I don't know about EqG since I can't stand it but S4 of FiM feels very dated already. It has duckface selfies, a Slenderman easter egg, a sweater vest-wearing hipster culture writer and Ponyville has an acappella band. That's painfully 2014.

As far as they know, it's all part of the pony universe, and since they're either hidden or implemented well, it doesn't feel dated. It just feels a bit alien, which is expected from a show in a world of horses.
>>42713556Equestria Girls absolutely radiates early 2010s energy. The art style and the technology used in the show are very much of the era. The early 2010s are nostalgic to me, so I can appreciate it for that reason even though I think most of the Equestria Girls media isn't very good.
I'm barely old enough to use this site and nothing really felt dated to me. I live in a shithole though so the most different thing to my real life is everyone generally being nice to each other, doing fun stuff in school and getting to live in their own houses in a nice neighborhood.
