Not only was MLP:FiM created by the wife of the Powerpuff Girls creator, but both are also shows that look like little girls shows from the outside that have a LOT of fans that are older and often male. However I feel that there is an interesting contrast in how Powerpuff Girls actually pretty blatantly appeals to boys. It is a full on action superhero show with a bunch of cartoon violence. Due to this it actually feels a lot like a stereotypical boys cartoon when you move beyond the leads being girls. It has blood in the theme song for crying out loud! MLP on the other hand is a much more feminine slice of life show that far less obviously appeals to boys. Its a contrast that makes sense, as Powerpuff Girls was created by a man, while MLP:FiM was created by a woman. Both are certainly great shows that earned their appeal beyond the target audience, but there's a reason that guys liking Powerpuff Girls is generally viewed as being less weird than guys liking MLP.

So what show do you guys prefer? Feel free to vote on the poll and express your opinion on the matter!
