The world of My Little Pony is vast both inwardly and outwardly, and as a result two different types of stories can be told: Adventure stories, and Relationship stories. Here’s how:Adventure StoriesEquestria is a tremendous realm that has many landscapes: mountains, prairies, forests, plains, deserts, lakes, beaches, even rainforests and jungles! And out of the landscapes pony districts have developed areas where pony culture varies because of the lifestyle they lead in their environment (we must remember that it is the ponies’ responsibility to make these ecosystems the way they are, so of course a culture has grown from it!) So when our little troupe is not dealing with dragons, gryphons and manticors, they may be meeting up with and learning about Mustang ponies on the plains, or with the native deer (who like ponies speak and sport cutie marks) who live like the native Americans of the Northeast. They may encounter llamas in the mountains, or lively Arabian ponies in the deserts! They may even have an adventure underwater with their neighbors, the seaponies. Cultural pony diversity will serve for fantastic fodder for classic travel adventure, learning about new communities and customs and meeting new types of friends! It is in these stories the audience learns the importance of respecting people and customs that are different from your own and how to make new friends. But questria is only part of a limitless magical w rld. Beyond the borders of their country s less defined and often mysterious to the ponies. Out there live other magical creatures that may or may not have an organized society like the ponies. Often these creatures have an effect on the ponies’ world and interfere with their ability to move the seasons. That is when our pony heroines must often leave the comfort of their home (often at the prompting of a letter to Twilight from the Queen) and resolve e problem, never kn wing exactly what t ey’re going to encou_ er outside the king m of Equest ia The lands beyond Equestria, full of my tery and even dange w ll offer the viewer even more exciting adventures! It is in these tales that maybe we don't learn so much, but we have an awesome time!!Short and stubby, Spike doesn’t exactly look like he’s destined to be one of the enormous, long and lean magical reptiles he calls his brethren, but he will. In fact, every so often he stumbles across one of his dragon abilities, but with no adult dragon to t ach him, these powe s are often hard for him to control Foundorphanedas egg, Spike's drago eritageisabitofa ystery. Dragons ar otorious to ponies, but they know little about them, so Spike is either seen as spectacle or something to fear. Good thing he has strong and patient Twilight to protect him!Continued...

Genuinely surprised that another thread of this was made. Since no one really agreed on anything I figured this would just be forgotten. Anyways, if we really want this to go somewhere I think we should really try to organize ourselves. Also fix your keyboard OP, and try to engage some more with the other anons
Right so let's see...Faust wanted both adventure and relationship episodes like most shows do, but the idea is to separate them into separate shows so you don't get a mixed bag like Wakfu and Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean. The characters must all 6 have self awareness and provide equal qualities as main characters with different flavors in order to achieve the same effect as MLP.This self awareness and equality despite different flavors means your characters all think and behave the same without your audience thinking one is a deuteragonist, one is a secondary character, one is a supporting character ,one is a recurring character, like most shows often do and go way beyond 5-6 characters in one group. You do not think Spike is equal to the Mane6, correct? Indeed. Most shows which are not Power Rangers-tier often have very distinct characters in terms of roles, not in personality, but in roles, morality, modus operandi, etc. Taking Power Rangers/Sailor Moon-tier characters and shoving them into a slice of life setting is what it means to subvert expectations and to play with cliches rather than avoiding them entirely.G5 characters do not feel equal in terms of roles and brain level. Most shows have characters where they almost feel like they came from entirely different shows, like shoving Celestia into the Mane6 as the 7th character.Quite ironic and pathetic of Glimmer's executive writer to say "How can you be friends if you're so different?" but they're not different and often times even the supporting characters like Spike can provide great chemistry to the main characters despite their obvious differences, quite ironic isn't it? Imagine if Glimmer had to comment on the Creature6 about equality. The Mane6 however do have something special goign on with them being Power Rangers inside a slice of life show. All 6 of them are ponies and ponies are very xenophobic, this ironically isn't the kind of show where it's 6 planets/realms coming to converge into 1 spot with drastically different cultures ... since all of the Mane5 live in Ponyville and even Twilight doesn't feel alienated like most shows like Creature6 and shows where it's a literal alien come to Earth or a cat turned human, etc.
