it's been ages since i've seen anything eqg related, but it kind of just seems like mlp but with worse character designs and a vastly less interesting setting. not bad enough to call it heretical or anything, but pointless enough to wonder what the point even was. toys. the point was toys.
Friend of mine sent me this thread on Discord. I agree with OP. Once Equestria Girls came out I immensely preferred it to MLP, I don't even partake in MLP related content anymore but still occasionally partake in Equestria Girls stuff.

Starts out as a villain, becomes the protagonist (which was COOL but came largely out of nowhere), then has to share the protagonist spot with a lamer version of Twilight, then they just start coming up with all sorts of "how do you do fellow kids" activities for her to do. She's in a band, streams herself gaming, does street art, works at a sushi restaurant, owns a pet gecko and I'm pretty sure there's more. When the fuck would anyone find time for all this stuff?Lastly, this is probably not a big deal to you, but the spin-off ultimately devolving into 2-minute SoL shorts about nothing was boring and I checked out by that point. If you enjoy cute girls doing cute things for the sake of it, you should probably follow the other anon's advice and watch some moeslop since /a/ has that in droves.EQG had some peaks that were on par or higher than parts of the show (mostly in Rainbow Rocks and Friendship Games) but overall it's definitely not better.
