Since Lamia are always touching things with their tails and wrapping around things, they are much more sensitive to the physical sense of touch. They will often rub their tails on something they struggle to understand, even if that thing is something abstract like words on a page. Lamia are very touch-dependant and require lots of physical affection, or else they will quickly become depressed.

One is whether or not your body tries to maintain a consistent temperature or just says "fuck it" and rides with whatever the ambient temperature of the environment is. The other is whether their body produces large amounts of heat or not. Lots of different animals handle these differently.I think Lamia don't try to maintain one temperature, they just let it fluctuate. But they do produce heat. So when it's cold enough to drop their internal temperature they will become sluggish like you'd expect from a reptile, but they, but when conditions are normal they're swift. They always produce ambient body heat except when it gets too hot, or when they go long periods without a meal (to conserve energy) or when they shut down and go to sleep for the night. So they're sluggish in the mornings.

I like my monsters to be monster-y and have weird biology, so I think Lamia have 2 independent stomaches and a matching voracious appetite. The larger snake stomach eats meat. The pony stomach is for everything else. If you only feed the pony's stomach the Lamia will eventually die, they HAVE to eat meat and the pony's stomach is too small to supply energy for an animal that large anyway. The snake stomach provides the baseline energy required for survival, and you only feed it ~1-4 times in a 2 week timespan depending on the Lamia's activity level. The pony stomach is for everyday "extra" energy where food is abundant. Feeding only the snake stomach means that the Lamia is going to be sluggish like an actual giant snake. But feeding the pony stomach on top of that makes you faster, more alert, makes them produce ambient body heat, makes them a bit smarter (sapient brains are energy-expensive...) and all around more adept at everything.In theory a Lamia could skip feeding the pony half for a while if it actually wants to enter its slow and sluggish mode on purpose, idk why they'd want to tho.
