I have figured out how to reconcile the contradictions in g5 and g4, though some of you may recoil at it. "Twilight sent us here to protect us, and put a spell around Equestria to hide it from Opailne" -g5 Spike. But how would such a spell work, exactly? Opaline could just go to where she remembered it was, no? What Twilight really did was send the ponies through a mirror portal similar to the one in EqG, meaning that g5 does take place in an alternate dimension as many have speculated, AND it takes place many years afterwards. I'm pretty sure you can explain just about everything this way: the ponies have different biology because the portal mutated them, and everything else is different b/c it's another dimension. It gets confusing when you throw in the fact that some characters might be their dimensional counterparts though...
