>>42498547The 4cc credits are a nice touch. Loved working on it with everyone.
>>42499432team up with someone else to get it done. Having that extra bit of accountability and someone else to help pick up the slack has really helped me in the pastI wish every project I work on could be a collaborative effort, but I feel like I kinda still need to prove myself first
I've updated my game from the game jam with some new stuff, and changes to make it a little shorter and less repetitive. The main thing is: you can now pick one of three kirin to play as! Each one has different spells and effects. If you were interested in the first version from the jam, I think you'll like this update!https://carrotpone.itch.io/the-kirin-brews-some-tea/devlog/1015821/v03-triple-kirin>>42499432It depends on what type of projects they are, but perhaps you have problems of scope? Try doing a relatively small project that you can finish more quickly, so there's less chance of you getting distracted or burnt out. If you are continually starting huge ambitious things that take 6 months you may be hard pressed to finish them. That being said, it's not necessarily bad to have 2 projects at once. Switching between them every week or so can help keep your mind fresh.
Sketched this earlier, it took about 30 minutes. It was originally supposed to be Rarity but her hair got me mad so I don't know who it'll be anymore. (There won't be any genital details or squishy hooves.)

Pony wears the hat
perhaps this might be of interest to you music people, I found out there's electric kazoos! there's even people on youtube plugging them into guitar pedals to make all sorts of sounds.me I have no musical doings so far and never learned an instrument, but I ordered myself a (regular) kazoo, a midi keyboard and a mouth harp yesterday, being able to play/make music seems like a good (and eventaully, fun) skill to pick up.>>42501284is this just the way they're cast or could this also be used like those "excavate your own dino" kits?>>42500877that's really cool, how does it work? is it multiple 2d images cleverly layered? or still 3d? because it looks very 3d but i'd imagine something like that would take up computing power
>>42501987>that's really cool, how does it work? It's not real 3D. I render out a depth map like picrel and use Wallpaper Engine's Depth Parallax effect.
>>42501987> (regular) kazoo, a midi keyboard and a mouth harpGood choices in instruments, I see you're also a man of culture, what kind of mouth harp? Are you going to mare fair?
>>42502130a Schwarz 75mm. I just picked out one that was popular, froma name brand and not too expensive, never played one before so ill see how it goes.not going to mare fair, at least not this year. it's very far away, i've never been to the US.who knows, maybe next year.
>>42502388boing oing oing oingcool, I have 2 (one looks like picrel), not sure on the brand but Ive always loved the sound of musical resonance. The reason I ask was maybe it would've been fun to do a non-musician jam session with novelty instruments, I might bring a jaw harp anyway, and last year I swear I heard a theremin coming from one of the hotel rooms
>>42502407a good idea, i'm sure one would find some people interested in trying out different instruments.though i'm not sure if a jaw harp would be the best for such an occasion, at least not for handing around, less because it's something you put in your mouth but moreso because if someone holds it wrong (and surely that risk grows the more you're distracted from just having a great time and/or are tipsy) there's the real risk of chipping a tooth. wouldn't wanna risk ruining anyone's weekend with that.some other instruments that come to mind that might be good for something like this would be a kalimba and a stylophone
>>42502547for sure on both not sharing con-crud and chipping teeth: I learned the hard way playing after drinking, luckily it wasn't too bad and Im just missing a millimeter off one of the front teeth
>>42501987>is this just the way they're cast or could this also be used like those "excavate your own dino" kits? Its just how they're cast. You could probably use them as a excavate your own dino kit, but it'd be a lot harder since this specific mold material is a fired ceramic and theres also a lot of clean up for the metal that comes after removing it from the mold.Though I guess something like that would be possible to make by just covering a finished cast in plaster of paris or something similar

