Not necessarily.
Because of the TV advertising ban cigarette companies dumped millions into motor racing because funding the teams meant their logos could still be on TV.
I was (still am) an obsessive racing fan and grew up bombarded by tobacco advertising but never picked up smoking. I was just happy those fuckers were willing to fund my sport.

It's super rare to find a driver who smokes today, they all have to stay in Olympic levels of fitness.
