Hello and welcome once again to the gamejam! I normally only do these at the online cons, but some people showed interest in doing them every 4 months, so consider this our trial run!For those of you not in the know, here's how it works:1. Go to : https://itch.io/jam/mlp-off-con-game-jam-one-button and join the Jam2. Maek gaem in any engine you'd like3. Once you finish your game, submit it on the itch page before the time runs out game so everyone can play it4. When the timer runs out, I'll showcase the games in a live streamNow here's the thing, it's going to be a little different this time round since there'll be no con to show these off. My plan is to do a stream via cytube for the showcase, possibly on november 2nd, sunday 6 EST. Check the anchor for updates in schedule or anything related to the JamAfter that wall of text, let me present to you the theme for the Jam: One button!Read that again, that's one (1) button. The games of this Jam have to be either playable using a single button (be it a keyboard key, right click of a mouse or however else you interpret it) or be centered around the press of a button.I keep saying that word, it's losing all meaningThe main thing I want out of this is short, finished games. I myself struggle with the scope of my projects, it's a skill that needs to be practiced, so let's practice it!Any and all of this is subject to change, check the anchor for updates. This is a community thing, so if any of you have opinions or disagree on anything, please let me knowOn a slightly unrelated note, you may have noticed the unidentified mare in the OP pic, say hello to: Time Crunch! She's an overconfident procrastinator. She works better under pressure... Or so she claims. Don't be like Time Crunch, pace yourselves! This is the OC I came up with for the Jam since I wanted a special OP pic for the thread, but didn't have any mascots to use. I claim no ownership and consider her to be a thread OC.I was thinking of her Cutie Mark being an alarm clock, but I haven't actually come up with a design. Also, I can't shake the feeling that she's missing something...>LinksItch: https://itch.io/jam/mlp-off-con-game-jam-one-buttonEmail: littlehorseappreciator@proton.me
>>42688330FAQ:>When's the Jam runningAs of now, from Oct 17 to Nov 2nd. Meaning RIGHT NOW AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA>Where is it going to be streamedCheck the anchor within a week of the deadline, I should be set up by then>Hey OP, if you want small games why are you giving almost three whole ass weeks?I'm not giving you three weeks, I'm giving you three weekends. I don't want to capitalize your time, I know some of you will be very busy this time of the year, and I don't expect you to work on your games every day.>How long will the stream be?I don't know, depends on how many games are submitted. There is no time limit for the stream this time, so we can go as long as we like! ... But the ideal time may be a couple of hours. We'll see>Will it be recorded?Yes! I'll record it myself, with chat, and upload it on pony.tube>Can I work with others to make a game?Yeah that's fully allowed. You can do it solo or in a teamfinishing your projects.>What if I want to make a bigger game? You could in theory, but you'll burn yourself out. I'd like for you guys to participate in this and future game jams. If this one works out we'll be doing one every 4 months. I recommend you save the bigger projects for when we have an audience in the triple digits!>Can I submit multiple games to the Jam?Yes! You CAN submit multiple; you're allowed to... But people normally only do one. Since the goal is centered around small games for this Jam, I supposed some more experienced devs might find it trivial and may look for extra things to do, so they can do multiple instead and stop themselves from bloating their game! Or just polish their one game, the chioce is (you)rs!>Fuck you and fuck this I'm doing my own thingYeah, I guess you can, and we'll still check it out on stream if you decide to share it with us. But I recommend sticking to the restrictions. People find they're more creative when there are limitations!>I don't want to make an itch.io account :(Fine, you can email me your game, but expect follow up emails in case the game runs weirdly or I get a virus alert 0c0

It is time.Get hype (after the anni stream ends in several days)
>>42688330I want to cum inside Time Crunch
this time I'll try not to start the game 2 days before the deadline
I feel like we need art of Time Crunch fucking screaming
Font imported, button created... We're so back.
Anyone want to talk about their game?
