Is it possible to build your own pony idea and story not related to mlp or hasbro, and not get sued into oblivion if the aesthetics are somewhat similar? I want to make my own story and idea and world and content but would it be risky? I wanna make a game or something cool. It would just aestheticslly be pleasant to look at.

>>42754590You can't use any copyrighted characters or settings (so anything explicitly mentioned in the show), and if you really wanna be careful, you should probably stay away from specific words like "cutie mark" or "elements of harmony". Now, the real answer is that Hasbro can /try/ to opportunistically sue you no matter what you do, and you can only make it seem like a more or less appealing prospect to them. Obviously making your idea less similar to MLP will make them think that a potential lawsuit will be less successful, but on the other hand becoming really famous or making tons of money off of it will make them more likely to sue, even if it's less similar, because they might get a higher return. If you avoid any copyright though you should be golden since there's nothing hard connecting you to MLP.