>>42764380Ponies could speak their own language like The Moomins and it's just translated for the English audiences.https://oldponish.netlify.app/MLP songs need to have folk elements.World design needs to have contrast just like the SoL and Adventure episodes. There's heavy lore and world-ending disasters looming in the background. In the SoL version you are only given the basics of magic. Natural selection dictates that ponies must cooperate or freeze to death and eaten alive by wendigos or transformed into shadow beasts and disgusting mutated forms.A cutie mark in itself is not magical, it is part of the horse inside it and is literally the signature and genetical code of a horse. It is not a job assigment. If a magical equine's childhood can dictate how a cutie mark/genetic code is manifestated visually is yet to be decided. An improvement on the bean-body design of ponies could be more deer and stag-like body shapes. Filly Funtasia's irises have 2 colors, glow a little and the eyeshape can change shape from round to almond to all sorts of shapes like a mask. Environments must be vertical, like Albert Bierstadt's art to put into perspective how small the characters are compared to the environment.Atmosphere wise for Relationship episodes you can have "All-powerful gigantic sorceror is humbled and impressed by lowly mortals by their sheer indomitable spirit and comfy feels." That fits both the contrast and atmosphere quite nicely and it shows Celestia and the ponies original intended relationship.Celestia and Luna could be basic small ponies or perpetually trapped in spirit forms, glass forms, talking statue forms, etc. in order to make the ponies fend for themselves while the "Superman" creatures are fading away rather than having excuses from keeping their own species from prospering and being protected. Else they'd have to not be ponies and to not meddle in the society of mortals as alicorns view the ponies far beneath them like ants. One time rescues would be the only way to make them powerful without the responsibility of defending them each time. e.g. Godzilla TAS, Golden Skull else you just get Sonic/Goku being late every time because Goku's friends after the 1st show are better off not being there. they're misplaced.Kirin and various creatures can stay and be expanded upon.Magitech must be relegated to specific species just like alicorns can utilize far more advanced magic than other users, just like pegasi naturally can manipulate clouds but no one else.A different realm must be created if you want Filly Funtasia magitech that's indistinguishable from technologyNormal ponies must use very traditional folkloristic magic such as druid magic, communication through books, magical scrolls, magical dragonfire, etc.Just like Ponyville is not allowed to wrap up winter using magic like Canterlot does despite living next to each other and both being ponies. The Star Trek Prime Directive must be followed.
>>42764395This color palette could use some fine tuning, but great eye color.https://desuarchive.org/mlp/thread/42742435/#42757779The most polished character at the moment is the magic pony: She's a candy maker with a passion for magic, ordering books from wherever she can to study them. She isn't as powerful or well-read as Twilight, but she pushes herself extra hard, and with enough effort and shortcuts, manages to cast spells far beyond her level. She lives in a wizard tower despite it's impractical shape, because she's convinced that living like a wizard will help her learn magic too. She has a habit of popping a candy before tasks that take concentration. In one episode it's revealed that she's been using caffeine pills, and needs to learn that using them too much means she isn't even getting more alert but just normal anymore, and needs to fight off her addiction. After the withdrawal period, she comes to realize she's been popping pills as a ritual rather than out of necessity, and switches to plain regular candy.>The forest is like an ocean: the deeper you go, the taller trees, less sunlight, and weirder creatures you meet. There's a shamanistic tribe of moose living there, for ponies to meet later in the show.Like the original intention of the Everfree Forest being an entire continent and a hub area connecting to other realms through its secret passageways.Unbeknownst to donkeys, at the peak of the mountain far above the clouds, is the last city of mountain goats, living like greek gods in their pantheon. Discovered later in the show, their civilization has been slowly degrading in it's decadence as the goats believe all they need is grapes and theater, but the arrival of ponies changes everything. At first, they view ponies as bemusing primitives, awestruck by their initial impression of the vast marble city, but little things like a shared candy here and a hummed song there start awakening curiosity about the world below the clouds.
