Finished today the last eight episodes of S6, watched Legend of Everfree, and decided to check... Celestial Advice.Well, my memory wasn't betraying me - it really feels off compared to S6 and EG4. I don't think I'll go anywhere past it this time. Probably will just watch Larson's episode and all the EG specials. There's literally nothing left to watch.
>>42802766I had high hopes for S7 at first because Songco and Lewis came on as story editors (I liked them as episode writers) but it ended up being very bland. No two-part premiere and Shadow Play was easily the most forgettable season finale. That being said, it's still more salvageable than S8 and 9 though. Not that that's a high bar.
>>42802788>Shadow Play was easily the most forgettable season finaleanon, it had pic relbut yeah shit's awful, just watch the Sounds of Silence and drop S8-9you can also watch off-season material like the Movie (sucks), Best Gift Ever (meh) and Rainbow Roadtrip (pretty neat)
>>42802795I find it funny how over time the tastes on this board seem to be shifting towards Rainbow Roadtrip over Best Gift Ever whereas when the show ended it was very much the other way around.
>>42802800yeah that's rather interesting(although I can confidently say that both are still better than S8-S9, "meh" is six times better than TDS-written slop)
>>42802795GIWTWM
>>42802800The shift was probably bound to happen. BGE is the closest thing to Discord just being part of pony society and participating in holidays I'll ever get, and I appreciate this. At the same time, more Anons wish Discord weren't in it. But Discord aside, FiM has already had better Heartswarming episodes before it, and BGE itself is just alright, so all the hype from being better than the rest of S8 naturally had to calm down over time. RR, being a bit slow and basic, is actually a breath of fresh air (compared to FiM's season rot and current children's entertainment in 2010+15) by focusing on something as timeless and simple as "community". It can stand on its own as a story, and even a person new to FiM would find a thing or two to resonate with, be it actively improving neighborly relations or letting go of feeling guilt. The M6 don't do a whole lot, but they're being sympathetic characters with individual strengths. BGE is just a string of semi-random events and noise in comparison, but it has the M6's faces plastered all over it, so please clap at Fluttershy and Twilight being retarded for the epic maymays. RR does resemble S1 in terms of themes and calmness (while lacking in iconic moments and songs, and dwelling on the gray and drab a bit much), but even S1 is not the most popular of seasons, unfortunately. /mlp/ might be the only part of the fandom that actually cares about RR.
>>42802766>Season 7 sucks >Water is wet
>>42803728>/mlp/ might be the only part of the fandom that actually cares about RR.I'm not sure that >we really care about itdo fags on X/reddit/etc just ignore its existence?
>>42803728>Low stakes special with no laser battles about rebuilding a happy healthy community that ends in a straight marriageThere's several reasons certain places don't like RR
>>42802788>Shadow Play was easily the most forgettable season finaletrueI always use that case to prove my point that the writers of the later seasons failed precisely because they cared (they just are bad writers)It's the ending with the most build-up during the season, the one that puts the most effort into constructing and developing lore, making a message about the way we see history; the remembered ones and the forgotten ones... and yet it's still the weakest and most boring of all the endings
>>42803962>effort into constructing and developing loreIt's also quite bad lore IMO.
>>42802766s7 doesn't match the magic of s5 and s6, but it's still better than s3 and s4.
Well, this pic IS bullshit. Season 6 was WAY closer to Season 5 than to 7. And all the writers are entirely new here. Not even Vogel episodes, just one single Larson's guest episode and Haber himself participated in writing something. Maybe that's why it feels more like a fun fiction than a real sequel.