>>42505985congratswhat midi keyboard did you get? I've had ones that let you set a musical key, so you don't ever play an off note. Wish I had that back in college when trying to jam with musicians, they'd be like "key of A" and I was like "shit" lol
>>42504537cute tribal pone
>>42506132it's an M-AUDIO Keystation 49 MK3. It's got generally good reviews, wasn't too expensive and came with a music software (ableton 12 live lite) included for free so that's what I bought.Tried it out a bit more today and one thing I really notice is that i'm not used to how the hands are positioned. normally I operate a PC with mouse and keyboard (almost exclusively stuff that controls with WASD), so the hands being so close together is unusual and feels a bit odd.don't know if it has a feature like you described, it'd probably have to be done in the software.i'm considering if I should label the keys with letters to make it a bit easier for the beginning.
>>42508790... and that's a big keyboard too! I've usually gone with smaller keyboards over the years, I don't _play_ keyboard, more just use it to lay down some ideas while recording the midi, but I did take piano lessons and did drills as a kid... I looked it up and yep HANON EXERCISES, that's a blast from the past, give those a shot to get more used to the feelingAlso, check out Reaper, it's a cheap ($60) very powerful DAW (and it also runs on linux which is important for me), you can load VSTs like Odin2 or whatever, but I haven't messed with that much
Trying not to die.
>>42509797yeah i figured if I get a small keyboard it may be more handy, but if a song required more range i'd constantly have to press some buttons to switch octaves and that would distract.gonna look at those exercises, hope it helps.

>>42509797As a reaper user theres one glaring issue with reaper being it is JUST a daw, meaning unlike every other daw that comes with pre-installed plug-ins Reaper comes with absolutely nothing. This isn't me saying Reaper is bad (as I use Reaper) but it provides a pretty steep starting curve since you have to actually look for software at the start of using it compared to every other daw, love it, but just a heed of what your getting yourself into when actually using Reaper.

The first DAW I really jammed with (besides FL off Kazaa) was Propellerhead Reason, which is sort of the exact opposite of Reaper. I actually haven't used many external plugins myself with Reaper, I mentioned Odin2 because that's the only synth VST Ive installed, unless DrumGizmo counts. You're 100% right to warn, I gave up on using Reaper a couple times in the past, but once I got it (thanks youtube tuts) it became my DAW for life

Finished sewing a bundle of Anon Filly plushies for a few folks going to Mare Fair! I used the MyLittleWaifu beanie and Voodoo-Tiki's loaf patterns to make them. Some of these fillies have magnets so they can be shoulder plushies, and others have squeakers so they can reee!
>>42516722Just curious, how much in materials does it cost per filly? I'm guesing that the MLW beanies are ~8" with the loaves being the same size?picrel is a wallet project I stitched by hand, it is a wallet to say the least, but It was mostly to just get familiarity with hand stitching since I know plushes will need a ton of more precise hand stitching operations for embroidery, blanket/hidden stitches and etc.
>>42516722Also went ahead and sewed Coco Pommel and a skunk pony. These two have belly magnets so they can be worn on the shoulder. Coco's Pommel's tie is removable as well. They have scent sachets inside too! Coco smells like lavender and vanilla, while the skunk pony smells like juniper and elderberriesI'm down for rehoming them, so if you see them at Mare Fair and you want to adopt Coco...or a skunk pony, you'll have to find me!>>42518014Doing some napkin math, one ~8" beanie filly with machine embroidery costs about $27.50 to $51.50 to make. Realistically it's much cheaper, but I cannot make a good estimate on how much thread is needed so I'm including the whole spool. Here's a list of materials I used with current prices so you can see where I'm coming from:>FabricGreen Minky: $14/yard (only need 1/4, so $3.50)Black Minky: $14/yard (only need 1/4, so $3.50)>NotionsEmbroidery Thread: $2-5 per 250yd spool (need bobbin thread, black, white, three greens, so $12-30)General Purpose Thread: $2-5 per 500yd spool (ideally need black and green, so $4-10)Water-Soluble Stabilizer: $13 per 7" x 9 yd roll (need about 24 inches with a 4x4 hoop; so about $1)Cut-away Stabilizer: $13.50 per 8'' x 11 yd roll (need about 24 inches, so about $1)Stuffing: $15 for a 32 ounce bag (around 4 oz, about $2)Beads: $7 for a 1 lb bag (need 30g, about $0.50)As a whole, you're looking at around $116.50 to get all these materials, but you can bring this down cheaper if you source your materials locally and buy only as much fabric as you need. The loaves are ~4" long excluding the tail, so the loaves require fewer materials and can be made much cheaper.I would definitely recommend making a beanie if you want to practice hand stitching! You'll have to use plenty of backstitches and hidden stitches to make one, wew.