>>42764404In one episode, the ponies build a weather factory to control their weather like they do in the maneland. Older ponies warn that the weather of Horseria has always worked on its own and you shouldn't mess with what isn't broken. Problems do arise and the factory is shut down, although one pony finds it unlikely they were caused by the factory. The problems continue, stubborn ponies still blaming the factory for messing the weather, while the mane cast starts looking for the real problem. They discover that before ponies came along the clouds were made by silly LLama's hauling massive coffee cup of water up to their volcano god, dumping it in and shooting a geyser of steam up into the air. The ponies solve the problem, the lesson of the episode being that blaming the wrong culprit isn't just bad for the innocent party, but also distracts from the real issue. The ponies find themselves in a secret room inside the trunk of the tree, filled with crazy scribblings and half-finished contraptions. A huge clock mechanism is connected to the trap door, and the ponies deduce that it's been ticking for decades to drop them on the mattress in the center of the room. The author asks what kind of pony lived here before, and the locals explain that he was an earth pony with wild theories about how certain friendships were absolutely critical for the survival of the world. They don't know much though, their parents warning not to interact with the crazy pony that claimed to sense magic with his teeth and probably would have encouraged them to drink pee or something. Looking through the mostly unintelligible scribblings, they get a general outlines of a cosmic horror sleeping beneath the town, a vast horror that's anger at awakening destroys the world of ponies. There's panic and questions about whether they should believe the ramblings of a madpony, but the fact that he'd predicted their arrival to the second means he must have known something.Following the notes, they discover a vast underground cavern, with an immeasurable, shoggoth-like creature resting within. Despair rises as the ponies realize they have no way to stop something like this, but the magician, who's been looking into the writings points out that the wording doesn't explicitly say the monster WILL destroy the world, just that it's rage upon awakening will. So, the ponies device a plan to make the monsters awakening as pleasant as possible, and with their combined efforts make sure monster awakens gently and in a good mood, saving the day.
i am once again asking: why?
No /tg/ nerdshit please.
>>42764404One issue that must be fixed with S1's EI is either removing basic morality lessons and absolutely not centering your story around it in such a heavy handed manner to the point you strangle your storytelling which most inexperienced young children's writers don't seem to get it.>The ponies solve the problem, the lesson of the episode being that blaming the wrong culprit isn't just bad for the innocent party, but also distracts from the real issue. Not having them at all. Making it clear that this time it isn't the case and you cannot apply a lesson to 99% of things and context/special circumstances always matters. Or much more intelligent lessons societal lessons about nature vs nurture.In-world lessons such as pegasi and unicorns can **Sometimes** share magic, but alicorn magitech cannot.Dark and light magic can fuse together sometimes and other times they cannot. Character personality fusions can cause obvious bipolar characters and other times they can create something entirely new.Hasbro crossovers/AUs can be fun if done right, nowadays they're not done right. The world of Hanazuki could easily be ponified with flowerponies and flower bunnies. Its main world design problem is that the trees all do the same thing, among many other problems.Ironically Hanazuki as a little girls show about managing emotions has anger and depression as viable emotions that can help... accidentally, since the writer behind Hanazuki is none other than the one behind Feeling Pinkie Keen and Over A Barrel.
>>42764448Specifically what fat/tg/entleman stuff? Warhammer 40k where Orcs can create tanks out of sheer imagination and it becomes real just like the power of friendship? Or The Void and chaos marines/shadow ponies/chaos ponies having a working society instead of being cancer cells? Most of /tg/ ignores WH and WH40k as intelligent designs since they're often just OP Superman designs without anything intuitive beyond ridiculous "it's magic I ain't gotta explain shit".
>>42764434To just do something creative, people need to create something or they'll go sad, it's just that easy.
>>42764141So who keeps eating your letters?
>>42764478so everything here will be trashed?
Let's get some small areas and small monster design mythology going.Monsters:There's these "lantern monsters" which lurk in caves and forests. Unicorns use the crystals and lanterns they drop to create magical lanterns that both provide light and magical properties to the user. The power comes from the fire inside the lantern.Uncofirmed lore has it that they're wandering souls taking over lanterns as vessels to be capable of moving around. Some say pony souls might be inside those possessed lanterns. They're basically floating spectres.Areas:Zephyr ValleyThis area is unusual because the seasons are inverted. Spring and Summer are Fall and Winter and vice versa. The Fall is also much colder and winters always carry blizzards. The weather is unpredictable from storm clouds forming quickly and from raining to snowing in a few minutes. Pegasi are incapable of controlling it for long. It's a large landscape full of valleys and mountains. The weird weather is caused by a treasure buried by the dragons long ago. The treasure is a ruby gem deep in the mountain peaks and is a dark magic creature trapped in it and awaiting to be found.

