Nightmare Moon barely existed in the show which means that fans get to build a massive fan idea of who she is a character that's infinitely more appealing than what they would've actually done with her if she was more present in the show.

Sorry, bugbutt.>overall quality of canon appearancesSnooty barely gets enough material to grade her on; she has about eleven minutes of time on screen throughout all nine seasons. Chryssi comes in quite strong in ACW then drops off sharply afterwards (not her fault, blame late season rot). I guess we can only really compare their 'focus episodes'. Out of all the fics I've read, not one does her justice. The one fic I've read that makes Bugbutt and the changelings as a whole interesting and engaging is a damn 40gay crossover.

Then she jobbed to five friends and a sixth they had just met because her sister planned ahead and studied ancient prophecies.Chrysalis infiltrated the nation's capitol, replaced a new princess who was slated to be the leader of an entire subjugated puppet nation, brainwashed the head of the imperial legion, infiltrated an entire army into the capitol, and was bested only because Celestia's prophetic messiah could sus out her former foalsitter being a completely different pony. Then, she managed to take over and replace every single pony in a position of power overnight, but that ends up looking less impressive because it was a contrived plot for poochie to save the day with other hated characters and Trixie. NMM jobbed out and only ever did anything past committing untreated self-harm for years in an alternate poochie-created universe where the prophesy was never fulfilled. Chrysalis managed two major operations, and only got a reputation for incompetence after she lost everything including her own hive and was reduced to a shitty season 8 episode where nobody recognized the pale evil clones were slightly mean versus the real ponies they were mimicking. By virtue of having two (temporary as they were) victories rather than arguably ZERO, there is only one clear winner here.
