Spike was the one who befriended Thorax, and he's friends with Discord. The Great and Powerful Trixie does not need an excuse to be in an episode, but, of all ponies, her "magic" is the most useful in that situation.Starlight Glimmer extending the hoof of friendship to someone who can sense emotion, and so can tell exactly how rotten she is, is the absolute worst idea.