The folder also includes various official albums, video game soundtracks, songs from toy products, commercial songs, and audiobooks.(3): All Italian G4 songs have been added to the collection under "Other Languages (Foreign Dubs)".(4): All European Spanish G4 songs have been added to the collection under "Other Languages (Foreign Dubs)".(5): All Latin American Spanish G4 songs have been added to the collection under "Other Languages (Foreign Dubs)". This also includes all songs from Equestria Girls: El show en vivo.(6): Tons of previous songs from the German and French collections have been improved using AI audio source separated vocals and editing them under instrumentals, or have just been improved by better editing.Actually, for the funsies I also quickly did the Faroese dubbed songs, but I searched high and I searched low, but I couldn't find the Faroese versions of The Show Stoppers and Baby Cakes so I cannot complete the Faroese collection. They can be seen in archive.org on the website they were hosted on, but they don't load. Well. I also wanted to do the Dutch dubbed songs next, but I couldn't find its media being hosted in full anywhere, so I am going to do Polish next, which is fully available. Thinking about it, I don't really know how I am going to be able to translate the track titles of non-Latin alphabet languages in the future - that's going to be hard - but I also wasn't able to translate the titles for the Faroese dubbed songs, so yeah.

newfag sewanon hereI just finished a cover for my sewing machine, but I fucked up the measurements and didn’t realize the case itself needs to be 5 pieces instead of 4 pieces. It looks ugly but it covers the machine. It’s also given me good practice handling cumbersome fabric under a small household sewing machine (have to cut the bobbin threads then reposition, etc) Once I get some money from my job, I’ll consider cutting out some of the mare patterns (I have surplus blue and purple felt), sewing them, and learning from my mistakes. That and I need to learn how to sew darts

>>42536271Sewanon back, still patching the quilt.7 1/2 patches are done (1/2 because it’s late and I have to eat, so one patch still has seams that need to be finished). I tried using different fabrics, figured out a easier way to sew bulkier materials where I might have difficulty finding the lower bobbin thread without pulling the entire quilt off the machine, and all of this experience should transfer well into handling bulky fabric on a small home machine.Hopefully after my first paycheck I can experiment with appliqué and making patterns/following patterns off of paper. I might sew some featureless felt mares as a test run then. I wonder if Rarity is proud of me..

I'll wait a couple of days until I decide what to doI'm expecting a lower number of submissions, but since there'll be no time limit we'll take all the time in the world to check out the games, and I'll see if I can set up a commentary box people can hop on for like 10 seconds to talk on the stream; that might be fun.If nothing comes out of this post then I'll just proceed with what I just saidI'm sorry this turned into a blog post, feel free to tell me to fuck off
>>42561318Maybe I should've made a thread for this, brain feels scrambled after mare fair. But I feel the op defines the theme of the thread and I didn't want to start one with a question.
>>42561318I would say better to err on the side of caution for things like this.
>>42561827I don't quite understand your position anon, you saying we should continue as normal?
>>42561318maybe you could make a 2 day microjam where with a super restrictive theme, like only one button allowed or game must end under 1 minute, it could lead to silly tiny games
>>42562392Sorry. I'm saying it's probably better to do one of the prep time ideas.

PLUSHIE FAGS!111 I'm looking to make metal plushie armor. what dimensions are plushies, and what is the average plushie size?
>>42519249do I remember you posting in /app/ years ago?
3d bump, im out of practice but i'd like to make my own horse model to go with my horse drawings
>>42566294sounds like you don't have one yet. sooner or later you're gonna need a plushy to test it out anyway, so why not get a common one straight away to base it on? you yourself know best which measurements you need
>>42566666Checking super satan
>>42566297Yep, I've been working on this off and on for ages now

>>42566831I'm not a plushfag plus I live with my folks. they already know I'm a brony, I don't need to have them disown me anon.