Computer, derive information from this, summarize it and similar to The Simpsons: "Itchy And Scartchy compose of a dramaturgical dyad" try to also give either easy to understand archetypical names/meanings or big fancy words to describe and put these things into boxes/categories.>Done - isomorphic protagonismExcellentAnalysis & SummaryCore Concept: Ensemble Parity ArchitectureThis describes a character ensemble design principle where:The Problem Being Criticized:Most shows create hierarchical character ecosystems where roles are stratified (protagonist deuteragonist supporting recurring). This creates what we might call a "dramaturgical caste system" where characters have unequal narrative weight, agency, and cognitive presence. The MLP Solution - "Power Rangers in Slice-of-Life" Paradigm:The Mane 6 achieve something called "isomorphic protagonism" - they are:Cognitively Equipotent - All possess equal self-awareness and decision-making capacityNarratively Co-Equal - None feel like supporting cast despite different personality flavorsCulturally Homogeneous - All share the same species/cultural background (ponies from Ponyville), avoiding the "planetary convergence" tropeArchitecturally Symmetrical - They're essentially Power Rangers (action-hero archetypes with color-coded identities) transplanted into domestic/comedy settingsKey Terms & Categories: What Works (G4/FIM Model):"Sentinel Squad Domestication" - Taking team-combat archetypes and placing them in mundane contexts"Monocultural Cohesion" - Shared species/origin preventing alienation dynamics"Hexagonal Equity" - Six-way equal protagonist status"Chromatic Isomorphism" - Different colors/personalities, same narrative weight What Fails (G5/Most Shows):"Graduated Relevance Hierarchy" - Characters ranked by importance (Spike ≠ Mane 6)"Cross-Genre Character Grafting" - Mixing characters who feel imported from different shows (like adding Celestia as #7)"Heterogeneous Assemblage Paradox" - The "Creature 6" problem: forcing diversity through species difference creates inherent inequality through alienation mechanicsThe Ironic Critique:Starlight Glimmer's writer asked "How can you be friends if you're so different?" yet the Mane 6 aren't fundamentally different in terms of role, cognition, or cultural origin—only in superficial personality traits. True chemistry (like Spike + Mane 6) works despite differences because it doesn't pretend unequal characters are equal.Fancy Academic Framing:"Egalitarian Multiplicity vs. Stratified Plurality" - MLP creates a lateral character matrix rather than a vertical character pyramid."isomorphic protagonism" excellent.

Through a freak accident one of the elements of harmony responds to her and she's now the element of loyalty roflmao. They bring the milkmare on every adventure like their personal mascot poochie, but she's really fucking useless despite Dashie's red lightning bolt glowing whenever she's around. Dashie starts making a jab that she's turning into Hitch the babysitter and then devises a plan to murder the milkmare ... only for it to not work. All 6 mains ask her if she does anything but be a milkmare and she says eeeynoppee and then we retcon Fluttershy hanging out with that dumb dirty hippy cause the hippiy is beneath her. Go imagine.Applejack tries to put her in with the cows, but the cows reject her saying she's not a cow.
