in the noncanon later seasons, the yaks threaten to go to war with the ponies, so the concept definitely exists

The iconic Pickelhaube, a helmet worn by soldiers of all ranks. The spike is defensive, to deflect attacks from cavalry, but I do wonder if unicorns might go for a goring in a last stand, maybe this helmet could do the same for an earth pony?