Is there going to be a Halloween pony jam in October like last year's?

>>42569281Usually I block the entire model of something out from a cube then subdivide it a bit. I find it helps me control the topology better, in this case the snout threw me so I separated it from the head to feel the shapes out more

Sewanon backFinished my first test amre plush, this pattern kind of sucks though, it’s from a 2015 Bronycon plushmaking panel.I’m probably going to get something that can be machine stitched, backstitching by hand is a pain, so is ladder stitching the head to the body.
anypony here have experience making reusable airbrush stencils? need some tool suggestions and advice.

>>42572726anon, you missed lewda in top left corner
>>42572394PVRE SOVLBut frankly speaking, your biggest problem is the fabric. Okay, long seams of backstitch are pain but I do about half of head seams by hand on my 'regular' sized plushes and you can't differentiate it from machine seam. And that is because the proper minky has nap and stretch, so small imperfections stay hidden and most of the patterns are designed with minky stretch in mind. I'd suggest you to try next practice pieces with real minky and see the difference.
>>42572335to be honest the whole grabbing spheres and sculpting them doesn't flow as well for me as i see it do for others in shit like speed sculpts, though that might be from lack of practice more than anything
>>42573007>biggest problem is the fabricI’ll go use some of the felt I have for a second test run later, and maybe try doing some appliqué eyes. For now I just think I need to get my hand stitches looking more consistent, and get some stuffing that isn’t random fabric scraps cut up and shoved in. That and I’m pretty sure I nailed the darts for the head on the first try, which is nice.Otherwise any ideas for the fraying cotton bedsheet fabric I’m using? Or is it just pretty much scrap test fabric?
>>42573568The woven cotton is quite useless for plushes IMO, it works so completely different compared to knitted minky that I don't even bother to prototype with it anymore.