>>42765329Pinkie Pie "abuses" her and uses her as an infinite supply for milk. Milkmare protection agencies demand more rights, we give them, but they do nothing with them cause they're just dumb overglorified cows. Then the mascot-cartoon character organization tries to cancel me and goes on a witchhunt, but they can't, cause there's no such thing. The milkmare blatantly says "I'm happy to be a milk dispenser, it's my cutie mark" , Pinkie Pie smiling and the milkmare association being disgusted, only for the milkmare association to lose even more rights as they try to fight for them and being relegated to cow herders and then they breed with the cows and then the ponies get really xenophobic and murder everyone and then they reinstate the cowmares.Cows won't replace the milkmare and the milkmares are not equal to the bearers of the elements of harmony. They come to the conclusion to put the milkmare together with Derpy and the foodponies "the special" category.Turns out Rainbow Dash got breastfed by her as a foal instead of her mother, embarrasing Dashie. That's why the element glowed. But something was missing ... Rainbow Dash feeds the milmare zap apple jam making the milkmare lactate differently.Rainbow Dash sucks all milk and then she gets absorbed into Dashie as she burpsss and Milkmare dies a biblical death aiding the element of loyalty as a sentient healing enchantment potion of some sorts similar to how Raven is a portal for her father. >>42764141ForesterAn Ancient, and Alien, HeritageAlso known as Forest Unicorns of Sylphs, these are tall, slim creatures that inhabit the Sacred Forest. They are to Ponies what elves are to humans. Very few of them exist in Equestria; those who do are usually sent there on a mission. Others are born to a family who mixed with them in the past, and the Forester’s magic has awakened within this individual. The second case is special, since Forester magic and Equestrian magic are incompatible. How they are awakened to their Forester heritage can be a pivotal moment in their life. Some might not even realize they are different. The Sacred Forest is a realm in an alternate dimension. Equestrian historians believe that Foresters made contact with Unicorns during the rule of Princess Platinum and kick-started the unicorns’ magical theory and monarchy.Foresters live a life that is centered around magic and nature. They usually build settlements that are hard to navigate without magic, and even their weapons are designed with magic in mind. The biology of a Forester is similar to that of a unicorn. However, their proportions are taller and slimmer. Their horns are longer, their ears are pointy, and their hooves end at a point. Their pointed hooves make them move almost like ballerinas across the ground.A Seed in Fertile SoilAll Foresters are born with a source of magic called a “Seed”. The seed is a spiritual object, and is the source of magic a Forester pulls from. When the seed is cultivated, strength, agility, or magical potential can be grown from it. There are two kinds of seed; the Dark Seed and the Light seed. The Light seed is a more stable source of magic. Dark seed is chaotic. It houses immense magical potential, but is difficult to control. The nature of the seed often impacts the life and personality of an individual. While many Light Seed Foresters are well regarded and popular, Dark Seed Foresters are often seen as risky, harmful, and even dangerous.Forester Names. Most Foresters have names that sound… silly to outsiders. Because their language and traditions are very divergent from those of the Equestrian languages, many o their names end up sounding like random words or sound to an EquestrianMale: Abacus, Best, Coil, Drain, Faren, Guilt, Kessel, Limp, Michael, Nestle, Odin, Opera, Selah, SendingFemale: Ample, Breath, Carrion, Dess, Enough, Fell, Hire, Instant, Lure, Lemon, Pesk, Sink, Smell, Viral.Age. Time flows differently in the Sacred Forest than in Equestria. In their natural habitat, a Forester can survive for hundreds of years. Being exposed to constant time flow severely limits their lifespan. Foresters mature at 14 years of age. If born and raised in Equestria, a Forester usually lives to be around 70 years old. Otherwise, they can live to be 400 years old in Equestria.Foresters grow to be anywhere from 5 to 6 feet tall.

Dang. I'm glad my race guide made it so far. I've slowly been working on a 5e 2024 conversion that includes backgrounds, spells, feats, and maybe a new class or two.
For the main cast of ponies I personally like the idea of having Celestia and Luna as part of it in the form of legacy ponies. Not the powerful alicorn rules we all know and love but rather an iteration of them where they are young, regular pony sisters, maybe even from different tribes but still keeping the core aspects of their personalities intact. Celly as a pegasus and Luna as a unicorn could be pretty cute in their own right, though I can see an argument being made for the opposite; alternatively they could be pegasi or unicorn sisters. If we really want to go on meta territory the two could be the reincarnated forms of former deities in-universe, though I feel like that sucks away the fun from seeing two all powerful rulers being reinterpreted into regular, carefree ponies with no ties to their previous obligations.

Should the ideas behind this be centered around adventure or slice of life? I know that the idea is both but a higher emphasis should be put in one or the other, similarly to how MLP ended up focusing more on slice of life stuff even during the first season
