this is why you discard Hasegawa's designs as just nonsense. Katoki didn't put guns there so it doesn't have any.
>>240229983 > 2 > 1 > 0but they're all 10/10 so it's a distinction without a difference really>>24023021 Katoki is so fucking boring if he has too much control
>>24022827>Re-GZIDThe Re-GZ was pronounced "Rig-izzy" in the film...so is this one pronounced "Rig-izzid"?
>>24022827Looks good overall but the INCOMS on the shins just doesn't fit.
>>24023070then good news, they're not incoms
>>24023072The bad news: still looks off.
>>24023070They're dummy balloon launchers and I think they look amazing. It's like mecha tacticool but done right instead of dressing your MS like a sized up SWAT operator (cough jesta cough)
>>24023028Rig-izzat
>>24023028"ID" Comes from "ideal", so it'd be the "Rig-Izzy Eye Dee"
when we getting the rigyzzigger
Do you think the space AK goes "RATATAT" or does it just go "CHOOM" like a normal beam rifle?
How much cool story and lore are stuck in these games we never got?
>>24023028>リガズィードYes, basically.Though apparently "G" is supposed to go into "ga" as in "Gandamu" and not into "gi".
>>24023210Its more like "rigzee" in speech
>>24022913Remember Font outright evolves into something totally different from a Newtype and is the embodiment of Tobia rejecting the stupid Newtype superiority he set onbsince the original Crossbone mangaWhatever that feature is Font displays it when he pulled off that feat of catching up a nuke from behind and during the final battle against the Midas
>>240229613, 2, 1They all are perfect imo but the 3 manages to distinguish itself enough from it's brothers
>>24021774I think that ship sailed definitely when they made the hg Crossbone x1 kitAny series is just to sell toys and sadly, Crossbone sufers from a sameface or in this case, same model syndrome as the main suits are identical and there really are no iconic antagonist mechs save for maybe, the amakusa due to the connection of it being amuros brain in a jarAt this point I think we are just going to end up with an ova at best
>>24023193at this point basically nothing since FF and Cluster adapt it
>>24023193This game has a translation patch. It's also a pretty terrible game. It's like they couldn't decide if they wanted to make it a strategy or action game and the result is some weird hybrid that fails as both.
>>24023280It's amazing how many great designs were wasted on it.
>>24022934that kinda came out of nowhere but when she went "fuck it" and kissed Font when jaburo got nuked I too think she deserved to win
it was a beautiful sight
>>24023177It's like the machine guns from Gundam Wing, it goes "BVRRRRRRR"
>>24023177god I hope that when it shows up in Hatha 3 they give it the ReZEL rifle or somethingI love silly stuff usually but I hate this gun so much
>>24023346>>24023412Fun fact! Jaburo was abandoned because they had to chop down the entire Amazon rainforest to make wooden furniture for beam rifles
>>24023454No more than one of those must've been built though.
>>24023459Listen, it takes A LOT of wood, ok?
>>24023454Realistically it's just painted like that for... some reason.Honestly if it's ever explained as the engineer in charge being a weirdo that sneaked this past final approval somehow I'd kinda like it.
>>24023480It's obviously to taunt Char and his Neo Zeon goons, since they were all about stopping the destruction of earth's environment. I imagine they also considered giving it a huge cape made out of endangered species' pelts
>>24023567I believe this.>Amuro fights Char wearing a skin coat of the last panda on Earth
>>24023574>Panda's newtype ghosts manning the funnels
>>24023219>Whatever that feature isI think its just actual autism. Not super space magic autism.Just the good ol spectrum of being hyperfixated on one specific thing to an unhealthy extent.
THEY FINALLY GOT MARRIED
>>24023314That reminds me, we should be getting our next monthly mobile machine article relatively soon>>24024356YES
>>24024399next Gundam Ace releases September 26
You think that if Amuro survived, and ended up still piloting mobile suits well into the UC 0120s in his mid-fifties to his sixties, that he'd enjoy piloting an F90, or would he be too weirded out by the fact that Units 1, 2, and 3 (the one that would become the F90IIIY Cluster Gundam iirc) have AI based off of him, Char, and Kamille, respectively? Would he make use the Next Type mission pack like Job John imagined he would, or would he rather use something comparatively more practical?
>>24024356Isn't she like 12
>>24024470There's like a three year gap between them. And it's also been years since they woke up from cryo so it's not like she's a child at this point I think
>>24022913That's because Font isn't much of a solder at all, he's a technician at best. Most of his feat boils down to his now how and trust within the mobile suits he piloted. Compare that to Uso fucking Erwin, who be trained from birth to defend the Earth form the Zanscare invaders; only for him to developed PTSD and never dare to pilot a mobile suit again (hell, the V2 were pretty much scrapped by the time Dust rolled around).
>>24019947Are those Minovsky drives on the back next to the thrusters?
>>24024470Out of ten!She's at least 16.
>>24024575The V2 shows up in Dust? I imagine it WoLrapes all opposition
>>24024705not exactly; IIRC, there's a mobile suit with V2 Buster canons; but that's about it.
>>24024472>>24024633I guess anything goes in the post-apocalypse to be fair. And who wouldn't pass up the opportunity to get married atop a MS.Just uhhh... maybe turn off the Phantom Light? I see that flaming v-fin, I would not wnat to be standing anywhere near the Phantom's body
>>24024740The Phantom's wings aren't opened up. And Forced Cooling (i.e. opening up the mouth just like the Crossbones) isn't on.Phantom Light isn't active. And the Phantom V3's Minovksy Drive is at its most refined and fine-tuned level yet, so I think it can at least turn on the Flaming V-Fins now for ceremonial purposes without fucking burning everything around it.
>>24024740>>24024786The Mechanical Notes for the Phantom V3 shows that it has incorporated the technological developments that came with the Blanc Lion into it's design, so that means it more or less stabilized its MD and can operate for a few hours without the need for emergency cooling. They also fixed the unstable I-fields that were honestly the Jovian band-aid solution to the original imperfect MD. So this means that the Phantom is more stable and efficient than ever, but it lost the fucking cool flaming aura of the Phantom Light coming out in whatever available orifice (which remember, was a side effect of its imperfect MD output literally leaking out of the seams of the Phantom and being only held together by the unstable I-field)The endgame events of Dust also left the Phantom with most of its weapons busted. So it lost its Shield is and the gear it inherited from Blackrow Shipping (i.e Crossbone Units Spare parts). So besides than the Flame Swords built into it, it's just making do with a basic bitch Beam Rifle.I get that Font was never much of a fighter in the first place, but I do at least wish it gets another upgrade down the line. Give me a fucking Ghost V2 Hasegawa. You're unhinged enough to do it. Kind of funny that the namesake unit for Font's own time as a main protagonist was only actually around for the last two volumes.
>>24024786>>24024796On one hand, it's lame since the flaming cloak was like, the main delling point of the MS. On the other, doesn't fixing the syste mean it's basivally a perfected V2 with the bonus of full body I-fields? I don't know how they could get anything to pose a challenge, especially not dhit liek a jury-rigged Zaku II with Sazabi legs or whatever shit shows up in Dust. Also, why did it go back to green? Did they run out of silver paint?
>>24024829>On the other, doesn't fixing the syste mean it's basivally a perfected V2 with the bonus of full body I-fields?from what I read the Phantom and its derivatives' engines still haven't reached the same power levels as the V2's minovsky drive even after upgrades
>>24024829>Also, why did it go back to green? Did they run out of silver paint?the silver was a special protective coating that all got burned off at the end of Ghost