>>42573859Can you put this somewhere with some word-wrap and a better font, like Ponepaste?
>>42576453>PonepasteDone.https://ponepaste.org/11374
>>42576507much more readable, thanks. >We mustn’t succumb without enforcing revenge”. The period goes inside the quotation marks.>We thinketh of thou perfect plan!”. I'm not sure how you get this right then proceeded to get it wrong again.> thou weaponryshould be thine weaponry>WEAPONARY!”typo here>“Thou revenge has arrived”Thy revenge hast arrived! As for the writing, I give it a 2/10, somehow worse than Tamers, Cupcakes and Sweet Apple Massacre with none of the memetic staying power. Applejack and Braeburn are just kind of shoved in and there's no satisfying pay off or punchline to the setup.
>>42577457Thank you. I know that I'm not a good writer.
>>42572394I love the sackmare!!
Been playing around with a laser etcher that I'm not familiar with. Trying to get the power settings right so I've got something for Secret Santa in a few months. I also need to get better at photo manipulation as the base image was pretty dark, so trying to get a clean-ish svg from it was a pain.
>>42578577based. i lost my derpy water bottle that i won during secret santa, on my way back from mare fair 2024:(i think it slipped out the side pocket after lifting it out of the upper head cabinet, they obviously didn't let me back in once i leftthough i tried
>>42578864Hope you can win another one this coming SS.
Sewanon backI used the same pattern with different fabric this time (blue fleece I think?) and it just turned out okay>goodstitching way more consistent, nothing tore apart easily at the seamsI managed to easily stuff and flip inside out the two halves (head/body)>badI accidentally cut seams when I was trimming off the extra seam allowance, to cope for this I just whipstitched whatever was open rather then resew the entire body. the head looks funny
>>42581374fuck exif rotation
They have each other now for comfort!Next steps would be to get some minky fabric off of ZFabric, a proper fucking fabric marker (never buy soapstone chalk for marking fabric), and a nice fabric cutting board. Then I’d either use cholyknight’s patterns, or stick to that one anon guide I have.
Hey hey people Blondie here.I've done a number of storytelling panels over the last year and a while. Since I haven't been able focus on writing, I'm trying to instead focus as much as I can on alternative forms of storytelling. It is likely just going to be me sitting and telling stories of various themes with men and mares. More focused and a bit structured compared to the panels of just going off on things and acting as proof of concept that you don't need to spend so much time plotting out points. My two main questions include this: would it be better to make it a video or to just make it an audio file? Video won't have anything special outside of an image if that.Other question is, if anyone's listened to my stuff at /mlp/con this year, were the volume levels good? https://www.youtube.com/@blondieanon/streams is where I have my panel streams and they seemed good but I want to make sure that when I do this, I can get the exact settings and just go.My larger goal is to one day get some others together and try out some audio drama story, on top of other grander projects. The first step to that was doing the panels. I think the next step to that is me personally telling unique stories and getting the pacing more refined. As far as I'm aware, there's no other thread to discuss this sort of plan.
>>42581440manmade mares beyond comprehension...
>>42581374Nothing personell kid, but it really shouldn't look like this even if it's your first try. Are you sure you understand the instructions?
>>42582382the instructions are fine, I followed them to the dot but they are ambiguous in some sections, I.e do I sew flipped head pieces with darts facing each other or away from each other? These are just test runs anyways, I can’t learn if I’m not making mistakes, and if I had to personally guess I kept sewing on the cut lines because I’m a retard and it’s easy to follow, I’ll have to mark the sew lines as a separate thing away from the cut lines (the pattern itself doesn’t have any actual seam allowance, just says to give 1/4in allowance) Might take me three or four tries to get the design to the dot though, this is the second try and it doesn’t use too much fabric.>>42582374At least both have a degree of Snowpity!
>>42582493it should look like this
>>42572394>I’m probably going to get something that can be machine stitched, backstitching by hand is a pain, so is ladder stitching the head to the body. You need to harden the fuck up. Every kind of plush requires some handsewing.
>>42561318I'll go ahead and annonce a smaller Jam with a shorter deadline like some anons suggested, but I don't want to make it only 2 days, as I don't want people to no-life those 2 days. Possibly one week or slightly longer, but I'll make it clear that the goal is smaller scale games.I'll also ask for projects to shill. I don't expect double digit audience, but people might watch the video recording. I still have to figure out how to mod a cytubeExpect a thread in these next couple of days, I may even make a proper OC for the Jams! A MareDev... Now that I don't have any con mascot to use.bump
>>42582534Did you sew the darts facing each other, or away from each other? (I.e the fabric that pops out when you fold the dart to sew it)Also, I can see you’re using minky which is a different type of fabric from fleece, only final question I have is how big your pattern is scaled to, I think my handmades are less then 6in.
>>42583099looking forward to it
>>42583172Are you intentionally not turning it inside out or stuffing it properly? You're making a pony not a dinosaur. I'm also not sure what you mean about the darts so I'm not convinced you understand how they work, maybe just watch some videos on darting and plushie making that aren't pony related just so you can figure out what they are meant to be like.
>>42583598>Are you intentionally not turning it inside out or stuffing it properly?I'm definitely turning it inside out, I don't have polyfill stuffing, so they're stuffed with fabric scraps which might be "improper" (the fleece is soft enough that I don't see any issues with it)>I'm also not sure what you mean about the dartsThe guide says to fold the head piece in half, connect the edges of the dart together, then to sew, which leaves you with fabric that sticks out. Consult Picrel
>>42583172Here is the pattern with added seam allowance, scaled to US Letter page.
>>42583916You fold the head in half, along the dart edge, with the good side inside, then you sew a straight line across the dart. The sticking out part will be on the bad side, inside the plush.
>>42584795Disregard the seam allowance on the ears, it shouldn't be there.
>>42566294There is an infinite number of plushie sizes and shapes. It is impossible to make an armor not for a specific plush. At best you can target the mass produced ones like anonfilly.
>>42498384working on this sketch of derpy with a crossover to puyo puyo. i have another version and a silver spoon doodle on my shwitter @ectoplasminc not to de-anonymize myself and be a faggot. amateur artist so advice appreciated.
>>42585552It's a bit hard to see what's happening
>>42584798thanks for bearing with my retardation anon, the fleece doesn't have a bad/good side as with minky, but I'll keep this in mind for next time.
>>42585701Yeah but the terms are still used to refer to which side you want to expose.
