I imagine that the princess of friendship should be mature enough to handle that friends come and go, and shouldn't be limited to one specific friend group. I get it, you think they are super important because they are the Elements of Harmony, but there will be more ponies who can represent those elements in the future. I guess in a way though, it may be realistic to Twilight's own behavior. After all, she doesn't keep tabs on her friends she abandoned in Canterlot even after trying to reunite.
