Tried my hand at photography, and Gimp was extremely autistic to use, so these pictures took a while to edit; would have liked to post these back with the other anons' Thinkpads oh well>>42616253Linux is cool and old Thinkpads are cool so that's naturally the point of intersection, serving as a Linuxfag to Linuxfag signalling mechanism, which works quite well. Also everything on old Thinkpads are replaceable and upgradable (to an extent), so you can put in a really nice screen that's probably better than most modern laptop panels, which is very nice.

>>42620042>>42620099Fixed the volume slider behaving weirdly on mobile, made smooth transition on sudden cursor position changes (when the cursor leaves the window for example), and generally reorganized the code.https://mare.pages.dev/xstare.svghttps://mare.pages.dev/xderp.svg
>>42620908I like that eye movement. Excellent work, anon, even though seeing all that in an .svg tickles my pinkie sense in a bad way.I wonder what was the original reason to add scripting inside a fucking (vector) image format.
been playing with scripts for putting some files on tmpfs. It's pretty cool. Found out that i can't just symlink back stuff from tmpfs and expect it to play nicely with all software, but bind-mount, in my case fuse3 works well (with a 50% throughput loss from fuse but still pretty nice) works pretty much with everything. Is there any fuse filesystem that lets me bind mount a single file? I've been using unionfs-fuse for the edge case of only wanting to put specific files from a directory (moved) to tmpfs and then fusing the original and tmpfs together into an overlay in the original location
>>42620433>Gimp was extremely autistic to useIt was designed by autistic programmers who know nothing about UX. Just feature after feature, GUI comes later. Can't use it? Strange, it works for me.
>>42621366I think it's the future. I don't believe any animation tools can output scripted svgs, but if anything would be a good contender, it'd be adobe animate. Too bad adobe killed it.
I don't do much ricing, but setting system monitor cpu core colors to some pony color scheme is pretty neat.At least I have something nice to watch when my computer becomes unusable because of `make -j$(nproc)`
>>42621552wait, that's neat! what you running anon? how'd ya do that>>42619956thanks 4 making the OP!
>finally decided to ditch Windows and move over to LinuxI like it.
>>42622045now post what distro you went with and whatever else you've customized/installed so far
>>42620433Maybe Ive just got used to it, but GIMP has really improved over the years. I remember when it was only floating toolbars and windows, that was pretty bad. The "Single-window mode" happening and becoming default was a great thing. Nice clean laptop btw
>>42622107Ended up going with nobaraI haven't really customized too much outside of the wallpaperI just installed a few games and they all work perfectly through protonI was surprised when my drawing tablet just worked right out of the gate.
>>42622181Is opentabletdriver installed? I'd install it if it isn't
>>42622181>nobarathe fuck is nobara?
>>42622566I have too many cases of friends wanting to try linux and then end up choosing some random-ass distro because it sounded nice on a list. No shit linux is hard when you go with something obscure.Nobara is apparently a Fedora based thing. I have no clue how the Fedora world is, compared to the arch and debian based world.
>>42622015on the screenshot is gnome-system-monitor and it's from cinnamon, you can change color of CPU cores by clicking on the legends.I don't know if this is possible with other task managers (KDE might, xfce4 seems impossible) but I don't have any other DE to try it out
>>42621552That's a nice spot to color with ponies.
>>42622580I was using fedora in a VM so I could print a while ago (got zeroconf working these days), seemed alright, reminded me of ubuntu back in the day (pre loaded DE, graphical package manager, bloat, etc)
>>42622580>I have no clue how the Fedora world is, compared to the arch and debian based world.same but from what I heard Fedora is popular for gaymers because of being up-to-date with drivers and not being an unstable rolling release garbage that is ArchNot sure why would anyone need Fedora with extra configs though
w-why is she so smug, bros?
>>42621507I had high hopes for SVG2 finally becoming a real image format with mesh gradients but we know how that went.
>>42623802>w-why is she so smug, bros?she updated after three months of inactivity and her system did not die
>>42609666Sorry for late reply. Did you try the VM? I don't see why it should be singleuser unless it's something VM specific, I installed every release on real HW as they came out and never had problem with multiuser Until HURD managed to fuck up the filesystem while shutting down so bad it couldn't fix it afterwards kek. Even the sick TTY Hurd uses worked really well. Actually everything worked really well, except the filesystem stability which might be my machine specific.I'll be probably installing today/tomorrow so I could check it out and possibly use it as distraction-free machine
>>42622125nice stickers
>>42625142>pic unrelated
>>42625142thank youu>>42625147pic might have inspired me to make some linux pony stickers for next MF, maybe when sticker mule does a die cut sheet deal could get a bunch of distro ponies!
>>42623915based pony
Bump.