>>42691147I'll start making it after the stream ends and I sleep off my hangover
>>42691147I know I'll regret it, but I'm making making the art for the game first
>>42691147I haven't made a game since high school, I don't have any idea what kind of game I'm going to make, and I'm not going to start working on it until the anni is truly over. So I'm feeling pretty optimistic about the whole thing.
So close to being done with this save system, then it's all smooth sailing.
>>42691147i don't want to do the one button theme and i'm stuck between the first PTFG game as to horrify as many people as possible and Stick RPG but Pony
>>42691147It will suck
Lewd game when? You have to tap your LMB like it's morse code with taps and long presses in differing combos.>>42693093
>vague pixelart ideas>no idea how to turn it into gameHmm
>>42697220what kind of pixel art ideas
>>42697220You could still post your pixel art here maybe someone else is going to use it like during ASSet jam.
>>42696274Is that part of your plan?
>>42697493I'll start it when the anni stream ends, maybe I'll get some ideas between now and then.
One button is tough, the only way i can think to make multiple choices is to have the cursor switch back and forth between the options
>>42698967Maybe one button to cycle throigh the choices and make it so it select the current option when a timer runs out
There's a bug in my foundation and I don't know how to fix it or what causes it. Its never been so over.
>>42699760Thats rough. Theres still 2 weeks left, maybe you'll have an epiphany after a few nights of sleep
>>42700828I'm sure It's a rather simple fix. Anyways, it's time to lock in.
>>42698444>when the anni stream endsI forgot that it lasts for half a month. Well anon, I hope you enjoy kino life
>>42698090It was, but now I got a new idea and it will suck less!
>Need to get started on game>Must do a little bit each day>Lay out every step for making game>Minor issue pops up>Play vidya for "inspiration">Go to sleep>Wake up with an epiphany>Another issue appears>Zero lines of code writtenIt's happening again!
I was torn between using Anon or Anonfilly for my game. However, I just had a small but obvious epiphany, I should use Time Crunch instead.
>>42705314I'm glad you guys like her, she'd be ecstatic to know she'll star in a game, I'm sure
>>42705083The jam is made from suffering
>>42695944I have... A menu... And it will be playable via Left Mouse Click...
>>42707024menu looks nice. Did you make it before you started the game?
>>42707024sunbeam
Are we allowed to use 3d models made before the jam?
>>42710150Using existing assets is fineThis isn't super strict, just that the game itself should be made during
>>42711213
>>42711538
>>42708024yea i made it first. wasn't too hard because i'm (unfortunately) very experienced with rpg maker - using it bcs i haven't seen anypony else do a rpg maker game yet in one of these
>>42711971
>>42712092Rpg maker can definitely make fun games in theory
>>42713113I love basic RPGM combat but I know I'm probably in the minority.
26 anons are jamming this time! Pretty surprising attendance
>>42713558Even if 50% submit, that's still a decent amount of games.
>>42713151Nah man, I love RPG maker games! One of my dream games is to make an RPG pony game, the issue with those is that it's an asset black hole. Sometimes you'll make or use a sprite or song or detail that'll only be experienced once by the player, if they don't accidentally skip it.Now that I think about it, an RPG game could be a good collaborative community effort
Anni is over, finally I can sleep. It is time for horsecode when I awaken.
>>42715989Hurray Anon! Make those mares proud
>>42713558The anni must have brought in some people that normally wouldn't have known about it.
>>42716478Maybe, but I think the last jam was about the same?
>>42716681Last Jam had 33 interested and 18 submitted projects. I honestly expected this to have 10 people at most, it's good to see there's so much interest even when there's no con going on!
>>42716992>Page 10 in an hourWe've been targetted a lot recently, though I guess it xould be only one schizo with a fat trixie fetish
My horse wife beat me harshly for not working on my game yesterday
I spent all day making a track that sounds like trash finally ready to start the game
Just starting the backgrounds to my point and click game. gonna need ten at least, I gotta lock in.
>>42718141
>>42718781
>>42719235
>>42719664
>>42718283I love point and click games! Make sure to not make it like thise old flash ones where you had to click on exactly one pixel on the bottom left of the screen after doing a series of convoluted, nonsense puzzles to actually finish the game
